  • Challenge of the day: try getting a datasheet from Broadcom or even find evidence that such a thing actually exists.

  • A pity you saved your most useful rant for last. It is indeed incredibly annoying to have to signup for sites for datasheets or to have to talk to sales reps to get the "full datasheet" because the one they provide do not even have the basic IC pinout. Thanks for the rant, there entertaining. Keep em coming haha

  • It's normal with big companies - they so like meetings and other waste of time things - I still remember when I found readout bug in ST MCU's and mail with them about it and possible future solutions to solve this, they first what they want was to meet with them and no simple meeting actually they want me to flight into France waste at least 2-5 days only me to say exactly same what I wrote on e-mail - and this was even not for they money but for my money - Maybe is a time to publish this bug :)

  • The suppliers actually drop by your house? Man they are worse over in Australia than over here in the USA.

  • Oh! That's right! Found even price list for cv's here in Germany. They not even have a job. They simply sale cv's to bigger headhunter company. Can be from 100 to 200 dollars worth -). And bigger headhunter like have no need in personal to search workers and can say that their database of workers is more than 500000 -). "Dead Souls" by Gogol.

  • I don't think you need to worry about anymore Consultancy calls after that performance. I'm sure you are a very talented and successful designer, but god forbid if a day ever comes when you need that little bit of extra help in the job market. Let's hope a few of those bridges do remain in tact.

  • @holdersm33 You don't have to be friends with recruitment consultants. They can hate your guts and they'll still get you the job because they need the commission. Remember, they called me asking to do THEIR job for them, those people don't deserve to be in the business. There are some decent recruitment consultants around.

  • chances are you sent them your CV tool

  • Recruitment agents are evil. They usually ring me up when I'm job hunting and just keep me talking long enough to ask me where I've already applied so that they can then send CVs to all those companies. I never tell them even when they get arsey with me and then they hang up. They waste my time and theirs.

  • @zenenmoro In case you missed it, I run a video SHOW where I entertain people. It's your pointless comment that is pure proof that someone has no life, and that someone ain't me. I create content for the enjoyment of people, you spend your life anonymously bitching about it.

  • @zenenmoro Dear moron, If you pay attention to the video he says he gets the same kind of phone calls on a regular basis.

  • That's right, Dave, let out the anger! :-) It's theraputic, and good for the soul! Haha! I can see where you're coming from though - LEAVE ME ALONE, PHONE!

  • I agree. I can't stand recruitment companies. They just want to use everyone in THEIR business deal. Many don't even care to meet you, they just want a business deal done and use someone in the process. BUT what is even worse is if something goes wrong they never hesitate to dump you and side with the client. If anyone seriously needs money it is a way to go, but just know what you are getting into

  • @wolfwisey And you are just another anonymous bad grammar Youtube douche that produces ZERO content and just likes to bitch about others who actually produce content.

  • I feel much better now! Thank you for ranting on my behalf.

  • @goldenrebel1st You're welcome!

  • Yes Im going to have to uh disagree with you there, professional design engineers welcome calls and visits from vendors and component sales groups, thats the way its been since the 1950s; Proof is the large conferences that used to take place where suppliers show their products and meet with design engineers and ask them what they are working on and if they need anything.

Anyone hostile to being a team player or chasing away contacts tends to not stay on a team very long

  • I am not able to get that upset on all this stuff, like you do. But it seems to be only way to make the facts clear to that stupid folk. Thank you for that.

  • u look like a psycho brotha!

  • Totally agree about the datasheets...

  • ha ha, great rant... totally agree about how the calling rant and farming user contact info.... ha ha, bugger off... what does that mean? where does that saying come from? is it like stop bugging me?

  • @averagemale2000 It's a more polite Australian way to say piss off! I don't know it's exact origins...

  • @EEVblog I'd hardly say it is more polite, bugger off I thought comes from the idea of buggery, which I'm sure you could look up... ;)

  • LOVE IT! TOTALLY AGREE!! Next time they call, go see them in person and charge them a fee for your advice. Personally, I loathe, hate, despise all these headhunters and temp-agencies. They're runned by monkeys and they look for monkeys to hire. Anyone with more than half-a-brain and an education scares the crap out of them. They're as worst as pimps. No wait, that's an insult to pimps.

  • Dave I can relate to that 100%. Recruiters suck. I used to work as an engineering recruiter and its exactly the shit I had to do. I hated it. Endless cold calls to companies, endless calls to candidates. You have to learn how to enjoy licking people's arse with the tip of your tongue in this industry and boy am I'm glad I quit this shit.

  • Thats some funny shit..... I Never for a minute thought you where having a bad day.... But You anoy the hell out of me by ingoringing my fucking question anout leds lights, solar panel, And a circet to match.... Ok I Understand I Am not very smart when it comes to this stuff but I Do want info..... Yea You Mr Helpful... You Mister EEVB'er... U could atleast point me in a direction of an on line forum for other nit whits lke my self to get simple info...

  • What annoys me are follow up phone calls from sampling components. Here I am, trying to design some complicated shit, and these bastards have the nerve to interrupt my train of thought, just out of the blue, every few days or so, with a salesman asking "how's it going?" and throwing a bloody sales pitch. It's damned annoying! Bugger off!! I'm leery of sampling/using TI and Lattice parts as a result. Microchip never calls me to throw a stupid sales pitch, I love them. Fairchild is good too.

  • I love your shirt

  • you sound like peter griffin in what really grinds my gears.... ;)

  • Hear hear!

  • I now understand that my approach is normal after watching you

  • fun stuff mate, let'em have it!

  • I know someone who answers sales calls and anything without a caller ID with the phrase "What is your authorisation code?"

  • jajajajajajajaja...

    good plan...

    :)

  • nice one Dave, i with you on the Data sheets all i want are the specs of the componants not a 3 week sales pitch with you knowing all my details, great blog mate but the worse by far is retailers saying to ant question is "HAVE YOU LOOKED ON THE INTERNET" and mate im only a garden shed inventer.

  • hahahaha great vid, they get better and better, love them sooooo much

  • I know exactly how you feel about registering for datasheets! I'm building a project on an Altera 3C120 FPGA board, and it has a Marvell GigE PHY. Marvell makes you sign a FREAKING NDA to get the datasheet!

What could possibly be so secret about the part?! Luckily I've been able to piece together enough info from Google to get it working. I would never in a million years consider buying anything from Marvell.

  • I've used the same Marvell GigE chip before and was hit with the same NDA rubbish! A sympathetic dealer let us have the datasheet on the sly...

  • 6:01 Dave turns green and rips his shirt

  • hahaha

  • hahaha those stupid phone calls

Here in Mexico there's a law that avoids "phone spamming". You just have to register your phone number if you want to avoid these people from calling you.

If they do, their phone call is logged and they have to pay a fine. :D

    Nice blog Dave :D

  • we have that here in america too, but I'm not sure how they enforce it... I'm on the list and I've gotten several calls.

I just chew their goddamned ear off and make them never want to speak to me again.

  • We have the same thing in Australia, called the do not call register. But it's only for telemarketers, so consultants and suppliers you've delt with in the past are probably exempt. A friend just gives the phone to his 3yo!

  • Well, maybe one day we will have to have a phone line for friends and relatives and another phone line for spam...

    just like with emails XD

  • Put them on hold for an hour :D
