I believe that the UK may have different standards for elite gymnastics than the US? because i go to a gym with no elites and we have girls competing with the same skills. Although I have no doubt that these girls are very talented and they seem younger than the US elites.
@jbsoccerzmusicz17 You're right, it's a different system. These girls would be on the elite path. That's much more comparable to our TOPs gymnasts (levels depend on age, elite-bound, focus on physical skills) than our elite.
If you watch enough British gymnastics, you'll find that they have a lot of extremely skilled very young girls who get to what we'd actually consider elite pretty early. I don't know why they're not more successful at big international competitions.
What a bloomin cheek! How dare you be so rude about young girls who have trained so hard and done so well. Shame on you. So where can we find footage of YOUR elite squad? Surely someone was proud enough to put it on here....?
There are three girls on this video. The one in white and red (and some other leotards!) is now 12, but was 11 when most of this was shot. She is Espoir and competed at the British championships last June. The other two are younger by one and two years. They are both on the elite path. One will compete in the british next year, and the other the year after.
Well done Charis and Catherine at the weekend. You guys are great - fab choreography as usual and routines performed to perfection. Good luck to Lucy for comp 2 next week - yeah London!!!
We dont have a proper gym. we have to set up all the apparatus in a school hall and can only get in 3 times a week. we go as visitors to a proper gym once a week and do some conditioning as well. So, yes, only 15 hours a week and one of these is in national squad and both of the others are in the top 20 for their age i the country.
hi i train at east london gymnastics club and i know most of these girls, good luck Bethan, Lucy and Caris(not sure i spelt caris right) for the future!
i competed against Charisma 3 years ago wen i was 9, even the younger girls in my age group were really good. they are a hard team to beat (i only came 6th lol!) but they are amazing!
wow!just imagine if charisma had a propa fully equipted gym...they would prob be one of the top ten teams in the country!:P......how u lot get a new gym soon!(i want somewhere to train:)
I really admire what you guys acheive - keep up the good work. Looking forward to 2008. PS love the floor routines - always a little different from the others in LGF.
