The ratio 20:1 means that there are 20 meters for every 1 cm. So, we are comparing meters and centimeters. That means I would set my proportions up as ... meters/ cm = meters/cm (make sure you keep the 20:1 in the same ratio) ... so it would be ... 20 meters / 1 cm = 452 meters/ x cm (because we are looking for the centimeters we put the variable there and we are given 452 meters, so we put that on the top where the meters go).
@hkelbel welll thanks! butt too late because nobody in my class really understood the paper we got so the sheet wasnt graded and we did it together (whole class)!
thank you.thats easier than what i was taught on another sight.makes sense now.agian thanks.so,do you offer help somewhere with percent multi step word problems?
I`m a 7th grader and i recently had to miss school because I was out sick...once i returned to shool i had a TON of work to do...solving proportions was one of the lessons i had missed. Unfortunatley, I didn`t understand it at all..my teacher & my mom tried to explain it to me but I just didn`t get it...So I had to rely on the internet as my only source...I came across this video, and after watching it I am confident that I will do well:)
Thank you for the helpful information. My math-book is so lame... proportions are easy, but math-books always make them seem hard. Anyway, thanks for the video.
I agree Petmaster495. I am taking basic mathmatics and I also said the same thing. The math books suck sometimes. You are right, they do make some simple problems harder. I always look always look elsewhere for help and to better understand some math problems.
Also, Thank you hkelmel for making this video. It really comes in handy.

I have a worksheet that has a bunch of buildings
ans one of them sas 452 meters
if the model of this building will be built with a ratio of
20: 1 centimeters what will be the height of the model in centimeters? where do I start?

@MrButtersbutter
Now we can solve for x: 20/1 = 452/x

just use the bowtie method!
x/15=6/10
15 times 6 divided by 10 equals 9 so x=9
so easy :)
