This amp has too many knobs and options and what not for my liking. I demoed one once, and couldn't figure the damn thing out! However, I do like your tone and what you're playing buddy. Ever played, or heard of the Egnater TOL 100? That's kinda in the same vein, as far as options what with MIDI switching, 4 channels, effects loop and what not, but much easier to tweak in my opinion. Look out for them if you can find one!!!
@crate718 I play metal with a vintage Marshall and it sounds awesome. Sorry buddy, you're wrong. On top of that, if you can only use this to play metal, what's the point of the different channels of this amp? I know for shit sure they all sound at least somewhat different. And gay would be the wrong word to use anyway, the amp isn't a homosexual, you just don't like what the guy is playing.
@chuckelator lol when I say gay it isnt homo stuff, just means I dont like it, I love jvm alot, you can make a strat with single coils sound like metal monster. Marshall stoped making the jmv, they are on clearance almost 45% off, this year marshall is coming out with mini marshalls of jcm200, jvm and different mini plexi's only for this year
Nice Demo. I've got the 50 watt version of this amp, after hearing this I am considering some other speakers. I am using the G75-T speakers now, but they are a little bit lifeless at low volume: little sparkle and high frequencies...
one of the best players ive heard in ages. Please can you tell me what the best amp for tone at reasonable price and volume levels, say in the region of £300 (about $500-$600) i already have a fender strat but dont get the best out of it cos im still usin my orange 15w practise amp and a zoom effects pedal. And in your opinion do you need good instrument cables? id appreciate your advice as you are clearly a very good player thanks
@chrisharvey9 Thank you very much. Cables don't make that much difference. The amp is where it's at. The Fender Pro Junior is a great sounding little amp. Check mackamps.com as well. Many people dig the Jet City amps (inexpensive). Bugera V22 is getting great reviews too and it's not expensive either. Hope that helps!
@chrisharvey9 Now if you're looking for a nice tube head I would say go for a Peavey Vypyr 120W. I don't know if modeling amps are really your thing but the sound that comes out of those are amazing. Not to mention the intense versatility they offer. Can't beat it with a stick for $550 :D
@chrisharvey9 Also - check the Blackheart and Blackstar amps. I got a Blackstar HT-20, and it is superb. There is a HT-5 that might be more in that price range too, if the 20W is too expensive. The Blackhearts seem to be good clean/crunch single channel amps that take pedals well.
@chrisharvey9 Try out some Egnater amps at Guitar center and then look for the models used online. One of the best for the cost by far. I have this amp he is playing in the video and a couple others like AC15 handwired, Dr. Z Route 66. If you like fender amps, it really depends on how loud and what kind of music you like to play. Blues Jr. is a great fender amp for blues, but if you want to cover NIN songs you better get a closed back cabinet, and some pedals. Had a Marshall DSL, look 4 that too
I hate the OD channels on this amp, but i've played a lot of marshall amps and the clean RED makes this one of the best and most versatile! Great sound and moderately loud volume, GREAT with pedals, analogman fuzz, octavia, Tubescreamer, old proco rat. If you like that one plexi style sound, you need to get the plexi because this won't do it justice, but then you don't have the essential master volumes and versatility in sounds. This is a dynamic amp for sure
Rotren please do me a favour please please please, find an acdc shoot to thrill backing track online, and record with it playing the full song on this guitar and i will subscribe :) even tho i have already lol
heya man, im ordering one of these soon. Can you tell me if yours is in a satin black finish(not shiny) or a gloss finish(shiny lol) because i cant tell by the video. Cheers
@djluis49 I used to have one of these. I also owned a Gibson LP Standard 08. They're both great guitars. The MK is a little darker sounding though, and it's got a thinnner neck. But it's an absolutely killer guitar and a steal if you can't afford a Gibson. Before you buy an Epiphone, try one of these. The only reason I sold mine was to buy a Blackstar amp.
@DisasterBlaster500 Thanks for your reply, i already got the guitar, its a keeper, im enjoying it so far. I love the sound. Its dark and mellow, it fits my style perfectly!

very tastefull playing through a great sounding amp! You punk kids, player wanna be's that keep bashing Marshalls, do the guitar playing community a favor & commit suicide !
haha, i think its kinda funny what this syxxsyxxsyxx is talkin. he says marshall has only these pentatonic losers in their crew, but he listens to metallica himself (hammett...nothing but WAH and PENTATONIC). also he likes mesa and says marshall sound like weak shit. yeah sure it sounds bad if you like the muddiness and too much bass, what these mesa rectos etc. produce. mustaine plays marshall, hetfield plays (played, idk) mesa. and ive always preferred mustaines sound hell of a lot more. :)
If you really want good tone just buy a Blackstar Series One- 100watt or 200watt their way more satisfying then the marshall's that have come out of late.
a tip for anyone looking at buying this amp, do yourself a favour and pair it with Orange speaker cabs
I have mine plugged in to an Orange PPC212 2x12 cab and it kind of rounds off the sound of the amp to just the perfect tone, hands down the best sounding combination that I've played through (30 years of playing),
I can get everything from creamy blues, Thin lizzy style, 80s metal, 90's metal, rich glassy U2 tones and modern scooped mid sounds from this monster,
hey KingOfTone ! I haven´t really liked the sound of humbuckers clean that much for other styles than jazz, but you get a really nice tone with the marshall, both clean , overdriven and distorted. I actually think this guitar sounds better to the marshall´s caracter.. and robert when comes a demo of this guitar together with the heatseeker ? haha I bet you´ll get some nice break-up going on with this hot pickups .. some plexi tones ? Great demo and awsome playing!

Not you again! Get a life and stop using the Rotren's videos as a jerk audition tool. Wasting my time with your tiresome whining. Won't anyone just let me enjoy the video!?
hey kleinster99, your an idiot arguing about something that doesn't make any sense. you say not you again!, as in you found this video by accident. I'm gonna go ahead and guess you purposely found this to try and make fun of something more talented than you; kinda funny, but mostly pathetic. why don't you take your stupid criticism to a different channel and stop being a stupid dick.
i played it at gc and it does work for metal, you just need a THD hotplate with the gained turn up. I just got one used and it sounds good to me. But i noticed not many people play metal with it.
JVM is just the evolution of JCM i think... so these amps since JCM are very good for everything, from rock n roll, to metal! is just pure tube tone, that has been used since 1950, jimmy page speaks only by hearing led zepelin albums.
WRONG!!! Rob Flynn has used Peavey 5150s since his days in Vio-lence and he's been using them through out every Machine Head album and Live Show. Marshall's sound WEAK compared to amplifiers like Boogie and Bogner. And before you say i don't know anything, I've owned more amps than you probably have and have always sold my Marshall's cos they can't compare to my Bogner Ecstasy
Keep thinking until you hear it i guess. However, don't start saying so and so uses Marshall because you like them. Marshall don't have the endorsers that most amp companies (Bogner, Mesa, Randall etc) have!!!
Marshall have Zakk Wylde, Slash and Kerry King for well most known players. Nothing impressive, just guys who can't play anything other than pentatonic.
Listen here you teenage piece of shit. You can't accept the fact you tried to pass off a Marshall by trying to JUSTIFY it cos someone uses it. So before you say fuck the players, think about what you said.
marshall has killer players like wild, mustaine, aldrich, campbell and heafy!!!
i just wanted to say that i have my own opinion...between i'm not a teenage piece of shit man..i am 16 and playing guitars for 9 years!!!this amp rules and i don't give a fuck you think about it
No what i'm saying is that people hardly use Marshalls now. I'm 23 and have been playing for 14 years, so whats your point?
The AMP sucks!!! You will only know it when a REAL amp over shadows the JVMs tone and the funny thing about it is, is that pretty much every amp out there today can over shadow a Marshall.
ok so let me say if you don't accept my opinion and think the amp sucks than don't watch this video and don't fuck my nerves...so don't waste your time
I agree with you for the most part. Their is a lot a badass amp manufactures out there. I can think of quite a few that beat the piss out of Marshall amps. Marshall isn't what it used to be, they used to have much more quality stuff.
Does it have to be a head or would a combo work? What's your budget the JVM is like $2200 (I think). What kind of music do you play and will pedals be put through.
@lmihay umm...i have a wah pedal...LOL, lol i play basicly stuff like led zeppelin, metallica, steve vai, hendrix, u know...i just kinda need a rock tone, metal tone, good clean tone, and yea am pretty sure this amp has all that, i dont play like friken death metal or somthn like that so yea...and i would PROBAAAABLY buy it used so...yea, and some dude got it online for like $1300 and yea well i would prefer a head with a cab
@tcherassi1 uNLESS U HAVE PLACID NEIGHBOURS AND CAN AFFORD ear splitting sound don't go for stacks in a room. I play a 30 watts combo for practice in an average sized room and I have to turn the volume less than half for clean.
Hahahahaha, yup, fuck all people use marshalls alright, Alexi Laiho, Iron Fucking Maiden, Zakk, Bjorn Gellotte (in flames), KK, Matt Heafy, Roope Latvala (occasionally), Hanneman... should i go on?
Yeah they might all use Marshalls but how many heads do these guys need to be heard??? I bought this Marshall to check it out for a gig i had at the Scala (same stage as Alice In Chains) and the lead singers 5150 pissed all over it with his volume being on 3. My volume on the JVM was at 7 and it still sounded weak. Want the proof? watch the vid of us at the gig
@syxxsyxxsyxx I see your point man, but to be fair that doesnt make it a bad amp, it could be many things, maybe the soundguy did a crap job on levelling the guitars, maybe your settings are shit, not saying they are but its possible, and also its cus you have 2 guitarists, its always hard to match up amps, cus they have different tonal spectrums etc one may always be "bigger" than the other, just gotta experiment to find an amp that you like but levels out with the other players!
@MaiDeNrock11 lol, they use marshalls kus they really are fucking awsome for all styles of music, unless u play heavy metal and want a mesa boogie or somthn
even though that makes no sense because over 90% of what you play on a guitar is a scale, people like the pentatonic scale because its a good building block to build your songs.
You cant see his head because its a pain for Robert to camouflage the little horns on his head for every video. (how the %##&*% else can you explain his ability to sound like such a badass on any guitar, with any pedal and any amp?!?!?) : ) although in this particular case, I guess he is playing through a pretty sweet amp and cab lol. Robert and dolphinstreet give me GAS bad! careful! you will be buying what he plays in no time! its hard to resist : )
That's from Stephen King's "The Dark Tower"-saga, isn't it? (:
Also, awesome playing as usual. I loved that little funk/jazz/blues thingy you had going on around 2:11 'till 2:29 . That guitar truly sounds wonderful when it's about to break up in the neck position!
Could you maybe make a lesson about the pre-mentioned blues/jazzy thing, or on how to improvise like that? Absolutely loved it!!

the shrillness can be tamed down by removing the bright capacitor, a very common mod done on marshalls

actually, if you read the title, its not JUST about his JVM, it has the worfs 'Michael Kelly' in there too
/win
gothdude94 2 years ago 2
hey kleinster99, your an idiot arguing about something that doesn't make any sense. you say not you again!, as in you found this video by accident. I'm gonna go ahead and guess you purposely found this to try and make fun of something more talented than you; kinda funny, but mostly pathetic. why don't you take your stupid criticism to a different channel and stop being a stupid dick.
by the way, fuck off.

I want to hear a demo of the amp in "Metal Mode"
Gtrplyr1 2 years ago 2
this amp is not for METAL trust me
atheistmayora 2 years ago
i played it at gc and it does work for metal, you just need a THD hotplate with the gained turn up. I just got one used and it sounds good to me. But i noticed not many people play metal with it.
Gtrplyr1 2 years ago
For metal sound...Check out this video "Marshall JVM 410 [Overdrive 2 red]"
Gtrplyr1 2 years ago
you have really no idea man!
the red mode of OD2 is killer and damn brutal...and believe me i know when something is brutal!!!superb metal amp, too
Andy13deanguitars 2 years ago
u know too much about nothing at all
atheistmayora 2 years ago
hm yes and now go pooping in your face
PS: Rob Flynn uses this head and machine head's tone is brutal dumbass
Andy13deanguitars 2 years ago
sorry i posted the comment in the wrong video my friend had a jcm2000 and it did not sound that good he sold it and got a randall RM100
atheistmayora 2 years ago
ah no problem but i think the JVM is very good for metal, isn't it??I'm going to buy it ;)
Andy13deanguitars 2 years ago
JVM is just the evolution of JCM i think... so these amps since JCM are very good for everything, from rock n roll, to metal! is just pure tube tone, that has been used since 1950, jimmy page speaks only by hearing led zepelin albums.
KiKzSulSa 2 years ago
WRONG!!! Rob Flynn has used Peavey 5150s since his days in Vio-lence and he's been using them through out every Machine Head album and Live Show. Marshall's sound WEAK compared to amplifiers like Boogie and Bogner. And before you say i don't know anything, I've owned more amps than you probably have and have always sold my Marshall's cos they can't compare to my Bogner Ecstasy
syxxsyxxsyxx 2 years ago
so thats your opinion...!!!
mine is different...so let me think what i like!!!
Andy13deanguitars 2 years ago
Keep thinking until you hear it i guess. However, don't start saying so and so uses Marshall because you like them. Marshall don't have the endorsers that most amp companies (Bogner, Mesa, Randall etc) have!!!
Marshall have Zakk Wylde, Slash and Kerry King for well most known players. Nothing impressive, just guys who can't play anything other than pentatonic.
syxxsyxxsyxx 2 years ago
so fuck the players you dickhead...i'm my own person and not a zakk wylde or something like that!!!so you commercial dumbass leave me alone
Andy13deanguitars 2 years ago
Listen here you teenage piece of shit. You can't accept the fact you tried to pass off a Marshall by trying to JUSTIFY it cos someone uses it. So before you say fuck the players, think about what you said.
syxxsyxxsyxx 2 years ago
hey man i didn't mean the players suck...ok???
marshall has killer players like wild, mustaine, aldrich, campbell and heafy!!!
i just wanted to say that i have my own opinion...between i'm not a teenage piece of shit man..i am 16 and playing guitars for 9 years!!!this amp rules and i don't give a fuck you think about it
Andy13deanguitars 2 years ago
No what i'm saying is that people hardly use Marshalls now. I'm 23 and have been playing for 14 years, so whats your point?
The AMP sucks!!! You will only know it when a REAL amp over shadows the JVMs tone and the funny thing about it is, is that pretty much every amp out there today can over shadow a Marshall.
syxxsyxxsyxx 2 years ago
hey man you feel fine now???
ok so let me say if you don't accept my opinion and think the amp sucks than don't watch this video and don't fuck my nerves...so don't waste your time

I agree with you for the most part. Their is a lot a badass amp manufactures out there. I can think of quite a few that beat the piss out of Marshall amps. Marshall isn't what it used to be, they used to have much more quality stuff.
lmihay 2 years ago
@lmihay
liiike what?? am thinking about buying a marshall and this one looks pretty good, but what are the much mroe wuality stuff that marshall has?
tcherassi1 2 years ago
Does it have to be a head or would a combo work? What's your budget the JVM is like $2200 (I think). What kind of music do you play and will pedals be put through.
lmihay 2 years ago
@lmihay umm...i have a wah pedal...LOL, lol i play basicly stuff like led zeppelin, metallica, steve vai, hendrix, u know...i just kinda need a rock tone, metal tone, good clean tone, and yea am pretty sure this amp has all that, i dont play like friken death metal or somthn like that so yea...and i would PROBAAAABLY buy it used so...yea, and some dude got it online for like $1300 and yea well i would prefer a head with a cab
tcherassi1 2 years ago
Are you going to gig with it. (Like in giant places)
lmihay 2 years ago
@lmihay
i want to and i probably will but for now am just in my room...chillin....
tcherassi1 2 years ago
@tcherassi1 uNLESS U HAVE PLACID NEIGHBOURS AND CAN AFFORD ear splitting sound don't go for stacks in a room. I play a 30 watts combo for practice in an average sized room and I have to turn the volume less than half for clean.
MrJackanthony 1 year ago
Hahahahaha, yup, fuck all people use marshalls alright, Alexi Laiho, Iron Fucking Maiden, Zakk, Bjorn Gellotte (in flames), KK, Matt Heafy, Roope Latvala (occasionally), Hanneman... should i go on?
MaiDeNrock11 2 years ago 2
Yeah they might all use Marshalls but how many heads do these guys need to be heard??? I bought this Marshall to check it out for a gig i had at the Scala (same stage as Alice In Chains) and the lead singers 5150 pissed all over it with his volume being on 3. My volume on the JVM was at 7 and it still sounded weak. Want the proof? watch the vid of us at the gig

syxxsyxxsyxx 2 years ago
@syxxsyxxsyxx I see your point man, but to be fair that doesnt make it a bad amp, it could be many things, maybe the soundguy did a crap job on levelling the guitars, maybe your settings are shit, not saying they are but its possible, and also its cus you have 2 guitarists, its always hard to match up amps, cus they have different tonal spectrums etc one may always be "bigger" than the other, just gotta experiment to find an amp that you like but levels out with the other players!
Esbanez 2 years ago
@MaiDeNrock11 lol, they use marshalls kus they really are fucking awsome for all styles of music, unless u play heavy metal and want a mesa boogie or somthn
tcherassi1 2 years ago
@tcherassi1 Any kind of high wattage stack is a big mistake for ''just chillin in your room''.
peak199 1 year ago
@peak199 True and yet let the man play on what he wants... lol

@ArkAngelHFB Was just trying to help him out.
peak199 1 year ago
@MaiDeNrock11 Yes please do. You'll run out soon.
MrJackanthony 1 year ago
even though that makes no sense because over 90% of what you play on a guitar is a scale, people like the pentatonic scale because its a good building block to build your songs.

what kind of guitar is this? what brand name is it?
HOWYOUDOIN884 2 years ago
