i remember when i was 15, the only songs i knew from depeche mode where enjoy the silence and never let me down again, now thanks to youtube, i got to see so much better songs from depeche. '81 - '89 their best songs, they were really THE 80s band, an icon
britain..the only country they don't get enough recognition from and it's where their from!!!!!!!!.....class band followed them from the start...on this tour i remember they had screens behind them that were painted and when you shone different colour lights on them the pictures on them changed...so inivative just like the band....class!!....
Had to post...again. I just attended the Party For The Masses In Hamburg last weekend. Obviously a devoted DM Fan. But this song - still my favorite. Ever.
A lot people get on Depeche Mode's case that they're not actually playing their instruments. I'm just saying that 3:07 is proof that they are playing for real and in real time.
Didn't you hear that Alan accidentally hit an additional note? So this proves that the were and still are playing live. Of course there is some backing tape but listen to the backing tapes of World Violation Tour (here @ YouTube). Then you hear what was from tape and you can imagine what was played live.
the best DM ever I really hope they can do what the Cure did with Trology concert where they played 3 albums ine one night (Pornography, Desintegration, Bloodflowers). DM can play A broken frame, black celebration, and a mixed setlist of their other aearly lbums...
A brilliant song. The bit off the studio version i like best is when that wicked liitle melody fades in just as the song is fading out. Am i alone in this? Oberkorn & The Great Outdoors are also great tunes, here's where you start to hear alans presence in the studio.
Love it too Jack!! I actually know a Depesche Mode song called "People are People". I've always heard that one on the radio, but I never knew it was them!
Oh, Dave is such a cute babyface! Such a long time ago! It makes me squeak, lol. I still got a poster of them from that time. It 's from my first concert ever! Good lord!
this song is the art of true players...it is classic in lyric art of poetry and TRUE music of the art of the heart of and mind...which most music lacks now-a-days! It is over 20 years old..but it still has that classis sense that will last the rest!
Why do the other band members seem to give DG the DIRTIEST looks. Am I nuts?
Look 2:53-2:56, who is that? Alan? Because if I remember, during other performances, he gives some nasty looks to DG later on performances, too. Has anyone ever noticed this? At first view, I thought there was one a 3:20, but I don't think so.
I don't think Alan's looking at Dave at 2:53. Alan is at the far left end of the stage, and when he gives what does look like a dirty look he's looking in front of him, while Dave is in the middle of the stage, so I think he was just looking at the audience... and I don't think he meant it as a dirty look to them. :) Actually that look isn't that unusual on him... I think he was just being his "cool, serious" self, no harm intended. ;)
i was here this night - loads of DM fans slag off A broken Frame but this is just such an amazing song - along with shouldnt have done that - i wish i could relive this night - cant wait til the 2009 tour
Probably one of Alan's first documented live performance's with the band. This song was done by just the three after Vince left. Alan joined in after this album was done...Listen to poor Martin hit a wrong key at 3:09...classic..he was still getting down the singing and playing part...Great Video thanx for posting!!
Hey sbenedict1. I'm fully aware that Mr. Wilder did not contribute to this song or any of the songs on A Broken Frame. My comment about Alan was a generalized statement related to his tenure in the band.
