  • Many thanks to the person who uploaded this song. I have all of Richard Tauber's other songs on CD's but this one has eluded me. It was originally on a single record and all of the others on LP's.

What a joy to hear it again.

  • Exquisite, poignant, unforgettable...Richard Tauber had a unique and special way

of speaking the language of the heart! Thank you for posting and to paulostroff99

    for sharing this treasure!

  • awesome! TY for posting this awesome version of this gorgeous melody.

  • Thank God my dad introduced me to Richard Tauber at an early age! My dad passed away in 2009,and this was his favourite Tauber song, and so,reminds me of dad.Try also to listen to his song:Girls were made to love and kiss,my favourite........

  • At 1.24/1.25 and on the repeat we can hear Tauber's impeccable phrasing.

There really was no-one like him!

  • I first heard this about 12 yrs old on an old wind-up gramaphone and I still love his version best. I think even chopin might have applauded.. Certainly many who would never know the original music can share it this way.Thank you for making it available.

  • phenomenal

  • Does any kind person have this on mp3? I cannot find where to buy the CD with this track on it, so an mp3 would be absolutely brilliant. :) I would be so appreciative.

    Richard Tauber..love this singer, Wow!!!

a real head-shaker, such perfection....(F*&K!)..edge-of the chair singer(for the listener)..

  • Divina ilusion que yo forje un sueno fue que no se realizo siento que mi alma se desgarra pues le fantan las caricias de tu amor Una cancion que me llena de nostalgia y ternura

  • well, what can be said about this extraordinary combination, the excellent tenor Richard Tauber and one of the top 10 more beautful melodies ever written, Chopin's tristesse: the other 9: serenade and ave maria by schubert(I recommend Tauber rendition of this fem), largo XERXES and pax alla siciliana from the royal fireworks music by Haendel, Mendelssohn´s 2nd movement of his violin concerto, Dvorak largo from his new world symphony, mexican la golondrina and silient night, adeste fideles.

  • I believe that the vocal arrangement is by Pauline Viardot-García.

  • Excellent version, Chopin must have been very pleased as I am to listen to this great voice. Thank you so much.

  • Richard Tauber's version of 'Tristesse' is so beautiful that I can't stop playing it.

  • It was one of his best-selling English records, and we can hear why!

Recorded: Abbey Road on 29 March 1940.

  • Lo mas hermoso que le he escuchadoa Tauber... Espléndido!

  • the best

  • Splendido.
