The public is only ever shown ONE of all his samples of each test. His method is non-scientific and completely biased.

I suppose clean water was used in the tests with the words - some of the crystals in this video are somehow colored, and some are not. I know this is just for an increased effect., but I would prefer seeing the original results as they were photographed (or in the same kind of lightning at least). Basically, he doesn't objectively test the crystals. He takes the "good thoughts" samples and deliberately chooses the prettiest crystals among them to photograph. Likewise, he chooses the ugliest crystals "bad thoughts" samples.
If he actually tested them fairly, he'd find there's no difference between the two.

That point leads me to my final point. This whole study is based on an unfalsifiable conclusion. "The mind has an effect on the water, and presumably other things in the universe." There is no way to present an argument against this because it predicts nothing, and it explains everything. If I say, "I didn't observe an effect when I thought happy thoughts," one could reply, "Well, you just didn't think/believe hard enough." If I do observe similar results, the hypothesis is confirmed.

I would think that you are right to the extent that the use of the scientific method (i.e. "science" as I believe you put it) does "really prove anything". In fact, that is not the aim of the scientific enterprise. The scientific method is a way to falsify incorrect constructs, ideas, and beliefs.
I would disagree with your assertion that science is "all made up". In fact, true scientific work is the result of observation, prediction, experimentation, reasoning, communication of results and replication. It is a rigorous process of organized and critical thinking.
I think it would be hasty and unbecoming to declare that such an effect is not present nor the cause of some form of- for lack of a better term- psychic ability which people seemingly possess. I am merely criticizing the methods used to come to such conclusions, and I am encouraging people to critically analyze the claims and extrapolations of those claims before accepting the claims made as a valid fact.
People need something to believe in. That there is more to life then just going to work and paying taxes. Some people believe in Jesus, some people believe in UFO's, some people believe in messages in water.
It seems as though the only criteria for judging whether or not the labels, blessings, or thoughts had any effect were the ideas of beauty on the part of the researchers and general public. The problem is that I could look at the crystal for "I hate you. I want you to die," and find an extravagant beauty in its simplicity. In such a case, the "conclusions" of the study are nullified.
Second of all, there was a lack of double blind testing procedures; that is, both the person labeling the bottle and looking at the sample would know from which bottle the water sample came. This could very easily skew their perception and judgement as to what the crystallization meant.
Which leads me to the most glaring issue with this experiment. What were the measures? There was a lack of operational definitions and objective criteria for determining an effect.
I have to admit; as much as this seems impressive at first glance there are some glaring problems with the methods of the research.
First of all, there was no random, representative sample from fresh waters (or salt waters). When looking at the sources, he took one from a dirty river and one from the diversion of a dam, both of which were in Toyko.

Let me explain to you - When you have pollutants in a pure liquid of anything which you wish to crash out crystals from, then you will get deformed crystal structures. It also affects the melting temp of the crystal. In the lab, for us to cheaply test how pure our crystals are, we test their melting temp. There is a book of the melting temps of 10,000s of cystals of many different molecules. Water is just one of them.

It is just as the person has mentioned above, it is INTENTION that is responsible for that.
You can say the name "Hitler" or even "Hate" over and over and then take the pictures, if your intentions were of LOVE (when you said those words) then the crystals would have come out beautifull.
So swearing is not the words that we use but the INTENTION that we ADD to those words.
You can say to people "you are Crazy" with a negative intention and insult them or say it as a Joke (while laughing)

Very interesting video. I'd like to see more facts though. I should (and will) do some research on this, but there's something I don't like in this video. I suppose clean water was used in the tests with the words - some of the crystals in this video are somehow colored, and some are not. I know this is just for an increased effect., but I would prefer seeing the original results as they were photographed (or in the same kind of lightning at least). Very well made video and extremely interesting

well, the tricky thing is no one's proved or disproved it entirely, and with the hard to swallow effect of consciousness effecting reality being a stronger argument by the day... science fiction may very well be science fact.
Even if this water thing is false, the psychological effect of thinking like this is effectively positive. The traditional "mechanical" way of thinking leads people to act just as such: like machines and thinking life is just an oddity in the universe.

Emoto's work isn't discovery, it's pure fantasy.
Basically, he doesn't objectively test the crystals. He takes the "good thoughts" samples and deliberately chooses the prettiest crystals among them to photograph. Likewise, he chooses the ugliest crystals "bad thoughts" samples.
If he actually tested them fairly, he'd find there's no difference between the two.

That point leads me to my final point. This whole study is based on an unfalsifiable conclusion. "The mind has an effect on the water, and presumably other things in the universe." There is no way to present an argument against this because it predicts nothing, and it explains everything. If I say, "I didn't observe an effect when I thought happy thoughts," one could reply, "Well, you just didn't think/believe hard enough." If I do observe similar results, the hypothesis is confirmed.

I would think that you are right to the extent that the use of the scientific method (i.e. "science" as I believe you put it) does "really prove anything". In fact, that is not the aim of the scientific enterprise. The scientific method is a way to falsify incorrect constructs, ideas, and beliefs.

I am merely criticizing the methods used to come to such conclusions, and I am encouraging people to critically analyze the claims and extrapolations of those claims before accepting the claims made as a valid fact.

It seems as though the only criteria for judging whether or not the labels, blessings, or thoughts had any effect were the ideas of beauty on the part of the researchers and general public. The problem is that I could look at the crystal for "I hate you. I want you to die," and find an extravagant beauty in its simplicity. In such a case, the "conclusions" of the study are nullified.

Second of all, there was a lack of double blind testing procedures; that is, both the person labeling the bottle and looking at the sample would know from which bottle the water sample came. This could very easily skew their perception and judgement as to what the crystallization meant.
Which leads me to the most glaring issue with this experiment. What were the measures? There was a lack of operational definitions and objective criteria for determining an effect.

I have to admit; as much as this seems impressive at first glance there are some glaring problems with the methods of the research.
First of all, there was no random, representative sample from fresh waters (or salt waters). When looking at the sources, he took one from a dirty river and one from the diversion of a dam, both of which were in Toyko.

Let me explain to you - When you have pollutants in a pure liquid of anything which you wish to crash out crystals from, then you will get deformed crystal structures. It also affects the melting temp of the crystal. In the lab, for us to cheaply test how pure our crystals are, we test their melting temp. There is a book of the melting temps of 10,000s of cystals of many different molecules. Water is just one of them.

Well there are probably several million crystals to photograph in each container...I wonder, do all of the crystals look the same? or are ones photographed that meet the presuppositions of Mr. Emoto? or is there a percentage that look certain ways? I am sorry, I want to believe this is true, but as a scientist, there is just too much room here for experimental bias and too much information left out about how these tests are carried out.

The tests are well documented. My video is probably not as well documented as you want it to be though. In a sample of water, all the crystals will look the same.
