  • This was an awesome experince 4 me. This song takes me to a lovely place . Great!!!.

  • This sucks I'm going to Alvin and the chipmunks version

  • is there any type of sheet music for this version of the song? i cant seem to find anything other than the simple versions =-/

  • ahaha i'm sorry but I can't believe how horrible the drummer and bass player are. Piano is pretty good, but I can't here ANY bass and I've never seen a more awkward drummer. Come ALIVE a bit more guys.

  • Big Tune!!!

  • We played this for the ttrenton tn concert,i play trombone it was fun

  • I have a jazz version of this on my channel. I don't understand how people are saddened by this song. All it's saying if you feel it out as jazz somewhat requires, did all the BS of the day really matter? Excellent rendition.

  • it doesn't make me sad, its just a mellow song, kind of relaxing. thats probably what they mean.

  • Great versions dudes! I love Guaraldi's jams and you captured it nicely! Plus, the drum section looks like a Babe-raham Lincoln. just saying. :)

  • my favorite x-mas song

  • *sad walk*

  • It doesn't sound like a Christmas song No Jingles ?

  • Dude, that was awesome! Great job

  • Oh wow, you all sound so wonderful. This piece really makes me wish for Christmas again. Thank you for uploading this, you are all great performers. <3!

  • Wonderful song. It makes me incredibly depressed hearing it though, it's just got a sad mood to it. Still, O Tannenbaum makes me even more upset

  • i totally get that --- I think that t's the sentiment of longing the song portrays .. wishing that the spirit of Christmas could remain as the last line indicates - " OH that we could always see such spirit through the year "

  • big empty stage. perfect.

    from the same place,

    somewhere in california

  • I absolutely love this song and you guys played it well i am really pleased and it really feels like christmas now.

  • Some music is best when you can sit back and just soak it all in. This is one of those songs, and yours is one of those performances. The acoustics of the hall just add to the sound of the video instead of detracting. Thanks for warming my musical soul on a cold night (34 degrees now); I think I'll click play again!

  • that was awesome!!!!!!!!

  • I love this song and you all played it very well. Thank you for sharing!

  • this was really great pretty much flawless. i have a question... where did you find the music to this version? i have the guaraldi version, but not the proper recorded version. it came in the charlie brown book, and that's the best version i can find, after searching the net for a long time. are you just playing it by ear? if you did find the music for it, it'd be great if you could write back where you found it. thanks so much! you're very talented

  • god, you are vulgar.

  • i hate kawai pianos.

  • This makes me wish I finished my piano lessons....darnit!

  • Ever since this was uploaded I've had it playing in the background when I had to write my term papers. I really appreciate you putting this up.

Have you ever considered playing the Vince Guaraldi trie version of O Tannenbaum?

  • Thanks very much. I've played through all of the songs at one time or another, but not necessarily with a trio--more like family parties.

I would like to do O Tannenbaum! If they're doing a holiday concert this year that I'm free for, I'll try to put together a trio.

  • @alexbt I wanted to follow up on this thing I posted so long ago. This video inspired me to learn piano. I don't expect to make a profession out of it, but I am having fun learning. My goal is to be able to play most moderately difficult songs on my own.

I'm slowly trying to learn this song on my own, while continuing my lessons.

  • @twobitmage I'm glad to hear that I've inspired someone and that you're sticking to it! I was a self-taught pianist for five years and only been through one and a half years of actual piano lessons when this was recorded. Send me an email at alexbt@me.com and I'll send you the transcription I used.

  • EXCELLENT! I wish I was there.

  • very inspiring. excellent job!

  • Sounds sooo beautiful! The only problem I noticed is that you can't hear the bass. I envy the heck out of you for the piano part...wow! I would love to be able to play like that.

  • This particular hall really sucks the life out of any bass-ranged instruments.

I think we had talked about amplifying the bass... I think someone told her she could borrow a pickup, but then they ended up not having it. Oh well!

  • wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowow

  • Fabulous, fantastic, terrific and all this with a Kawai piano and shakey cameraman! Hope you revideotape this song professionally and repost it for 2008. PS - kudos to the two lady musicians. You've all got talent!! Thank you and belated Merry Christmas.

  • Ty this helped my dad with playing those triplets in the begining of the song. He was having trouble with that timing cause it is kind of weird..

  • nice

  • Somehow this reminds me of the Violent Femmes..

  • this is EXACTLY how i would play the Gauraldi stuff if i could. Blessed are you man

  • Very nice! Helps put me in the Christmas Spirit.

  • me too. we should wear santa hats today in remembrance of christmas. <3!

  • amazing piano

  • wow, very well done.

    5 stars

  • MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIEND

  • It's wonderful to hear someone the full instrumental piece. wonderfully done!

  • The drummer is so cool!

  • You sound great! Very good pianist.

In defense of the Kawai. From the sound of it, it is not kept in a very friendly place.

Sounds very heavy, humidity like surrounding.

I think the piano is off pitch somewhat, but at what pitch it is at, sounds very nice.

The action is sluggish because of the humidity that it is kept in.

    Brent

  • We have a Steinway also, which is kept in the same space, and it was never that bad.

We've since swapped pianos with one another Kawai from another room, and it's much nicer... unless you need to play in that other room now...

  • wow couldn't be anymore jazzy than this. Thanks for this ^_^ music should be regarded as a gift to a listener point of you and should be thanking you guys!!

  • As a jazz major, I can say that this is very well done. Definitely captures the quintescential Guaraldi feel. Keep it up!

  • Thanks so much to you and everyone else with the kind words.

I think I may try this again sometime now that I've got a few more years under my belt.

  • hi! the piano is great...you are able to understand the Vincent spirit! thank you...

  • mm this is wonderful.

  • Great video and performance! Now I'm in the mood to put our tree up.

  • "I don't know, Linus. I just don't really feel all that great at Christmas." You can hear the dialogue, can't ya?

  • nice peaceful

  • i thought you did a great job!

  • Wonderful!

  • What a nerdball. I think he's Ben Folds' retarded cousin.

  • What?

  • You just made it feel like Christmas in August... A traditional San Francisco overcast, cloudy, damp Christmas...Looking forward to this holiday season thank you very much.

  • omg same here, it feels likes Christmas with this song playing on a cold rainy day.

  • Almost sounds like the original. Good job.

  • Gorgeous!

  • oh my god i need to play this song for a school christmas concert and if u have the sheet music for this version i would appppppppreeeeeciiiateee it a lotttttttttt wow

  • too bad the piano/bass were bogged down by the distracting drums.

hihat closing on count 1 = nope.

  • I would LOVE to know if I can get a copy of that arrangement...its completely fabulous!!!

  • The piano part is in print actually--it's from a book of Vince Guaraldi transcriptions of his other work, including a couple of other Charlie Brown tunes. Just looked on Amazon--there are two books now, both called The Vince Guaraldi Collection. There's a new one transcribed by Philip Keverin, and the Piano / Artist Transcription, which is what I was using. I'd think the new one might be a bit better? There were some mistakes in the one I was using.

  • SO RELAXING> Thanks for posting!

  • wow, i love this piece and you have done a great job, never stop playing Vince's pieces....they rawk!

  • One of the most beautiful tunes ever (not just Christmas). Bravo!!!

  • good

  • beautiful, absolutely beautiful

  • I Agree on the Comment about the Kawai pianos... bad action... not good for jazz...

    Anyway, great theme!!

  • Very, very beautiful! Thank you for posting. :)

  • cool! Merry Christmas!

  • That was really good.

  • Really a perfect rendition. Guaraldi would be proud. You deserve a lot of views here.
