I had purchased this awhile ago on amazon.com for fifty dollars. This item when working with an amplified antenna is mindblowing in terms of digital channels get a bunch of them and the quality i sware you think you were watching cable tv the picture quality is so dam good. I also have it set to record movies and tv shows thanks for the review it made my life!

@dan75robot OTA HD is uncompressed its better than Cable/Sat HD.... It blows away any Cable or Sat connection because its compressed into a format usually MPEG-4.

Maybe its just me, but the main reason i checked out youtube for a review of this card was to see the picture quality... and once again i get a miss - except for a brief snip of a show that is presumably broadcast on the card in question i can't tell if its worth getting this card or any other.

Terrible review. Why? Because you installed it and most likely only used it for a matter of hours or days before branding it the best ATI tuner card ever. Unfortunately you left out the part a few months down the road where out of the blue, upon starting up your tuner software it tells you there are no tuners available (because the card has failed). My 12 year old AIW 128 and 6 year old AIW 9000 still work perfect, while I had 2 of these die within 1 year.

Even tho the 650 is years old now. It is still the best bet on Ebay you can grab the cards (no accessories tho) for 20 bucks or so and you get that extra analog tuner if you get the PCI express X1 version.

I have a ATI TV Wonder 600 which is weaker than this model, but it's still good..

I get a lot of HD channels through cable (With a cable box) but I only get two over the air digital channels.

What about a card with dual hd tuners? I use satellite so i dont care about cable channels and I live in phoenix so we have a lot of digital channels. I would like to record one hd channel and watch a diffe3rent channel. Im using windows 7 home premium 32bit and I want it integrated into Media Center. Any ideas?

This is the TV Tuner card i'm hoping to get, gotta wait for my friend to get here so i can buy it off of him lol. i'm saying that i'm hoping to get it, because he may have that one that was shown with two coax posts but is really only one hybrid post. he says it has two posts and that its a dual tuner, soo i'm just hoping he is right because i forget what his card looked like when i first saw him installing it lol. will comment again with how much i love/hate it after a couple hours/days/weeks

I have a HP a6228x, with vista premium, AMD athlon 64 x2, 2 GB ram. After I installed the ATI tv wonder 650 external pc tuner onto my computer. It take 5 minute for my computer to turn on, and it slow down my computer a little bit too. After I installed service pack 1 and 2. The a6228x take about 3 minute to turn on. My computer seen to be faster now. And the picture quality from the ATI seem better too. My old compaq sr1330nx windows xp doesn't slow down, anyone have same problem.

I have a ATI tv wonder 650 external tv tuner. When I run setup wizard, it ask what region do you live in, usa, mexico, china, vietnam... In southeast asia, tv use PAL signal, not NTSC like in america. When I set for vietnam and do channel search, none of the channel show up. I think the ati 650 does not support PAL. Are there anyway to updates my ati tv tuner so it will accept PAL ? Can anyone shed light on this.

No you cannot attach it to a laptop. This unit uses the PCIe 1X bus, which no laptop supports. You'd need a MinIPCI, MiniPCIe, PCMCIA, or Expresscard version of this card if you'd want to use it with your laptop.

you can get the external version that he mentions about 1 minute into the video, its the same, but you cant get an internal one, unless it was preinstalled, if you were ordering a laptop from dell or somewhere like that....

I sent a msg but I don't think it worked. if you look at the video at 1:02, that is a version of this product you can use. It is the same product and would have all the same accessories etc. but sits outside your computer and attached through USB.

Question about the Tv wonder HD 650. I recently bought this product but it doesnt scan when I select digital tuner and cable. I was under the impression that this would use my analog cable and turn it into digital, but it only works with analog. What happens when everything switches over to digital in 2011, can I still use this product?

The digital tuner is for those who have a antenna for receiving ATSC channels.

Yes. Your analogue cable will still work. You will not be able to receive analogue tv signals from an antenna, only digital ATSC channels.

Say you have one cable going to the non high def input ... can you record one channel while watching another? can you you record two channels at once? These capabilities are what I think of when i hear of two tuners, but it doesn't sound like this is the case with this card.

Think of it as a cable box, however when combined with Media Centre you can download a program guide that will display channel listings similar to Express Vu, Direct TV or whomever your provider is.
