All he said was fair enough. But the fact is he can only blame himself for his situation. I highly doubt, based on experience, that his homelessness is not a direct result of a substance abuse problem. With effort he could reverse his situation easily. Blaming a hip problem is a victim mentality mechanism.
i have no interest in meeting this man downtown. ask any new havener that spent a lot of time in the audubon st area and they will have the same fond memories i have as well. he wore a gigantic metallic tommy hilfiger parka in the wintertime. you shouldn't trust him
you know what? this lady knows nothing. met him 10 minutes ago? i met him 7 years ago. i spent hours outside of koffee an ECA on audubon, where this lady is, and i spent many hours chatting up this asshole and listening to his plights. and then he stole 20 dollars from me. such a noble, former working man my ass. trash
I see William often since making this video. People will stop their cars on the side of the road to ask him if he's OK. I believe what others have said above about his kind and gentle nature. I saw him this morning and mentioned your comment. He has only been on the streets in New Haven for three years (mentions in video). He was not living in New Haven at all seven years ago, so you must be confusing him with someone else. He asked that you visit him downtown if you'd like to verify this.
You have no idea what this man is going through right now. He is a very gracious man. I highly doubt he, "stole," 20 dollars from you. And guess what? He needs it more than you. He was a very hard working man, and is trying to get back up on his feet to work again. He tries to give back when we give, and you should think of him as a superior. And you can learn from him. I see him pretty much every other day. I pray for him and he prays for me. God bless him.
This is a very spirit filled beautiful man` his attitude is so positive living in such uncertaincy and homelessness. May he aquire that hip replacement and begin a new life again.
Thank you so much for watching. Things may be looking up for William - everyone's wishes and prayers are having a positive impact on his situation. : )
I'm a fairly new resident of New Haven. William is one of the first people I met in the city. I look forward to seeing him in the Audubon/Orange area. He's a kind and gentle man. Hopefully he can find a place to recuperate from his much needed surgery, so he can get back onto two healthy legs, and start achieving some of his goals!
Thank you William for helping my friends and I out last night get to our car!!! We really appreciate your help. Hopefully you get the help you need

Linda, thanks so much for this. I saw Willie yesterday and he was very excited about getting the video out there and grateful to you for making it.
New Haveners, stop and say hi next time you're on Audubon street! Willie's one of the kindest, most positive, and most generous folks around.

Hi Laura,
You're welcome. He was a pleasure to talk to and I know he was excited when I saw him the other day. Glad he has a friend like you, too.
Cheers,
Linda
