I remember recording some late night crappy ITV music show that had the video of this, and that tune that goes 'its like a fuckin library out there', at the time it came out, to think about the lengths you had to go to to just catch 30 secs of what you liked back then, now everything is just there at a click. I think everything is over saturated now, it just to take a tune a while to get known and grow and have a following now a tunes life is over in a second.

Also... Drum & Bass' roots lie deep in Jungle & Hardcore, so it is most definately influenced by all of the same things!!

A good opportunity to explore all the differences is at our 20th birthday party in a couple of weeks it will literally be a history lesson Acid House to upfron Drum & Bass. It's the biggest party in London this year!!!

The beauty of Acid House, then Hardcore and then Jungle was that there were a huge melting pot of ideas. It's not only Ragga Jungle that was influenced by Reggae... for really obvious reggae influenced hardcore look no further than The Prodigy, Experience is full of reggae samples. SL2 'On A Ragga Tip' is another obvious one.

Maybe... but remember, that jungle and drum'n'bass are not the same thing even though many people think or say so. Original jungle is reggae-influenced, dnb far from it.

jungle came from hardcore which was originated from house and techno. Ragge jungle was when producers starting adding reggae elements in to it. Many say when they started using a straight break and not the mashed amens is where dnb came from. in the mid/late 90's they started adding the techno element in thus creating tech step. from there it changed in to neuro. At the same time jump up is coming back in it's new form (all the wobbles n shit) Jungle didn't come from reggae but ragga jungle did.

Thanx for the clear explenation. Nice to read some proper information on this subject. I read in the book: "All Crews" That Jungle had a "bad name" in the industry and so the people came up with calling it D&B hoping it would sell better commercialy wise. Selling the same stuff under a new fresh name without the "bad vibe" around it. I dunnow how true this is but this is all I know/read/heard about it so far. :) Hope you can tell me more!

@MissVanSam From what I can tell(or wat I've seen) jungle has a huge "thug" following. Especially Ragga. It seems like everyone has to flex nuts and talk about shooting people and war. I imagine a lot of the thug gangsta element is brought from hip hop and rap dudes getting into jungle/dnb and thus giving it a bad name. Plus the fact that ragga primarily only uses samples about killing people or starting war..that doesn't help keep a positive image.
