  • Fucking hell that wipe out noise is eerie as hell.

  • Is this not a rip -off of turnabout with Rob Curling.

  • this aint the 2000mph jet racing game on ps1

  • Diasies hair looks like a meringue fell on her head before the show and she didnt notice......LOL

  • I much prefered the look of the bob monkhouse vertion x

  • Bob Monkhouse killed Wipeout.

  • RIP PETER TOMARKEN (host of the US version)

  • lovely

  • so Debbie, what attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?

  • I liked both versions. Each reminds me of a different stage in my life. However this Friday night version WAS very cool - I used to rush home from my piano lesson to watch it!

  • The daytime version with Bob Monkhouse was so poor compared the pizzaz of the original with Mr Daniels. Great stuff!

  • Interesting you should comment - I was about to say I preferred Paul's version prior to seeing your comment. I think it was changing the prize structure (ie to £50 per correct instead of a progressive £10, £20, etc)

  • Who agrees with me that Paul does it better than Bob Monkhouse?

  • Not me. Bob was great.

  • Paul Daniels....Creepy

  • I used to LOVE this show when I was young.. Didn't like Bob Monkhouse's version as much though! Thanks for posting!

  • Bob Monkhouse was very funny on his version. Thing was, he often used to say if the answers were right or wrong before the big screen could show us. Don't know why the producers let him do that.

  • I don't think there was any other member of staff!! apart from a floorman LOL

  • paul did so many great games shows.

    thanks for posting this.

  • what about the bob monkhouse era

  • Paul really hosted Wipeout really well.Well done Paul.

  • OMG Daisy's hair!

I loved this show. I used to watch it before going to nursery every day : D

  • (2:51) aghh!

why does that Wipe out buzzer startle me bad!?!

  • I know what you mean... I always jumped when I heard it lol

  • Almsot like an elongated No that noise. Love it though.

  • This is even faster than the orginal American version.

  • Its faster than the original broadcast because challenge tv have done a bad job editing it. When it was first on BBC Paul Daniels frequently added interesting(?) facts about the answers and other bits of small talk. This and other versions you rarely get that - just a run of answers.

  • Why can't Challenge do what Dave (ex-UKTV G2) does? Have the 30-minute show fit in for 40 minutes to fit both adverts AND extra footage. That would make more sense.

  • Challenge did do that but they got sick of the schedule looking odd so they cut the BBC shows down by just under 10 minutes...

  • it was actully only cut 4- 5 mins out of it,

  • 3 subjects. now thats better!

  • That is why in that challenge cut the bits out, i dont know why.

  • i enjoyed Paul Daniels, i'd like to see turnabout be re-broadcast

  • Let's see now... Turnabout, proper wipeout, big break etc

Id present wipeout, turnbabout or going for gold IF the bbc were to do a betetr evrsion than the Five crap.

  • wow!

  • What a fantastic "forgotten" show. It would be great to see other classics on Challenge in the future like Leslie Crowther's Price is Right.

  • You Mean Bruce's Price Is Right.

  • No I mean The Price is Right with Leslie Crowther, made by Central TV between 1984-1988. Bruce's was OK but it's time Leslie's got a look in.

  • Damn right - Leslie's show was far superior in my opinion.

Likewise I would love to see Leslie Crowther's era of 'Stars in their eyes' again - he was a far better host than the king of smarm in my opinion.

  • He was great on Stars in Their Eyes. Matthew Kelly was very good too. Cat Deeley I found boring on that programme and she I believe killed what was a great show. I have most of the early years on DVDs and I never get tired of watching them.

  • SOOOOOO much better then the Bob Monkhouse version!

  • Well Bob's version did have a slower daytime feel to it.

  • In fairness, Bob Monkhouse was good on Wipeout. It's just that the set/music etc. changes made for that version were dreadful.

  • Well consider the daytime music for wipeout was done by simon etchell, who also did the music for the nick weir version of catchphrase.

  • Great this is on Challenge - they're really looking to the hidden gems now.
