Notice how good 'ol Scrooge walks into the passageway which has a horizontal roof-line framed by 2 round pillars...when the scene switches to where he watches Tiny Tim run up to him, it's an arched, rounded enclosure...not very good "continuity"...
One of the best stories ever told; I never tire of watching this version.
I would, however, have had the temerity to ask Mr.Dickens to have included Scrooge's reunion with Alice; she was, after all, still alive,as we saw from Scrooge's ordeals with one of the spirits. To me that would have given an even more satisfying conclusion to this wonderful Christmas tale.
@thrippleton In Dickens' "Christmas Carol", the fiancee married after they left one another. She had a large brood of children of her own, and the spirit allows Ebenezer to witness and feel some jealousy. It does not say "Alice" is unmarried. There is only so much room in a movie to narrate such a masterpiece. It is likely a lot must be left out. Redemption is the definitive conclusion for Dickens' and after all, what better conclusion is there for a human? =)
The most delightful version that I've ever seen! Wonderful! Thank you for posting it! I just love the scene with the woman who brings his washing up bowl--priceless! I just love to see him dance around like a marionette!
I am almost 60 years old now and remember seeing this version every Christmas when I was a little boy..It is the most touching and beautiful of all the versions..I still cry when Scrooge bares his utter soul to his beautiful niece and she welcomes him back to our common humanity....
Wonderful and heatwarming end! Like others have said, this is by far my favorite Christmas Carol. I've watched it every year for at least 20 years. The faithful storyline, the acting, especially that of Scrooge, music and narration are classic. Thanks much for the upload.
This is quite easily my favorite adaption of the story. A Scrooge who is played as someone you want to see redeemed instead of just evil, keeping the fear and atmosphere of it as a ghost story, actually going into details about his sister which I find the most important thing, as otherwise he's pretty much just a jerk to Fred for no reason, and the soundtrack is WONDERFUL and really memorable. I watch it every year and I'm sucked in every time.
Unlike a lot of versions that drags at the ending, this film is satisfying from beginning to end. This is one of my all time favorite movies and my all time favorite version of a Christmas carol
Thank you so very much for uploading this wonderful movie, and in such good quality! It's my family's favorite, as well. :) (We own it, but as I'm away from home, it's nice to view it with such convenience.) Merry Christmas!
The expression on Bob's face when he receives his raise has to be the most perfect look of speechless astonishment I have ever seen.

What does the little boy say when Scrooge tells him to go and get the turkey -- it sounds like "wonker"

The picture quality is excellent, especially when compared with the garish colourised version.

Shyewolf, thankyou for your observations. Obviously I did not watch the film carefully enough, though I've seen it many times.
A satisfactory conclusion then,I think.
Merry Christmas to you and to all Dickens devotees.
