Saddam killed many of his own people. He even killed members of his own family. The kurds only made up a small proportion of the masses he killed.

Also the point that we gave him chemical weapons and did not criticise him when he used them against his own civilians and then a good 15 years after the fact saying, look what he does with chemical weapons and that the man can't be trusted with WMD, is a very hypocritical argument, and not one that can be easily swept under the rug.

WMD is a blanket term that includes mustard gas.
