  • 03:45-07:45 sad story.

  • @Jacobmua, what did you or your parents believe when you still lived in Laos? Jesus or Animism?

  • exx123456 Shamanism truly hmong religion.

  • Good video and history of the Hmong people. It is however missing the truth. Hmong people need to know the truth. They need to know that Jesus is able to help them and set them free from their spiritual bondage. Hmong people practice Animism becasue they are forced to by fear of pain and death. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. He will set you free from the powers of Satan. I am a Hmong and a Christian for over 30 years and have experienced it in my own life.

  • Hi, where are you from and what's your name? and i was wandering how do you got a picture of my grandpa on your slide show, he was the one with the black outfit holding a stick and hitting the the shaman drum

  • @povhwmhmoob You would have to ask the author that question...I am just the editor, but what a coincidence!

  • hmong "hmoob" (yaj saying) is "hmoov" (yeeb saying) means luck or chosen. only 12 clan but evolved to 18. Our history goes back to a single mother who walked out of Africa into the middle east..

  • Hmong do love freedom. Hmong fought Chinese to keep their freedom, Hmong joint CIA to fight to keep his freedom. But freedom does not mean free. Hmong love freedom, but Hmong do not mean free. Mhoob nyiam nyob ywj siab, Mhoob nyiam kev ywjpheej tabsis Mhoob tsis yog "ywjsiab" los "ywjpheej".

  • I have nothing against Doctor Dao. But I remembered reading Doctor Dao's 1972 publishing book about Hmong population in Laos. In it he described Hmong as "Free". I believe some people still using his description nowadays. But to translate Hmong as "free" may be off the meaning.

  • Please do not stop short of just 18 last names. 18 last names excluded those in China and Vietnam. Plus, claiming 18 numbers is a little sours to the ears. Everyone keep saying that the last names are simply for the purpose of inter marriage only. Every Hmong is equally Hmong. Yet keep bringing up that number 18 up is a promotion of division.

  • @YawmZajlaug I understand YawmZajlaug, that you do not like the world "free" as a translation of "Hmong", but realize, more than two of my Hmong students have employed this term, not me. I am just the editor of this channel. My students are the producers, directors, narrators, video editors. Please explain to me how they made a mistake.

  • @opensourcebuddhism Hmong is an ethnicity....it has no meaning or definition. I'm really sickened whenever I see this quoted. Hmong people have a deep desire to be free, but it does not mean "free" in any way or form.....Can people just coin a term ...whatever they want without purpose? This is just stupid!!!!

  • As far as Hmong goes, there are only 18 Hmong clans....so what are you trying to say YawmZajLaug? There are hidden long lost Hmong clans or what?

  • @opensourcebuddhism Your students are misinformed or trying to coin their own term for Hmong which only they are aware of. Hmong does not mean "free". Hmong is just an identity and an ethnicity. It has no meaning. Why are white people so easily fooled by his students? One teacher said his student told him that the Hmong have to test a girl's fertility before getting married. He believed her....Please use your senses sometimes...

  • Please do not use that "FREE" again to describe we Hmong. "txiv ib tug Hmoob tuaj ntsib koj". She meant "Dad a person come to see you". She never meant "Dad a Free man come to see you".

  • @YawmZajlaug Yes, I totally agree and support your opinion and thought about the words Hmong mean Free or Hmong mean Free Dome. The meaning of Free and Free Dome does not come easy and free. It required high cost and effort before Free Dome can achieved. Base on my observation on open my eye to the world, we the Hmong still have a long road before come to achieve Free and Free Dome.
