This is incredibly beautiful and sad.. it must be so hard to have so many people that you worked with and spent so much time with, in something so insular as the wrestling business, not around anymore. It would be heart breaking, and this tribute shows that. It's a sad indictment on the wrestling business, that not enough care was shown and is shown to the performers that entertain us. It's why so many are now gone, and in a lot of cases far too early.
I was born in 1983 and I started watching wrestling at the age of 4 and stopped after the attitude era most of the wrestlers in this video I have watched. Macho Man, Hawk, Big Boss Man, Texas Tornado, Mr Perfect, Owen Hart, British Bulldog, Elizabeth I have found memories of matches from these people and I'd like to say R.I.P and thank you for the entertainment.
@Nakatomiuk83 I was lucky to be born when you are. Those were indeed the golden years of wrestling. Now people care more about Paris Hilton and Jersey Shore. Too bad.

Yea we are sad and say we grew up watching these wrestlers but bret was close friends with all of them for many years, its like watching all ur old close school friends dying one by one. I wouldnt be able to hold it in like he did.
I wanted to cry watching this. I can't blame Bret as I too miss all the wrestlers he's mentioned. I grew up watching these guys and it hurts I'll never see amazing wrestlers like them again. Especilly Eddie Gurreo and Randy Savage.
Ever since he started out with Anvil and Jimmy Hart and going up against guys like the Bulldogs, the Bees and when he went solo, I've been a Bret Hart fan. His match with Davey Boy at Summerslam '92 and those with Mr. Perfect are my favorites. Still proudly display the old rubber LJN Hart Foundation action figures on my desk at work (had to buy new ones because the ones I had as a kid pretty much fell apart).
I started watching Wrestling 2007. Back then I was 10. My grandpa showed me Bert Hart and I instant loved him. This is still so! Now I'm 14 and I just can shake my Head when I see Monday Night Raw or Friday Night SmackDown!. I love this Bret Hart!
i cant stop crying every time i watch this video for a few reasons! 1 because i met bret hart 3 years and he hugged me,i was so chuffed my hero hugged me,2 because its only coming out now how close some of these guys were, the fact that they were tough guys on tv but in fact gentle sweet giants in person!!!!!!!!!!!3 beacuse of the fact that all the soft kind wrestlers are dyying or have died,eg eddie guerrero, test,mr perfect, ray taylor, lance cade!!!!!!4 because i cant believe how brave they are.
When it comes to some of those wrestlers it's as simple as saying drugs are bad. They get addicted and can't get clean due to the hectic schedule and some of their other buddies who might be into drugs.
Some might not want to stop, look at Umaga he turned down wwe rehab and passed away at only 36. Man what a screwed up business wrestling can be
Rick Rude particular touched the Hitman because he was the only wrestler who walked out directly after he got screwed in Montreal. and never went back to WWE.
@jghor23 Wow,i did not know that.....if thats true,i just gained a ton of respect for Rick Rude. Not that i never had respect for him.He was so talented not only as a wrestler, but he was the perfect heel.Sexy bad dude that had the devasting rude awakeing finisher.Nobody ever kicked out of it.(i think)
Sadly loads more since this Documentary was filmed passed-on. Lance Cade, Umaga & fellow Canadians Luna Vachon & Test etc (who Bret got Test into the business). RIP to all.
These guys are genetically gifted and tough as hell so it shows how much wear and tear pro wrestling has on the human body. I've loved wrestling my entire life but would never do it. Even if i had the abilty to. Such a rough life.
This, along with the broken bones, concussions, stitches, and crippling injuries is sadly the real part of pro wrestling. Love them, hate them, mock or criticize them, you have to respect these men and women who travel all over the world all year destroying their bodies to entertain the crowds.
So many of my WWF heroes are gone. Mr. Perfect, Big Bossman, Rick Rude, Davy Boy Smith, Owen Hart. All gone too early. May they all RIP and God bless them.
these men gave more than they ever should have,in some cases anyways...true talents indeed..i feel compelled to mention bam bam gordy, doctor death, bigelow, sherri martel, luna, eddie gilbert, chris adams,brody,mach...r.i.p...theres a stacked card in the 5th dimension brotha...
It truly does sadden me that all of these people that I grew up watching and enjoying their performances are no longer with us. I'm 35 and to think that these men and women are gone from this world never to entertain again really makes me think about those times when they were here. Too soon for all, but their memories will live on....I almost feel a part of me is missing when my childhood heroes are no more....Maybe that's what father time is all about. Godspeed to you and you will be missed

Wonderful interview bret gave about fallen "comrades" who have died in the wrestling business. Sadly now you can add Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit and Macho Man Randy Savage. I wonder what Bret meant when he said he'd never forget "what Rick Rude did for me." and calling him a hero. The only thing I can think was him leaving WWF for WCW following the Montreal Screw Job, anybody know what he really meant by his comments on Rude?
@Bull1908 yes Rick Rude stayed with Bret in the locker room at SS 97 when all the shit kicked off between bret & vince and Rick stuck up for bret and left WWF/WWE after and went to WCW and did an interview on it.
That is most likely why one of the best heels in the business is not in the WWE HOF but who would want to be in that crappy HOF they have people who don't belong in there everyone knows who I mean. lou thez HOF is the one to be in true legends in there.
This is one of the saddest things I've ever seen. Coming from a legend like the Hitman talking about the glory days of wrestling and how these guys are not here anymore is tragic. In a way we as fans share this grief too because these guys were our heroes and impacted our lives in a big way. Wrestling will never be as good as it once was. R.I.P. to those we've lost.
all the good wrestlers are dieing & pieces of shit like hogan & flair who arent half the wrestlers that the guys bret just mentioned were they killed wcw thats why they left wwe ill bet cause they couldnt milk it like they did wcw so now they are in tna & are milkin it & wont accept the fact that theyve had their time with fame & wont move over for the young up & comers
@gabethewrestler831 i want to get this DVD. what kind of stuff is on the rest of the DVD and how good is the whole thing overall? Bret Hart and Curt Hennig are my 2 favorite wrestlers ever. i think they really are the best technical wrestlers with some of the best amateur backgrounds in the business.
@niteholler Well it's basically Bret's career anthology DVD with a documentary taking you chronologically through his career. The documentary takes up 1 disc and then there are 2 others of matches from Bret's career. As with any other WWE DVD there are some great matches included but there are also some great matches missing. Personally I prefer the DVD that came out last year on Bret's entire family ("Hart & Soul") as they delve into a lot more things and it's a bit more personal.
@bredub63 Bret wrote in one of his columns that Rick Rude really stood up for him after the Montreal screwjob, phoned Eric Bischoff to explain the situation, and even quit the WWF over it.
this video always make me cry. those guys who are gone, though they have not been aworld champions or have any great mic skills, they are much more memorable than the likes of cena, orton, the miz and most of the wwe roster today. today's generation of wrestlers can never be remembered the same way as these guys. especially hennig, bulldog, owen, rude, bossman & hawk. these guys were never the main eventers but they are always better to watch than today's roster.
Two days before this DVD was realesed Eddie Guerrero passed away...so this was obviously cut before Eddie's Death...so since this DVD was cut we have lost Eddie, Sherri Martel, Bam Bam Bigalow, Earthquake John Tenta, Johnny Grunge, Chris Kanyon, Eddie "Umaga" Fatu, Chris Benoit, Nancy Benoit, and Daniel Benoit, Andrew "Test" Martin, Giant Gonzalez, Luna Vachon, Lance Cade, Brian "Crush" Adams, Lou Albano (but he was a bit older) and most recently the Legendary
I can only watch raw when bret or someone "old school" is on, there is just no characters these days. Taker is on his last legs, hhh is working behind the scenes, hbk has retired, rock and austin make the odd appearence here and there. I grew up through the early 90s right through the attitude era to today, the kids today have missed out big time. I love you hitman, legend.
I grew up watching Bret Hart and I complteley idolized him. I had the leather jacket and pink shades and I would always play his entrance theme, I would always be him when I would wrestle against my friends. So seeing this, especially the part about Rick Rude really hits me hard and makes me cry. Bret was my hero growing up, and he still is. I love the Hitman.
When bret says that towards the end, that makes me weep the most. They all should be here still, happy and retired, enjoying life..they should never have been taken.God bless to bret and all the guys and girls who have passed in the wrestling buisness, thank you for the memories.
I wanted to cry too when Bret mentioned Rick Rude. I mean, Rude was truly a good friend to Bret after he left the WWE following the Montreal Screwjob.
My god every time i watch this video. Especially When He Talks About Rick Rude.. It Brings Such Tears.. Bret Hart treated the bussines so good. and every wrestler should take it as a learning experience..
I was a fan back in the early 80s, when the WWF first started to go mainstream...I can't count how many live events and pay per views I witnessed down in Florida. In the early, pre-Stone Cold days, it wasn't hard to get front row seats. I saw every one of these guys live and interacted with them all. The fact that most of them are gone now...it's so surreal. I still have such vivid memories of heckling Rude, slapping hands with the Boss Man, Bulldog, Perfect...it's just so sad.
I don't know which is more sad, this incredible tribute by a truly incredible legend, or the state of of sport today? I never had the opportunity to watch a wrestling event live in my lifetime, and the way it looks now, even though I can now afford it, I probably never will. Atleast memories die hard....i will always cherish the ones I had glued in front of the t.v on the edge of my seat back in the 80's and early 90's........nothing can ever take that away.
his match with Mr Perfect at the 1991 Summer Slam was one of the best IC title match in history. I never knew Rick rude was such a great true friend to bret.
@teddyshah probably the main reason for Bret mentioning Rick Rude in this video is the fact that during the Montreal screwjob when Bret was betrayed by many workers he considered friends Rude was among the few that held his back, arranged a few things via phone and got pissed off by the WWF so much that he quit and jumped to WCW resulting in him appearing on WWF Raw and WCW Nitro on the same evening on TV (Raw was taped and Nitro was live). Rick Rude was great, i always loved to watch him.
@teddyshah Not only a great IC match but a great match in the history of the company...they did a great job and you would have never known perfect was hurt watching that match
i miss all of these guys, mr perfect, owen hart, yoko, big bossman, rick rude, all of the 90's no era going be the same, im 21 and the reason i sometimes watch wrestling is for triple H and the undertaker, its sad that what what i use to love has come to.
there will never be wrestlers like the ones from the 90's people like bret hart the undertaker hulk hogan big boss man owen hart yokozuna mr perfect lex lugar luna vachon sensation sherry bam bam bigelow earthquake ..... omg man i miss emm all im 26 and ive been watching wrestling since i was 9 the only reason i continue to watch is cause the undertaker ..... once he retires i will stop watching ....... and i hope and pray he retires at a survivor series in his original costume .... luvd the vid
@rhyno951 i was blessed and im 28 years old, they quit coming to oregon because of strict drug laws, piper lives in oregon, owen hart, rick rude, razor ramon was the only with balls to defend owen harts death to king kong bundy at the sheiks roast. cenas the ortons, the miz will not replace the pioneers, cm punk has talent and has great mic skills. its funny how hogan was part of the best worlds, hw champ in the wwe, and being leader of the nwo.
This is so sad, I cant believe that all these great wrestlers of the 90s that i grew up watching as a kid have all past away. I can only imagine how Bret is feeling that all of his closest friends are no longer around. God Bless you Bret
I feel so sorry for Bret because alot of his friends died, people he loved and shared good memories with!! It's just sad to see him cry like this because I know the pain is excruciating.. I know how it feels to lose a brother, but not all my close friends
@Lloydgo i do too, but im not that sad, owen hart is with God, remember that, the best ones are taken away from earth, your in the skies, rude, owen, yokozuna.
@Lloydgo I read in Bret Hart's book that Rick Rude was his best friend. Rick Rude was in the locker room after the Montreal screw job and made sure nothing happened to him. Eric Bishof was questioning on signing bret but Rick Rude called Eric Bishof and supported Bret, and convinced Eric Bishof to sign him. . .Great Guy
@bassy21 Yeah the story about Rude and Montreal is pretty much the truth. Vince came into Bret's locker room with his entourage (Brisco, Slaughter, Shane) and Rude who was a legitimately tough guy had Bret's back to make sure that there was no gang attack although Shane tried to attack Bret after Bret KO'd Vince but Bulldog put an end to that pretty quick.
Rude also left WWE in support of Bret after Montreal and I've always wondered if Rude's actions are the reason he's not in the HOF yet?
@Lloydgo : Rick Rude was a hero to a lot of people. Even the Ultimate Warrior has stated that he owes a lot to Rick Rude and he was the one that taught him about the business. Gone too soon, and the list keeps getting longer......... :'(
what was it rick rude did for bret? I know he left the wwf/wwe cos he was discusted by what happened to bret at the montreal screwjob...or did he do something else for bret
@r1o9n8a6n well just doing that is pretty amazing, and he was probably a good backstage friend of his. Foley quit as well but then joined back because he knew he wouldn't go back to wcw
I know that is pretty amazing thing to do, infact alot of wrestelers wanted to leave, but bret insited that they think of there families first before they rush into anything

Bret Hart and Curt Hennig are my 2 favorite wrestlers ever. i think they really are the best technical wrestlers with some of the best amateur backgrounds in the business.
niteholler 6 months ago
@niteholler Well it's basically Bret's career anthology DVD with a documentary taking you chronologically through his career. The documentary takes up 1 disc and then there are 2 others of matches from Bret's career. As with any other WWE DVD there are some great matches included but there are also some great matches missing. Personally I prefer the DVD that came out last year on Bret's entire family ("Hart & Soul") as they delve into a lot more things and it's a bit more personal.

@jldraw ok thanks. i'll look up both of them then.

does anyone know what rick rude did for him?
bredub63 7 months ago
@bredub63 Bret wrote in one of his columns that Rick Rude really stood up for him after the Montreal screwjob, phoned Eric Bischoff to explain the situation, and even quit the WWF over it.
skihippy 7 months ago
How can i describe the feeling of Bret Hart. So many emotions go thorugh my head.
But what comes to heart. Is Compassion and respect. And Rick Rude was a prime example of what that was.
The Wrestling Bussines Doesnt Have This Anymore. Its more of a finicial gain. Not the passion it was.

and now the Macho Man Randy Savage, so so sad
TheMrmoonlight 8 months ago
this video always make me cry. those guys who are gone, though they have not been aworld champions or have any great mic skills, they are much more memorable than the likes of cena, orton, the miz and most of the wwe roster today. today's generation of wrestlers can never be remembered the same way as these guys. especially hennig, bulldog, owen, rude, bossman & hawk. these guys were never the main eventers but they are always better to watch than today's roster.

Hilarious when Bret says Rude will always be a hero to him and then they cut to a clip of Rude flexing.

I never knew Rick rude was such a great true friend to bret.
teddyshah 1 year ago 3
@teddyshah There match at KOTR 1993 is even better IMO but both are classics
BSabres87 1 year ago 2
@teddyshah probably the main reason for Bret mentioning Rick Rude in this video is the fact that during the Montreal screwjob when Bret was betrayed by many workers he considered friends Rude was among the few that held his back, arranged a few things via phone and got pissed off by the WWF so much that he quit and jumped to WCW resulting in him appearing on WWF Raw and WCW Nitro on the same evening on TV (Raw was taped and Nitro was live). Rick Rude was great, i always loved to watch him.
godoftakedown 1 year ago 2
@teddyshah Not only a great IC match but a great match in the history of the company...they did a great job and you would have never known perfect was hurt watching that match

I think TAKER will leave at Mania. But you are right once he leaves I am going to stop watching..
MikeTysonEatsKids 1 year ago 2
@rhyno951 i was blessed and im 28 years old, they quit coming to oregon because of strict drug laws, piper lives in oregon, owen hart, rick rude, razor ramon was the only with balls to defend owen harts death to king kong bundy at the sheiks roast. cenas the ortons, the miz will not replace the pioneers, cm punk has talent and has great mic skills. its funny how hogan was part of the best worlds, hw champ in the wwe, and being leader of the nwo.

@Lloydgo i do too, but im not that sad, owen hart is with God, remember that, the best ones are taken away from earth, your in the skies, rude, owen, yokozuna.
omhat 9 months ago
@Lloydgo I read in Bret Hart's book that Rick Rude was his best friend. Rick Rude was in the locker room after the Montreal screw job and made sure nothing happened to him. Eric Bishof was questioning on signing bret but Rick Rude called Eric Bishof and supported Bret, and convinced Eric Bishof to sign him. . .Great Guy
bassy21 7 months ago
@bassy21 Yeah the story about Rude and Montreal is pretty much the truth. Vince came into Bret's locker room with his entourage (Brisco, Slaughter, Shane) and Rude who was a legitimately tough guy had Bret's back to make sure that there was no gang attack although Shane tried to attack Bret after Bret KO'd Vince but Bulldog put an end to that pretty quick.
Rude also left WWE in support of Bret after Montreal and I've always wondered if Rude's actions are the reason he's not in the HOF yet?
jldraw 6 months ago
@Lloydgo : Rick Rude was a hero to a lot of people. Even the Ultimate Warrior has stated that he owes a lot to Rick Rude and he was the one that taught him about the business. Gone too soon, and the list keeps getting longer......... :'(

what was it rick rude did for bret? I know he left the wwf/wwe cos he was discusted by what happened to bret at the montreal screwjob...or did he do something else for bret
r1o9n8a6n 1 year ago
@r1o9n8a6n well just doing that is pretty amazing, and he was probably a good backstage friend of his. Foley quit as well but then joined back because he knew he wouldn't go back to wcw

I know that is pretty amazing thing to do, infact alot of wrestelers wanted to leave, but bret insited that they think of there families first before they rush into anything
