Nobuyuki Tsujii gave a tremendous performance in Manchester, England on February 11, 2011. I had the fortune of meeting him backstage. Even though he had just performed in front of 2,341 people (who gave him a rare British standing ovation), he was calm, collected, courteous and gracious. I am still in awe.
I discovered Tsuji during the Van Cliburn competition, which I followed on cliburn.tv. His playing is so natural and deep I was in awe. I'm working on the first etude too, but without Tsuji's talent. I'm lucky when I can reproduce his sound for more than a few seconds. When I feel like giving up, I go back to him. And I try one more time. Thank you Balloon0429 for sharing this.
Just imagine being in this man's shoes and having led his daunting life. Then listen to this music. Then imagine what it would have been like for him to play in front of many superb pianists like this in a competition setting. It is inconceivable. This is one of the greatest human achievements on record in the history of mankind. This young man deserves to be a household name worldwide, not for himself but for others. His message of courage is one of great importance.
@goodguysdoll : Yes, Nobu deserves to be a house hold name. To win over sighted pianists in one of the greatest competitions in the world is quite a feat in talent, courage and perseverance. When one takes into consideration his handicap and his astonishing explosion on the world scene, it could rank as one of the greatest exploits in human achievement.
@concerto35 Many people agree with your excellent comment on Nobuyuki Tsujii's remarkable accomplishment. He is still very young (age 22 at this point) and I believe we have yet to see the fruition of his full potentials. What has impressed me even more is that he continues to challenge himself - he will be performing Prokofiev's Piano Concert No. 3 in London next May, for example, to me an inconceivable feat for someone without sight.
you are better than Lang Lang, he have eyes, but play without seeing piano. You are blind, play with can"t see the piano keyboard, all songs play without seeing from practice to performance, and you are playing as well as many great pianist, even better than some of the famour pianist that I dare to comment due you are totolly not able to see. You hearing is fantastic, excellent, perfect.
I am liestening again..... Goodness... Mr. Tsujii is so good..... sorry ..... great..... Opps sorry for typo.... Judge.... He is really touching my heart....... goodness...... Now I can undrstand how the judge said he also cried...... I guess that I will liesten again,,,,,...
Congratulations.... As korean, I hope that Ms Son could win though.... Nobuyuki must have something different somehow..... wait.....One of jury said that God blessed him even though He took his sight...
@parkjoesungjun you know that sounds extremely misdirected nationalism, right? I'm Korean, but I don't care where they are from. Since when did art become something you can support someone blindly because of his/her nationality? Please grow up.

He plays well because he doesn't have fear, jealousy, and others enjoyments. He lives in his own world of music. Of course, he is also a genius.

I am thankful to have Ms. Son and Nobuyuki Tsujii. They are all great musicians.

sukesanchun 10 months ago 7
MKS0811 10 months ago 9

01cliche 1 year ago
@01cliche

I cannot imagine the walls of hardships he must have overcome to become a great pianist he is here, in this video.
