i would never do what your saying, because the gun could go off!, i would only attempt to disarm someone using a gun, IF i have had military or police training, cause they are the guys who know what they are doing.
I am a Law Enforcement officer,a Hand to hand combat specialist with over 30 years experience. It would prove worthy for you too attain some formal training, you have no idea what you are doing...you are putting this video out there showing a supposed handgun disarm, if anyone attempts what you are showing they will be killed. Also it shows you have no knowledge of firearms, it is the muzzle, not a nozzle, it would be a nozzle if someone was mugging you with a garden hose !
I will reply out of courtesy to you in regard to your gun disarm question. First of all I cannot show you anything because you do not live anywhere near me and I cannot demonstrate in words either. I suggest you locate your local Police Dept. and ask about sitting in on a Police Defensive tactics class. I will tell you from first hand experience as a Police Officer no one points a handgun at you in the manner.
@ojinga88 May I ask for your help in finding better tactics, or fixing this technique? What do you find faulty. Other than the muzzle thing. I know better now. This was an early training video.
Also Shinobi mystic, you should locate your local Police Dept. and ask to sit in on Defensive tactics class and learn from cops like me who have real experience in fighting on the street. You should also lose the mask and outfit, the ninja boom left in 80's
you forgot to mention that this technique will get you killed, clearly you need to go out and get some real experience with guns and you will find out that a pistol has a front muzzle and not a nozzle, also just to mention one important thing. Striking the inside of the arm on the wrong nerve will actually contract the fingers, IE the attacker will have a finger on the trigger, so striking that area will have an 85% chance of discharging the weapon and killing you. Every action has a reaction.
I have also heard of a technique where you let your feet "fall out from under you," and you may perform a judo hip throw from your crouching position. I appreciate your videos greatly, as you have much skill. :)
you know, you could try to use a paint gun or something, that way you could improve your skills without being shot. Anyway, its hard to disarm someone with a gun without getting hit
one thing i'd like to add. until you're in the line of fire you MUST assume a round is chambered. but after you take control of the weapon, make sure you chamber a round. if a round is already chambered you'll eject it but that's ok. this is the only way you can make sure that if needed you can fire the weapon.
Your technique is poor, I mena this in a practical sense; I am not just dissin. You should NEVER have your hands up, because the slightest movement is clearly visible and not expected; they will fire. Instead, they expect you to move your hands to put them up, in doing so disarm them. By moving to their blind side you decrease the turning force on the weapon; it is effective, but not practical because instead of your body in the way your right arm is for a split second longer. Instead grab...
Yes I understand. I want to make my training real, and I want to learn more about how to do this sort of thing. Thank you for your words they are enlightening and I will take them to heart. I will be posting more Gun disarm video's this summer and updated versions of these with what I have learned and gathered from the many comments. Thanks for your comment it is gold to me.
yeah always do this technique when they tell you to put your hands up since they anticipate your hands will already be moving up to the surrender position but won't anticipate you disarming them
You've heard of the 'adrenaline dump' right? I think those motor skills are too fine for an actual combat situation. Krav Maga has far more realistic techniques.
Also, in a video like this, you need to make it VERY CLEAR that compliance is the best technique. If someone points a gun at your face at that close of range, 9 times out of 10they are intimidating you, not trying to kill you, give em what they want. You know that most people who try this would end up dead. Safety first bro.
u have a point i can't lie if they wanted to kill u they would shoot u right away MOST OF THE TIME some people also will demand wat they want then after u give it to them they will shoot u and flee...so i was taught if they shove a gun in ur face..u disarm them and kill them with ur gun...cuz chances r their gun might not work...its brutal but its how we were taught and i like it
yes, that is harsh but in a kill or be killed situation that is the sensible and most logical thing to do. Especially if you have other people to protect.
yes you must think of where you are pointing the gun as not to harm bystanders, Pointing the gun to the heavens or straight to the ground is a safe way mike but you can't always do this in a life and death.
that is true, I have been doing more training at this, and I would love to see any gun disarms you know of. I think this is more important to train in than ever.
Why don't they shoot you and search the body? Compliance first and your own life first. If he's threatening to kill you, try to reason with him. If all else fails, you can try a disarm.
If he holds his gun close to his body and he maintains a safe distance (which he will if he's got half a brain), you're fucked either way.
1-star because this entire technique can be defeated by not having the gun be 4 inches away from the ninja's chest. 6 feet of separation would make this irrelevant.
Right. Thank you, sir. Better to take culculated risk than to be totally under the mercy of the terrorist. You never know what they will do to you next.
repeated practice of these combat applications brings proper use of speed, energy and power. And with these aspects a certain intuition of when to react. This is what is referred to as the higher levels of combat psychology and superior kinesthetic awareness.
It's also very important that the movement comes "out of nowhere" which means without pre-action tension in your muscles (easier said than done in a real situation). I've never trained with guns but I've trained similar situations with a person holding a knive at my throat from behind. If your move comes "from zero" (as we say in Systema) you're faster. Neighter my partner nor I were able to "slit" the others throat before the knive was removed.
I am not truly a martial artist, however I have fired many guns in my life. And I would like to point out that what kind of pistol it is matters alot. If its a revolver then putting a finger or thumb over or in front of the hammer will keep the gun from firing at all. I am uncertain what would happen witha semi-auto....but I think that putting your hand over or behind the slide could hurt you considerably if the discharge the gun. I've never tried it nor would I like to. Thanks for the video!
That is true my friend, the type of gun disarm you want to do all depends on the type of gun they are wielding. I have some techniques that are better suited for different types of guns.
Yes the gun slide could cut your hand, but it is better than getting shot.
i am quite happy with the way you took time to discuss the technique and not just demonstrating it..........real learning can take place here....thank you....
I tuck the gun into the bicep so it is against my body pointing away. I use the attackers extended arm to continue with a joint manipulation usually an elbow lock. That elbow to the face usually loosens the opponent up.
This is very easy to acomplish because you atack the wrist which is not that strong. Just try it out, I've even had the ladies strike my hand with a rubber gun and they have been able to get it out of my hands even with a hard grip. The whole technique needs your committed intention behind it for it to work properly.
I don't know because the X strike attacks the barrel with the left hand chop and the right hand at the wrist. So when the left hand hits the blade it would have to hit the side of the blade and one might get a nasty cut with the knife. However one needs to realize in any knife fight you will get cut it is just a fact of life.
I will be making a knife video soon, please watch out for it friend.
This is a great video! Thanks. Will be very fun to train. We are going to get a cap gun and then test functionality of all of our gun disarms. That way it is kind of obvious if you are not fast enough. *bow*
i just watched all ur vids...took long but i didnt learn as much as i thought i would. myabe cuz you teach basic martial arts and ive been doing it for 8yrs now.
so heres a request can you show me how to build leg strength easily, i didnt like the other vid that you done (im not criticising i like what ur doing) so can you show a easy and short way of making legs faster and stronger. thank you.
yes I make a lot of video's for people to learn the basics. You guyshave not seen most of the type of training I do because I never put it on camera yet.
There is no short and easy way in my opinion. To get strength I would reccommed hitting the weights and doing squats and deadlifts (get arnold's encyclopedia of bodybuilding or a book on powerlifting to learn) For speed you need to do sprints, plyometrics, and agility drills, there are some good books on these as well. Speed for kicks require drills with thaipads and heavybags, and sparring.
Just my opinion, write me back if you want to know more detail
Thank you master, I only wish to give to others the knowledge to protect themselves. Later I plan to explain the psychological preparations for the gun defense.
This is a great technique, but one thing you should watch out for is if you don't take the gun from them and just control it while you are hitting them with your elbow, if the gun holder fires the gun, the slide back action on the type of gun you modeled could break your hand. The best thing would be to make sure you take the gun from them before you worry about putting them in an arm bar. Great video though. 5/5
I thought by holding the top back end of the gun; called the action. With a the right hand cupping it. That it would prevent that slide back action you were describing which would keep the spring from moving. I dunno but you mentioned a very important aspect that I should add to my training.
Well, the sliding back action has a lot of force behind it. I have heard many times of people breaking their thumb because it was in the way of that part during their target practice. I'm not sure (nor would I test it personally) but I don't think just cupping it would work.
Now for a revolver gun, grabbing the revolving part hard enough prevents the trigger from being pulled, but you have to make sure you have a hard grip.
I have never seen this kind of disarming technique before; seems effective. Thanks!
I have, however, seen a Ninjutsu disarming technique which, contrary to your approach, emphasized controlling the opponent's knee. Are you aware of this technique?
Please be careful, and remember to practice the X chop and stepping off line. I use a foam gun too practice the chop with my training partners who have very little experience, however I think I may get a hard rubber or even a air soft gun in the future.
Thanks again for your wonderful comment, take care and stay safe.
That was an excellent vid Mike I enjoyed that one 5 stars . I like how you broke it down . The dubbing and music at the end was a nice touch . Thank you for sharing this . Thank your uke too
yeah good explaination, but you should always grab stifly on the slide of a pistol, so the next round cannot chamber. and back far away after you have control of the gun.
i like intro and clear speaking. i like this vid, when you move in and chop and redirect bullet try for fun whey you step use one foot to naturally step on the foot and cover so it is impossible for them to move and they cant kick. just try for fun.. great video. 5 stars

Attacking the wrist is key. This is true for ANY weapon / attack. Take out the wrist or control it and you should be safe.
Don't forget to get out of the way. First step to anything. Twist and/or step out of the way. Just like Shinobi Mystic said.
If you have to turn the gun into the attacker. You'd rather have the gun toward the ground or into the attacker than else where.

The best thing would be to make sure you take the gun from them before you worry about putting them in an arm bar. Great video though. 5/5
KiLanRay 3 years ago
I thought by holding the top back end of the gun; called the action. With a the right hand cupping it. That it would prevent that slide back action you were describing which would keep the spring from moving. I dunno but you mentioned a very important aspect that I should add to my training.
Thank you friend.
ShinobiMystic 3 years ago
Well, the sliding back action has a lot of force behind it. I have heard many times of people breaking their thumb because it was in the way of that part during their target practice. I'm not sure (nor would I test it personally) but I don't think just cupping it would work.
Now for a revolver gun, grabbing the revolving part hard enough prevents the trigger from being pulled, but you have to make sure you have a hard grip.
Thanks for the video friend.
