@elliotfmx The HYM 1100 (which I own one, a 2009 model), is the right engine for this bike. Not for a "REAL" motard, beware, but for the Hypermotard, specifically. It has torque, lots of it, which are sort of gone with the 800cc engine.
Imagine a naked bike. Done? Now imagine it being at least 10 times funnier to drive. That's the HYM 1100. The 796 is the entry level in the HYM family, and well, you can feel it. Weaker suspension, weaker engine, cheaper components...
@elliotfmx I really wouldn't classify the hypermotard as a real supermoto is why. In my mind a supermoto is more dirt bike that street bike and it performs well in the dirt, but the ducati is a street bike with supermoto styling (upright riding position mostly). Like I said fun as hell but I don't go off-roading like i would on a 450 with it. For what the ducati is and what makes it fun the 1100 is the way to go. I also agree with Gixxer's comments.
"Were gonna speed test them, performance test them, get them round a track, go commuting, go touring, around town, every possibility. At the end of the day, we'll find out which has got the right engine in the right chassis"
And you gonna do ALL that, in 1:18 are ya?.. The quality of MCN's videos is highly fluctuating.. :P
@chrisjoneschrisjones the red one... is the DB6, the other red one is the hypermotard and, the last red one is the multistrada!! got it? just kidding it was confusing for me too i had to watch it a little closer to figure it out.
I own a hypermotard, and I am definitely not sick of it yet, I'd like the multistrada if I was touring a bit more (and if the fairing looked attractive) but the hyper is certainly an adventure every time you get on it. awesome bikes!
@Brazilianjj I have an 1100S, and on the highway it gets pretty windy, if you are going to do a lot of highway riding it's certainly not the bike to be doing it on. no wind protection (little windshield helps a bit though), but most of all it's considerably light and is easy thrown around. But if you live around some twisty back roads and like an overpowered bike...look no further.
I will get u ricckky boooby

I own a Hypermotard 1100 (2009). Funnest bike ever. The only negatives I would say are:
1. Don't even think about the 800 version, it defeats the purpose and personally I disliked the slipper clutch.
2. No wind protection.
3. Mirrors shake always and a lot (you can tell something is back there at least).
4. Lots of short shifting (the use-able RPM range is small but incredibly torquey).
5. Far too easy to get into trouble (wheelies, sidewalks, stairs, etc...)

@PFTome Why does an 800 defeat the purpose, normal supermotos are 450's so why would 1100 be better?

concordo pienamente. anche io possessore di hyper e tranne per il prezzo è fantastica sempre. molto più agile e scattante della multistrada.
