  • Perfect!

  • Learning this piece to, and she really inspires me to play even better, and try harder when practising!! :D

  • I'm way not better than she is....... but I am in orcastra

  • I'm currently learning this piece - fml...

  • the most beautiful song ever

  • how can someone play this beautiful! I love this!

  • Forgot how much I loved this piece... Been years since I ran into it.

  • magistral interpretacion. Felicitaciones

  • Bravo!!!

  • We played this at the end of our son's funeral. It's such an emotional piece and it fitted the service perfectly. Sarah plays it superbly, but I must admit to finding Mutter's playing a tad more "touching".

  • who's the composer?

  • @ziriguidumtelecoteco The composer is Jules Massenet, from his opera "Thais"

  • @John1Can Thanks!

  • Absolute Perfection! This performance ripped my heart out.

As humans, we often treat each other poorly. Hearing something like this proves that there are people contributing love and beauty. I can't imagine living without art like this.

Oh hell, I cannot find words to express this. Just watch it, enjoy, and fall in love! Bravo!

  • increditable!!!

Parabens!!!!!S A R A H !!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Maravilhosa!!!!!

  • FICO COMOVIDO AO VER ESSA ESSA CARINHA ORIENTAL TÃO MEIGA E LINDA. MAS, MUITO ALÉM DA BELEZA FÍSICA, SE SOBRESSAI A BELEZA INTERIOR, DESSA BELA GAROTA AMERICANA. NÃO ENTENDO DE MÚSICA CLÁSSICA, NÃO TOCO NENHUM INSTRUMENTO, MAS NEM POR ISSO DEIXO DE APRECIAR E ADMIRAR O ESTILO E A TÉCNICA APRIMORADA DESSA VIOLINISTA. FICO IMAGINANDO, AO VER UM VIDEOCLIP EM QUE ELA APARECE, COM APENAS OITO ANOS, TOCANDO SEU VIOLINO COM A FILARMÔNICA DE NEW YORK, O EMPENHO E A DEDICAÇÃO QUE ELA TEVE A VIDA TODA.

  • Anche mio padre adorava questa musica :-) .

  • This music remembers my father!!! :D

  • I love love LOVE Sarah so much! She gives so much passion to this piece it's hard to dislike. I am playing this in march and I hope I can play it evens quarter as well :)

  • This is the most beautiful melody in the world, especially done by Sarah Chang! nellie49

  • Her smile is what makes her so lovable and charming, and she is what adds to the music to make it Heavenly.

  • I am playing this for my senior solo. If I achieve half of this greatness, I will be happy.

  • I love the way she interacts with both the concertmaster (lead violin) and the conductor, leading to a perfect performance of what has to be my favorite solo piece of all time!

  • Meditation From Thais by Gheorghe Zamfir

  • Such perfect intonation... wow.

  • I love this piece. To hear Sarah Chang interpreting it is a pleasure, she really puts the right amount of passion to make it unique. Thank you Retardico for the posting.

  • This music is from the Heaven

  • @MrDavidyuan In agreement! There is no other way to describe it.

  • this is D most beautiful piece of classical music ever!

  • ooh ! This is one of my favorities violin's compositions . She plays dramatically

  • The way she interprets this piece leaves me speechless. I can totally feel the passion coming through. This is just perfect=) I aim to be able to play as well as her one day=)

  • SIMPLY the *BEST* Violonist in the WORLD today. That simple. I am MESMORIZED.

    Barbara Todres/NYC

  • @lovingee1 I fully agree! I'm mesmerized myself!

  • I love you.

  • wow....Sara Chang- another person to add to my list of people who inspire me! i love the way she smiles as she's performing, it's so charming.

  • Prachtig stuk.

  • LOOK AT YOUR VIOLIN! NOT THE WORLD!

  • Her whole body and soul goes into playing the musical piece on her violin. You can actually see her energy flow with the music. Heavenly! Such artistry and talent!

  • Sarah Chang...the mermaid.

  • spellbounding

  • I love how she interacts with the conductor during all her playing and especially how she smiles at the end of her pieces.

  • I ditto fiddlerwolf's comment. It doesn't get any better than this rendition. BataanBoy.

  • beautiful

  • SARAH PLAYS WITH A MAIMOSA WOOD BOW AND A DARBO STUDENT FIDDLE - COMBINED PRICE: $89.95 - SEE WHAT YOU CAN DO WITH YOUR PIGGY BANK MONEY - NOW SHUTUP AND LISTEN TO THE SOOTHING SINGING OF THE MASTER FIDDLE!

PS - DO NOT REPLY TO ME, LEST I INTERRUPT THE CONCERT BY SAYING HORRIBLE THINGS TO YOU!

PLAY ON SARAH, YOU DE LADY!

  • What a talented lady!!!

  • mere words could never express the emotion that I feel listening to this alien yes alien for she cannot be from this world but froma kinder more considerate and thoughful one.I thank for a glimse of that world Sarah.

  • 3:20-3:21 that effect is magic

  • Wow, her play is filled with so much soul, passion, and tenderness at the same time. I am toally involved by her play.

  • What an amazing, receptive performer. This is the first time I've seen her play and it was a joy. ^_^

  • It's so amazingly beautiful, and she looks like she's having fun!

  • favorite version on youtube! by far.

  • i love watching the string section bows, lol, i dont play a string instrument but wow i kinda want to now

  • I'm not a string player, but to my eyes it is amazing to see her apparently change directions with the bow while maintaining a sustained note. I didn't know that could be done.

Gracias!!!

  • So beautiful, so heavenly.

  • sarah chang is one of the very few that can play a song just as its written, add her own style, and yet also give it a sense of uniqueness that will never bore anyone :)

  • Sensational! Absolutely stunning use of the violin.

  • This interpretation bowled me over.

  • If you want to try some interesting pieces for violin and piano of a contemporary athor, see Stefano Semprini Sonatas for violin and pianos edited by ArsMusica Edizioni!

  • I LOVE YOU SARAH :) <3

  • No hay palabras para describir tanta belleza.

  • My favourite song of all time - this is the best rendition I have heard, such an amazing virtuoso - I'm spellbound!!!

  • music such as this is meant to touch your soul and break your heart.....

  • She really makes me wish that I played the violin better... Well, I guess it's time to go practice.

  • @Bwun13313 you and I both

  • how can I play violin again after hearing this? O:

  • superbe, divin.

  • This inspired me to play the violin

  • A wonderful violin piece of Massenet !

  • the best! Sarah we love you.

  • Huge smile at the end. Love it. She really enjoys each and every performance.

  • I love the crying child at the beginning, and Sarahs' and members of the orchestras' smile.

  • Placido Domingo

  • FYI..........Sarah plays a 1717 Guarneri del Gesu violin that she received from none other than Isaac Stern. I believe she has earned it, yes?

    peace

  • 4:32-4:37 gets me every time

  • É A EXPRESSIVIDADE MÁXIMA QUE SE CONSEGUE COM UMA MULHER E UM VIOLINO!!!

  • I wonder if the couple standing up in the aisle getting a better view were popular with the rest of the audience ?

  • @lovemetu

Perhaps they are also part of the German holidaymakers who always put their towels on the deck chairs at the hotel swimming pool before anyone else can sit on them !!

  • @lovemetu

Sun loungers are the thing that the Germans get their towels on before anyone else !!

Getting back to the music, yes Sarah makes her Violin sing out like an enchanted bird in this wonderful recital of 'meditation de thias'. Sarah Chang is a very gifted woman who plays with so much soul in her music and to me she is the best violinist and most entertaining at her art in the world.

  • Sarah Chang is the perfect Virtuoso Violinist. I have been so lucky to have seen her play live many times life and yes these many youtuber critics sit on their backsides saying bad things about her and many indeed claim to be better than her, ok yes lets see you then !!

But to all lovers of good music she remains a small island of beauty and calm amongst a sometimes ugly and distorted world of violence and strange values

  • some people here need to learn the real value of music.

Soloists don't get this good because they try to be as good as others.

In other words, this is hér style. NO change is needed.

If anything should be better, she is the only one who knows what she wánts to be better.

stupid idiots talking about too wide a vibrato, not good bow distribution...

play the piece yourself and then talk!

I never heard a musician who's well respected talk about another musician playing bad.

  • @JPLGaGa123

Your comment is word for word a copy of a comment by @kleinesscutter posted 8 months ago on the Ann-SophieMutter plays meditation from Thais on youtube . Cannot you think of your own comments without copying others to try to make yourself look clever ?

  • @no1knowledge I dont remember listening to Ann Sophie Mutter's Meditation de Thais.. My brother probably posted that.. He loves classical music as much as I do and he sometimes copies other people's comments. (He has speech and writing disabilities) so that wasn't but dont blame my brother too :( sorry

  • @JPLGaGa123

Ok , that is a good reply, but it is a problem if you are letting others in your friends and family have control of your own personal channel, perhaps I can respectfully suggest that your brother should perhaps get his own channel on youtube so that he can put down his own comments to avoid these type of situations happening again, so this would avoid having comments being written in your name that were not really applicable to your own opinions.

  • @no1knowledge Yeah but I sorta agree with his comment (even though it was a copy paste LOL) and my parents think he is too young to responsibly handle having an online account (he's 10)

  • yeah but my parents think he is too young to responsibly handle having an online account (he's 10) plus I agree with his copy pasted comment

  • I loove how she removed her bow from the string at the end

  • c'est belle

  • 4:23, At first I thought it was cute, but then I realized.. wow, way to block everyone behind you...

  • beauty at its finest

  • Sem palavras...

  • She it the best !

  • wow...

  • beautiful

  • This certainly the very best performance of this composition that i have ever seen. BRAVA!!!

  • Stunning. She seems to play it effortlessly. Speechless

  • I hate it when violinists play this piece without at least having the context of the opera's story under their belt, but this performance was a splendid relief! I felt the same uplifting, romantic sense of the divine listening to this. It really put me in the shows of Thais, who was contemplating the words of her would-be lover and her nihilistic views of life.

  • Performed in Italy??

  • @Vivnini Convengo, I simplemente can' ¡t consigue bastantes!

Accosento semplicemente, I can' la t ottiene abbastanza!

  • The final note is so exquisite it always leaves me close to tears. The best rendition I've experienced -- and with so much passion!

  • This is the best version of this song I have heard.

  • The cool thing is, she always closed her eyes when playing the violin XD

  • Beauty

  • Beautiful,so very touching.

Sublime

  • Sooo Beautiful !! Bravo

If others Mditaion of Thais I've heard are sound from 30 years,

it sounds like from 60 years experience.

    Mature, Deep, Composed sound ...

    Real meditation ~

  • This is sooooooooo pretty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I have listened to at least 15 versions of this piece. This is by far my favorite. Hats off to Sarah!

  • Speaking only for myself ... this is the most beautiful, touching rendition of this piece, I have ever heard ...

  • really annioying how the images never match the sound...

  • the timing is good, that is a relief a lot of people time it so badly I just cannot listen to it... but this it timed good finaly someone understands how the piece is made and how it needs to be played!

  • 6:06 OMIGOD. SOME ONE BOOED. I WILL SHOOT THEM IN THE FACE. other than that, this was a beautiful performance. i like sarah chang a lot.

  • Beautiful performance and Ms. Chang certainly emotes her love for being on stage and pleasing the audience. The only technical detail having to do with this video that would be nice to fix if possible is the fact that the sound track and video are slightly out of synch.

  • Absolutley wonderful, great violinist, great conductor and great orchestra

  • shes exordianry!

  • Beautiful... as if it were music from Heaven

  • My mother had an old 78 record back in the early 1950's. This violin solo was on the record. I was put to sleep many times by this arrangement. I don't remember right now who the violinist was, but every note was perfect. Not until Sarah have I heard this piece played like the original! It brought back so many memories! 7 stars out of 5 for you Sarah!!!!!!!

  • @mrb17f1 I first heard this violin solor in the 50's. The music was coming out of a loadspeaker for the grand opening of a music store in Appleton Wi. They were giving the record away as a promotion. I took it home and even as a child I cried when I heard it . It is truly God inspired!

  • she plays wonderfulllllllll

  • wow! impressive performance!!!

  • I'm getting annoyed after listening to this song over and over again. my mom makes me watch these videos for practice. I think this song is beautiful anyways.

  • absolutely beautiful! exactly how i think it should be played - but perhaps the vibrato was a bit strong - just my personal opinion though.

  • The violin sounds nicer than the piano version :) she's really good :)

  • @Aslayna she is better than good :D

  • Sarah....

you're so sweet .... and your music touches deep within every heart.

    remains always nice ...

    Réfléchis avant de parler

  • ineschoupa a raison!!
