  • If Juan Almendárez is your source let me tell you something about him. He manages a Non government organization for human rights, and in 2003 on a prison fire accident that resulted in many deaths, this man Almendárez gathered lots of funds by HUMAN RIGHTS and gave only 10% or less to the families of the people who died. He acts like a socialist but enjoys the great life of a capitalist!

  • ZELAYA IS A BOOS MICHELETI IS TRASH

  • Zelaya is socialist trash. Micheletti only upheld the law.

  • Amy Goodman does an outstanding job discussing important matters at hand. Thank you Amy and please keep up the good work, people need to know what the average media outlets will never tell them.

    Democracy Now indeed!

  • Zelaya violated the Honduran Constitution. The Supreme Court ruled Zelaya had to be removed from office. The Army had to carry out the order. The same thing could happen here in the US if the Supreme Court rules Obama does not meet the Constitutional requirement to be president. The Army will have to remove Obama from the office. This is democracy in action in Honduras and it may happen here.

  • And Democracy Now is the liberal left wing media who supports Chavez, Castro and Zelaya. This front is a Socialist Media Propaganda ...

  • Democracy now is a leftist organization and thats why they are putting this version of the events.

  • Zelaya is the Hugo Chavez of Honduras..a dictator..

  • Zelaya, a dictator? How's that? If the people of Honduras wants him to succeed as a president for another term, then let the people of Honduras decide. A military coup is not the answer.

  • The U.S CIA&Centrail intellegance agency has been behind coups for hunderds of years.zelaya was elected legitimately.this is like venezuela all over again. (o and democracy now is where its at)

  • for Fighting89Back, no every democratic country has the same constitution, in Honduras constitution when you break the law that zelaya broke, you are automatic discharge from office, under Honduras constitution he commited high treason by trying to change part of the constitution that is protected, but before this he broke several laws

he was giving Honduras to chavez,

Honduras is fighting for LIBERTY, in what side do you want to be?

  • You forgot to mention that the Honduran constitution is from 1982 as a last input from the military junta.

This is a constitution that forbids people to hold a referendum, the most democratic means of them all...

  • The rich in Honduras want everything for themselves. The poor like Zelaya. The few rich and the middle class don't like him. The middle class want to be like the Americans.

  • hahaha poor zelaya?!?!

he is exactly from that "conservative elite" that he demonizes in his attempt to stimulate class hatred. He is from one of the richest families in Honduras.

  • OBAMA HAS NO SAY IN WHAT HAPPENS IN MY COUNTRY!

Zelaya is nothing but a puppet for that Socialist Hugo Chavez, we dont want Honduras to be another Venezuela.

hugo has given honduras government $3million as "aid" ...you know what he is doing, buying our government.

Zelaya, you were too slow...and your ass got KICKED OUT!

  • Chavez buying your government??HAHAHAHA, please. You have three major exporting bananas companies that export over 80% of Honduras crop....that's right, USA. Of course you have the right wing wealhy families that supports the coup for their own interest. Wake up!

  • You don't even know the whole story, my friend. Zelaya asked Chavez to make ballots for him. He can't call for a Referendum unless Congress approves it. He defied Congress and proceeded to buy ballots from Hugo Chavez. He wanted to rule forever without term limits like what Chavez did. Then he ordered the General to send ballots/boxes to the precincts but the Gen. did not do it because it was unlawful and Zelaya fired him. The Congress then told the military to cease any activity.

  • Then Zelaya directed his supporters to conduct the referendum..The Attorney General said it was unlawful and fired the Attorney General. So the COngress told the military to arrest Zelaya and exiled him. Many of Zelaya's drones and Chavez's propaganda movement are helping him... It was not a Coup...the military is preserving the Constitutional Law and Zelaya was a power hungry moron like Hugo Chavez.

  • Article 4 says any infraction against the ban on re-election constitutes treason. In other words, if Zeleya was going for a re-election. Then the people of Honduras decide and vote for on it

  • There is a term limit and Zelaya wants to extend his term which is against the constitution. If the constitution limits his term, only the Congress can amend the constitution to extend term limits. But he defied Congress so that why he needs to be stopped. There is so many dictators in South America...and Zelaya is one of these morons.

  • Dictators?? Don't talk to me dictators!!LETS TALK ABOUT RUTHLESS KILLER DICTATORS, LIKE PINOCHET, SOMOZA, TRUJILLO, PERON, BATISTA...ETC...ALL SUPPORTED BY CIA and morons like your self. They have massacared any with any idealogy of social reform. You might read up a little about past history

  • I didn't support any dictator, what is your proof of these allegations except from the liberal media? Zelaya needs to be hanged for treason against the Honduran people.

  • Proof?, Its an historical FACT. You might want to read up on that. With regards of Zeleya needs to be hanged. I believe no one needs to hanged or killed. There should be a trial and let the people of Hondura decide, ALL OF THEM, not just a couple of fascist pigs

  • Pinochet was necessary so that we didn't have Allende set up a communist state in our own backyard.

  • "They have massacared any with any idealogy of social reform."

    Translation: He killed communist terrorists.

  • Zelaya asked Chavez to make ballots for him???! WTF? where do you get you resources from, "Clowns R US"? First of all, note tthe Honduran Constitution, written under the military government of U.S. stooge Policarpo Paz García in the early 1980s, is draconian on this subject of re-election and holding individuals to a single presidency.

  • Ariticle 3 of this wacky constitution: No one owes allegiance to an usurping government nor those who assume public office via force of arms or utilizing means and procedures that violate or circumvent what is in the Constitution and established by law. The acts taken by such authorities are null. The people have the right to recur to insurrection in order to defend the constitutional order.

  • Yeah so? Those bananas belong to the Chiquita corporation. And it's a good thing to, because they sell them as very affordable prices at the supermarket -and that is their right to do so. Is there some kind of a problem?

  • @JohananRaatz

No justifica unas consecuencias?

  • "No one outside this country has been checking the facts and have blasted not only the decision of the congress and the supreme court but have sided with someone who ran rough shod over the constitution. He convicted himself by his actions. While unfortunate he was run off to another country, the country has been a peace within because of the decision made by the Military. His return will cause untold problems." - Tripletango, La Ceiba

  • How is it a coup, when the constitution explicitly has term limits which he was attempting to violate? And even if it was, does that mean the USA should go try to fix some supposed problem? The USA has been responsible for the worst atrocities in Latin American politics, so no matter what it should stay in its own business.

  • The problem is that economic interests of this exist back.

  • You apparently don't understand English. The supreme court didn't impeach him. They ordered a coup d'etat. The article's title is " Honduras supreme court 'ordered army coup' " No where in the article did it state that the congress voted to impeach the president.

One of your major problems is your immense stupidity. You're functionally retarded.

  • The reality is that most 90% reject Zelaya a corrupt president who has violated the moral principles and our Constitution.

By asking world to respect our decisions, in Honduras there have been no coup, which was a transition there was a constitutional president.

Not interfere with the affairs of Honduras

  • Who says only 90% of Hondurans support president Zelaya? did you pull the numbers out of your ass? or maybe its the Mitofsky opinion poll conducted in June 2009? let me remind you that the majority of Hondurans are poor rural and shanty towns dwellers and they dont have such "luxury" like you do such as access to TV, mail, Internet etc. If you ask among the tiny middle and upper class of course you will get those poll figures. That does not reflects the truth.

  • Dude, that's what you have in vision because that's what you goberment said to you. My first pair of shoes when I was 7 years old, my first watch when I was 14, my first bike when I was 16 and graduate as teacher, my first car when I move to US with residence and I got my first job, my first computer when I became a contractor. You don't know shit about Honduras, I DO

  • you would be surprised how many poor hondurans afford a tv and stereo system :)

  • You're too stupid to understand the difference between "democratically elected president" and "dictator."

    Perhaps with repition you'll understand.

He wasn't impeached by the supreme court.

  • fighting89back,

you really should study some more about this, because odviously you have a socialist mind set and deny it, accept it and fight for your believe.

According to certain articles in our constitution, he is NOT to propose or even suggest such ideas- like that referendum (ballot question, or plebiscite) during your term as president and 6 months prior to elections.

    he violated a law!

  • Impeachment is how you removed an elected offical, not a military ordered kidnapping.

You don't know what "dictator" means. There is a difference betweening "acting like a dictator" and being a dictator.

You're stupidity knows no limits. You're so stupid and ignorant. You must have failed out of school.

  • To understand that Zelaya was trying to change the rules of elections in Honduras, so that he could be president longer than he is allowed, is to understand them ousting him. They did not want to be like other countries where it becomes impossible to truly elect a president. Let this ride until it is time for the elections and let Honduras elect their president. Zelaya is not allowed to run anymore, he is finished any way. Leave him where he is until after the elections. One-

  • False. I am a Honduran civilian and I support the new government. Zelaya has attempted to become a dictator like Chavez by changing the constitution. The supreme court ordered the army based on the law to take Zelaya out. Now there's a civilian as president from the same party. WE DON'T WANT ZELAYA BACK! I'm from Honduras. We ask for support. WE HATE COMMUNISM.

  • the ELITE don't want Zelaya. The RICH don't want Zelaya and your brainwashed belief that this is communism, when a president wants to even the playing field for so many of honduras poor, is ridiculous.

  • An elected president is NOT a dictator. Dictators are NOT elected. This is regardless of how many times the person gets re-elected. In Chicago, Mayor Daley gets re-elected all the time. Is he automatically a dictator?

  • Hitler was elected, as was Chavez.

  • @JohananRaatz jajaja Hitler wasn't elected, i live in Honduras and i'm not socialist, but i don't like that persons die for the army and for american's help

  • @nasd555norman Well he was actually if you look at the history of the Weimar republic.

"but i don't like that persons die for the army and for american's help"

Well from what I understand no one died here. The president was just arrested for violating Article 239 and flown out of the country.

  • @nasd555norman Actually Hitler WAS elected. Do some research.

  • Chavez IS NOT a dictator, neither is he a communist. So, your argument doesn't make any freaking sense.
