the acting is hammy... and some of the choices in facial expression and movement are odd and off-putting. BUT, I love the singing. Wish there was more dynamic difference at the end though.
Did anyone catch the transaction between Papageno and the second or third lady, not sure which one she is, but she's on the left when they gave Tamino the flute? He seemed a bit jelous and she shook the key at him! :) Around 2:04
Though I prefer, for absolutely no reason the Met's new version, I find this to be a perfectly delightful version. It's very classy. Just don't like Tamino.
I love Tamino's exotic costume! Opera costumes should always be like that!!!
