@duncan7599 2 is better overall, IMO, but you should really play 1 first. It lets you find out a lot of backstory, import your character into ME2, and really begin from the beginning, rather than just watching the 2 minute summary in ME2.
@duncan7599 Also, if you really don't have time to play ME1, there is a 15 minute "interactive comic" you can download, which gives you a brief summary of the first game and lets you make decisions and import them into ME2.
Propably one of the best games of the 00s with Serious Sam, Max Payne, Alan Wake and Gears of War. Mass Effect 2 was a massive letdown after awesome Mass Effect. Blame EA for acquiring Bioware and changing the writers for some odd reason.

One thing i do wish they had was being able to control your squad yourself, besides telling where to go and who to shoot. I like the squad control in KoToR they should've kept that
at about 1.30 in the flux casino, wot is that scene all about and how do you get it to happen? ive completed the game and this scene never appeared.... im playing again and i still havnt found it so ca someone explain? great game though anyway amazing graphics and sotryline, and each time you play it ends up differantly.
i dont think that this is the final game. The bartender in the game is a volus, and there is no quest like that. as well the space map looks different the bullets and tactical hud look different and the flame effects look different, i think this was a prettied up version built to wow the public
I think this is a very early version of the game and this part was rewritten. There is no asari either in citadel that warns you about the return of the reapers...
Thie is certaintly the game we were suppossed to get, i guess some things are just too good to be true. Oh well, i guess Mass Effect 4 on the next xbox will be like this. Don't get me wrong im enjoying Mass Effect right now, its an amazing game i just wont enjoy it as much now i know what it was meant to be like.
agreed the darker sci fi look, the interfaace (galaxy map, HUD and so on) more futuristic, the flux, Illo and casino's darker touch as well gave it a "blade runner" feel as well as the graphics, much better here than the final product. Though Mass effect is still my favourite game I own right now, I hope "ME2" has this look and feel, THAT would amp it up very well
it's not as much as the actual gamma settings as it is the light rendering they used in the pregame production that gives it the gloomy touch so to say. thanks for tryin to help out though

I'm on the part when you can't kill the colnists, i mean bloody hell man, iv'e used all my gas grenades but now i have to knock them out with MELEE. HOW DO YOU MELEE IN MASS EFFECT ????? ANYONE ??????
u can only melee at pointblank, all you have to do is press righttrigger, basiclly just fire a gun other than the shotgun pointblank and you'll melee... shotgun blasts em eveytime unless it overheats

I have, and it looks just like Halo 2 does upscaled on a 'real tv', which is basically that it looks like an utter joke compared to stuff like CoD4, MGS4 or Uncharted. I won't even mention Crysis here, as Halo 3 is so pathetic when viewed alonside THAT masterpiece and no mistake.
youre right the actual game looks better and being able to jump into your team mates bodies would be pointless EVEN THOUGH you can control their abilities
This and Crysis are the 2 main games I'm looking foreward to when I get my new pc. I'm in total awe when I look at mass effect. I wish they redid system shock 2 with these snazy graphics. That would make my year. And perhapse 'the longest journey' series.
My friend is getting an xbox just to get this game. But he said if it came out on any other system he wouldn't buy it. Just goes to show you what systems are more popular in different places. Where I am no one has a ps3, and I personally never have never met someone with a ps3.
The game engine shown here is not the same as the one shown on the XBOX 360. This one is ALOT more streamlined and even seems graphically more smooth. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this game and have had alot of fun playing, but that videos is a little cooler that what is really played. I wonder if that is what we will see if this game goes to PC?
This game is about as cool as they come. I found myself wanting to engage in conversations more than do the actual fighting. I have Call of Duty 4 for all the fighting I need. This game is just a deep game with very little to be desired.

No, the game does not end dramatically. When you kill the final boss (Take a guess who that might be), you think it will end dramatically, but instead it's heroic. Love the end.

As far as I'm concerned, Everyone should go out and buy a 360 just for this game. My box just went Red ring on me, and this is the only game that I'm really Jonesing for. Not Halo 3, not Gears of War, not Bioshock. The final mission is absolutely amazing- The planet, then the 'statue', then the elevator... I'm still working on renegade tho. Does the ending change dramatically? (no specifics plz)

the combat system is kinda hard to understand but, once u do...its SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The storyline is so goood but, this is somewhat like knights of the old republic just that theres no turn based fighting. Sidequests are so much fun too. There is way too much technical issues though like ai just standing there and framrate dropping.
Can someone help me, I just unlocked the ship, but on the galoxy map there is only one location unlocked which is the space station that you pretty much start out on. Anyone help me move one to the next couple of missions?
mass effect is such a great game and its so much better than starocean. Starocean 3 wasnt that fun compared to mass effect. The only problem with mass effect is that, if u die u have to play kinda far back. Also ordering the whole squad is kinda bad when u just want one of them. Other than that, GO MASS EFFECT

Hello again, this is the Playstation 3 again. Yes, I'm the Cell processor that's so powerful that I've broken free from the developer's programming to surf the net on my own to see what the xbox360 cultures are like.
How would you describe the personalities of xbox360 owners? Violent? Easily fooled?

the real game is so much better than this trailer. the voice acting is superb, i dont know what game kenfeibon is playing. the frame rate can be unstable at times, and the textures dont always load instantly, but seriously, who plays a game for the graphics? thats like reading playboy for the articles...

This game is fun and has good video quality. However, there are so many bad polygon renders. They should of spent a little more time making the game run smoother. It seems like they are releasing games to soon, and just depending on the live updates to fix everything.
oblivion is only fun when u enter the dark brotherhood and do arena. the main story sucks so much ass. i havent played this one... lol assassins creed looked awesome...i havent gotten around to buying it tho ;lol
I was spoiled by Elder scrolls IV:oblivion in terms of depth and was expecting a more massive game from this company. I really didn't see much that hadn't been done better. The infinite ammo half of the fighting system annoyed me almost as much as the fact that grenades are practically useless. Oh, and the levels are very linear. Did I mention you can't land on most of the planets you see? I'd take Oblivion over this any day.
I kinda agree with him cos all you do is do a bunch of shitty quests and they get boring after a while, plus the fightings crap cos all you do is swing your sword
Meh, what I'm pointing at is the size of Oblivion compared to MASS effect. If they actually gave you the ability to explore a vast universe the way they made it sound I'd love the game. Weaponry variety ends with four guns and one type of grenade and what seems to be jedi powers. One vehicle, pre-determined story line, and the fact that you're seldom given choices that effect anything serious.
What freedom they give you is quickly taken away once you beat the game (and have to start over).
Its interesting that some of this like the ammo types and the biotics are very mass effect 2 like

this footage is probably from the beta or original game concept, not the realeased one for xbox360, the voice actors and graphics are different

you melee simply by going up to one of the colonists and pressing the fire button. instead of firing your weapon, you melee.

No, the game does not end dramatically. When you kill the final boss (Take a guess who that might be), you think it will end dramatically, but instead it's heroic. Love the end.
Btw, to get +24 Paragon at the end, save the Council! That's all I'm gonna say.

Oh boo fucking hoo - so what? It still plays like a dream. Get over yourselves, graphics don't mean shit; the gameplay is where it is at and Mass Effect is a gaming experience unlike any other out there.

As far as I'm concerned, Everyone should go out and buy a 360 just for this game. My box just went Red ring on me, and this is the only game that I'm really Jonesing for. Not Halo 3, not Gears of War, not Bioshock. The final mission is absolutely amazing- The planet, then the 'statue', then the elevator... I'm still working on renegade tho. Does the ending change dramatically? (no specifics plz)

This game is wow... i mean, some say the first 4 hours of the game is all talk, but I have never had so much fun talking in a game before ^^

Say.. anyone wanna take a wild shot on how much computer power you would need to run this smoothly when it gets released on the PC some time next year(hopefully)?
It looks so smooth, kinda afraid it will drain as much as Crysis did :/ could only play that one on medium. Allthough Crysis based mostly on physics

I haven't heard of that, but you can continue a save game afterwards, replaying with the high level and equipment. Level is irrelevant.

the combat system is kinda hard to understand but, once u do...its SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The storyline is so goood but, this is somewhat like knights of the old republic just that theres no turn based fighting. Sidequests are so much fun too. There is way too much technical issues though like ai just standing there and framrate dropping.

Can someone help me, I just unlocked the ship, but on the galoxy map there is only one location unlocked which is the space station that you pretty much start out on. Anyone help me move one to the next couple of missions?

mass effect is such a great game and its so much better than starocean. Starocean 3 wasnt that fun compared to mass effect. The only problem with mass effect is that, if u die u have to play kinda far back. Also ordering the whole squad is kinda bad when u just want one of them. Other than that, GO MASS EFFECT

the real game is so much better than this trailer. the voice acting is superb, i dont know what game kenfeibon is playing. the frame rate can be unstable at times, and the textures dont always load instantly, but seriously, who plays a game for the graphics? thats like reading playboy for the articles...
btw gameplay is really good, this vid makes it look like crap

This game is fun and has good video quality. However, there are so many bad polygon renders. They should of spent a little more time making the game run smoother. It seems like they are releasing games to soon, and just depending on the live updates to fix everything.

oblivion is only fun when u enter the dark brotherhood and do arena. the main story sucks so much ass. i havent played this one... lol assassins creed looked awesome...i havent gotten around to buying it tho ;lol

I was spoiled by Elder scrolls IV:oblivion in terms of depth and was expecting a more massive game from this company. I really didn't see much that hadn't been done better. The infinite ammo half of the fighting system annoyed me almost as much as the fact that grenades are practically useless. Oh, and the levels are very linear. Did I mention you can't land on most of the planets you see? I'd take Oblivion over this any day.

Meh, what I'm pointing at is the size of Oblivion compared to MASS effect. If they actually gave you the ability to explore a vast universe the way they made it sound I'd love the game. Weaponry variety ends with four guns and one type of grenade and what seems to be jedi powers. One vehicle, pre-determined story line, and the fact that you're seldom given choices that effect anything serious.
What freedom they give you is quickly taken away once you beat the game (and have to start over).
