LOVE YOU DADDY!!!! USAF ROCKS! my dad flew them for 19 years and they are really cool i remember when i was little that i got to sit in the cockpit and sat where my dad does it was AWSOME!!!!!!!
I miss sleeping on the ramp, waiting for a mission, then all of a sudden, "Get your shit on, and tail, get the immagery from the POC crew." "Tails in position and secure, up com; ramps level secure, tails cleared out"
I wasn't in the 20th....I was a maintainer, Comm/Nav. Miss them, regardless, as they were a big part of my life...even though they were absolute maintenance whores in every aspect! HAHAH!
is this the helicopter that one of the deciptiCONS are in transformers? it looks really similar.. my dad rode in one of these and my cousins been a pilot since he was 18 ( he's 25 now) he says hes gonna take me flying one day. God Bless the USA. (and other countries :)
well it apparently was replaced by a stronger heli, (which I don't believe) and a faster heli (I believe) but still I don't see why they can't use such a safe heli to transport troops instead of the awkward looking Chinook =)
@HoBoMoBob , from my understanding it's mission was replaced by several different aircraft, from several different branches. Including the CV-22's, What ever the 160th SOAR uses now and the HH-60 to take its secondary CSAR role.
Alright, thanks... I was just a little confused because my uncle is in the Army Rangers and he said he rode in a Pave low once, but the next month they decided to retire them... needless to say he was disappointed =)
I know all good thing's must come to an end sooner or later but the 53 was
''damn good thing'' that shoulda been kept around alot longer ! I mean come on how many choppers can brag about never officialy haveing entered some one's airspace and dropped off or picked up teams that officialy were never there ; )
hell yes! you are so right. its a shame she went into retirement. but, at least her cousin the ch-53 is still used frequently by the navy. so in a way, she still lives on! :D
My husband worked on these ladies for 20 years, Special Ops (retired air force). He was stationed at Hurlbert Field, as well as Tyndall. These birds may not be the prettiest things to look at, but they are by far one of the best the Air Force ever had. RIP MH53's. We'll miss you!
X- Engine Troop for the Mighty MH-53 Pave Low-- 31st SOS, South Korea 98-2001. I could still remember riding the 53 from Osan AB to Guam- damn smooth ride, but cold as hell.

Nice....it took me a minute to look back into these beasts....god ya hate em but ya have to love em...shame they getting tossed....2000-2006....miss those years. RIP PAVES!
I don't know if I can say where he is right now. But, he is based out of Hurlburt Field. We had the chance while our Son was training in Kirtland AFB, NM to get a tour of a V-22. Very interesting aircraft.
afsoc at hurlbert has a squadron of v-22s now. Saw one the other day, had a couple of nacelles on its nose like a pave low. Perhaps the new generation?
