About the nazis and all that stuff you're talking about, i think that the band wouldn't read those kind of comments on their videos guys, they're musicians and they don't care about politic, it's just about a piece of good energy, that's all, forget your stupid focalisation on politic all the time, it's just ugly.
Nazis lol They DID invent modern rocketry. Hell they even invented the first space suit...of course it took several dozen of my poor hebrew brethren to get it right. Who gives a shit and what does it have to do with Husker Du. I think this song is like a subtle hint to stop raging out over useless divisions. Out of the millions of men that died under the banner of facism, dont you think a few them prolly loved their wives, their kids, their pets, and rather have stayed home than fight?
@leeharveyosmosis , what I remember from seeing them live was Bob Mould essentially bi-amped a Fender Twin Reverb into a Marshall head & 4x12 speaker cab, then added chorus & delay. The whole concept was a "wall of sound"....hearing it live was like a sonic Niagara Falls.
@ffairlane57 I got to see Husker Du also , I always wondered why he liked the Flying V guitar . It seeded silly somehow . The guy kicked ass all over that guitar however .
I think as time passes more and more folks will come to understand the importance of Husker Du's work..... pure angst propelled at just the right speed with just enough of a hook to make it memorable...... awesome
@beelzabubba Aye, it's exactly the combination of angst & melody which makes them so special. I don't think any band has been able to nail this sensibility so effectively since their demise.
@cornbreadjunkie dude classic album great cover sst ruled then bro oh yeah early exodus release for those metal heads that think hardcore was for crazies
@heroiniskindacool I didnt say it was. I was commenting about the Reagan era feel to the song. It was an era I grew up in. Who said I was a liberal? He did Good things too? WTF kinda excuse is that? So did the Nazis; Hitler loved his dog Blondie. If you want to defend Reagan, Id suggest another form a music. From Dead Kennedys to Reagan Youth, he's rightly slammed. Have some more heroin ok??
@pele6922 "The Nazis did good things too"? Man you couldn't be more wrong. Check your history before you comment. Typical liberal...telling someone with a different point of view that they should listen another type of music.
@mld9991 maybe Enlgish isnt your first language and so I will forgive you. The commenter Heroin said Hitler did good things, not me. I was quoting him and asking him WTF? BUT some Nazis did good things like fighting against Hitlers plans and attempting to kill him. There were heroes on both sides on the war, not just the US. I think this is enough on this topic.
@pele6922 How does it feel to still be so clueless after all these years? Reagan was the best President of our lifetime. No one else even comes close. Not to mention that Reagan has absolutely nothing to do with Husker Du's music and I'm not sure why he was even brought into this conversation.
@mld9991 Reagan dealt guns to Saddam, traded arms for hostages, fired air traffic controllers, ran up a huge debt, tried to take credit for the fall of Communism, failed to respond when 243 Marines were killed in 1983 but invaded Grenada the same week. The reason you dont know what he has to do with Husker Du is because you butted in to a conversation I was having with someone else. So pay attention or shut the fuck up? Has trickle down economics made it to you yet? Me either.
@pele6922 I love pissing off you liberals. It's so easy! I didn't know YouTube comments were private conversations that weren't allowed to be "butted" into. You lefties claim to be so tolerant of everything and everyone but you're really only tolerant of people that agree with you totally. Reagan, along with Thatcher & Pope John Paul II WERE responsible for the fall of Communism...It's beyond the point of historic debate. He brought hope again to the US and got our economy roaring again.
@mld9991 I'll butt into this one then. "You liberals" LOL. How about get over yourself? Hey everybody look at me I'm slightly more right wing than the average punk so let's tell everybody on Youtube and prove my intellectual superiority. This song is great, you're not.
@willthebighead Try reading the thread before you reply. I wasn't the one who brought up politics. My point is this...Why does everything have to be political with some people? It's just a song. Relax.
@mld9991 Ok let me tell you since you stumbled into a conversation:
FFairlane57 said this song has that Reagan era feel to it. 11 people voted up. I commented I was glad that era was over having lived through it and for all the reasons I wrote you. I like Husker Du and no not everything is political but right wingers are always so knee jerk reactionary. Are we done with this?
Count me as another person who loves this song for its lyrics backed up by musical instrument s played in a frenzy. I lke this song today as much as I did when it first came out.
