I don't even own any of her albums (yet) and she has already took such a big interest for me, I can't believe her record sales have halved since coming out as gay. She is just delightful. She is brave, intelligent, funny and kind. She means so much to so many now that it doesn't matter what the dinosaurs say. She had on #1 song over 10 years ago and never got above pre-opening act status at the state fair. Please don't forget that she has written hit songs for artists like Clay Walker and Brad Paisley. Songwriting royalties for top ten hits is nothing to scoff at. She's made more money from writing songs than anything else. Royalties for top ten songs (even country songs) are lucrative. Singer/Songwriters always have their cake and eat it, too. She is both.

She took a huge chance by coming out. She might not have been a legend in her music, but being honest and brave as she has shown now, speaks volumes. Maybe you should replay this and listen a little closer -she was on the edge of what she could take. If you've never had to live in the closet because of the risk of losing everything you're living for--you just may never really understand what this was like or how profound this story really is.
