her hands might not be the best, but her arms are so much more fluid than any russian i've seen! sure, she might not have great technique either, but i would love to see her when she is older!!!
@ha347282 Before you criticize this beautiful dancer's interpretation, you might want to get your ballets straight. Odette is a character in Swan Lake. This is "The Dying Swan," a short piece created for Anna Pavlova.
I think this is a variation for a mature dancer, she is very young and while she has very lovely technique and grace, this variation is meant for the dancer to feel and embody the death of odette Wich she did not do because she is eleven years old.
@balletobsessed666 OK my age-timing may be a bit off...but I have seen her dance,... in fact she was a fellow-student with my son (also a ballet student) in school in Manhattan, and yes, she is now and will be quite remarkable...I have been observing B. dancers for 25 years now, and I feel that I can tell when one will be important....
It was abviously "elegant" enough for the golden medal...
Don't be so harsh on her, the variation probably wasn't her choice, plus the girl was really stable en pointe and her techique was sound. Honestly, I can't say the same for most youngsters I see performing en pointe nowadays.
You have a point here - it IS a variation for a more mature dancer. Actually, it is quite challenging even for a prima. I am 23 and still do not dance it the right way.
Yet the girl was a nice change for me...we keep watching these Blue Bird-variations etc. that are considered appropirate for a young dancer. They just raised the bar, I guess...
She did a beautiful job but this truly is a ballet meant for more experienced (not technique-wise, but in regards to life experience) dancers. It requires a delicacy and sorrow that must be experienced before it can be danced with the proper character.
she is very talented watched some other girls videos for the very same gala adn they are poor in technique and have no strength for pointe . bravaaaa bravaaaa wath a beautiful swan
Also, I work at a bird sanctuary with Trumpeter Swans - watching the swans, and their interactions, is what sparked my interest in swans in art and history, especially the music in this piece, "The Dying Swan". After watching so many graceful swans, every day, I think you did a wonderful job of portraying them! Such a beautiful interpretation of what I see on the lake every day. Thank you again.
That was very beautifully and gracefully danced! What wonderful artistry you have for someone so young. You definitely have a very bright future as a ballerina! Bravo!
Agreed. I accidentally hit thumbs down on this comment, but I meant to hit thumbs up, and it won't let me change it. Anyway, this performance is such a treat. Thank you.
I really, really, really like your dancing. It makes me happy inside. Thanx for sharing ;)

Someone could have told me she was sixteen and I would have believed them. She's so graceful she could be a principle dancer someday

@Yanaballerina you're right. The girl is really beautiful; the problem is,she's
too young to have the correct interpretation.

I have to say congratulations on that performance, you have to be so strong to be on pointe and it shows how strong and how amazing you are.
I have to say i loved the feeling that you portrayed in your arms and loved how you seemed to give everything to that performance!! bravo!!
