i dont fucking care how many turbos this p.os. has on it,but is to fricking weak ,anyfricking tacoma will do the same thing, and the gmc cyclon will rape this truck on a quarter mile
@flakio2012 you're comparing a performance sport truck to a normal work truck.... yeaaah thats what the SVT Lightning is for buddy. must not be too weak if its running low to mid 15s in the quarter..... ~facepalm~
@MrTruckguy420 hahahahahahahaah why you so upset??couse a said the truth, well i don fucking care,i still rather drive my tacoma than your piece of shit ecobooshit
@fivepointohpwr That's because the ecoboost engine provides a significant amount of torque at under 3500 RPM. It doesn't have to rev up like other weaker engines do. It already has the power instantly available.
I have to say I never will get a truck with a V6, partly for nostalgia and mostly for the noise/low end torque of a V8. Quite obviously the EcoBoost V6 can hold its own.
But you just can’t beat the power and fuel economy of a good PowerStroke diesel!! So that’s where I’ll stay.
@tang347 that thing's got a V6. put a shitload of shit in the bed and it can't move. same with the I4 taurus and explorer, load them up, it can't move.
it will move, with 365 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque, it doesnt matter if its a v6, it will MOVE. and these pickups with this motor will actually out pull the 5.7 hemi.
@jason123456789210 Really? And where do you get your info from? There's no 4 cyl taurus. And both the explorer eco boost and f150 eco boost have more torque than their larger engine options. You can load them up. And they will move.
@jesseleerich Ah yes there is. Its also an ecoboost turbo charged 2L 230 horsepower and 240lb/ft of torque. Comes in the focus, fusion, tauris, Falcon, and the explorer.
well the only problem with TT vechiles is going to be the maintence adn not to many people will be able to do "at home work on these trucks" They will make a killing of maintence once your warraties run out..a fkin killing. nice idea though
@mustang4sho straight up everone thinks this motor is so great because of the torture test but little do they know the eco-boost only drove 4k miles on road and the rest of 156k miles was done on a dyno. thats no way to test a vehicle and as for that motor having equal10 years of abuse... yes but 10 years of abuse actually takes 10 years. a 10 year old engine has already starting corroding which starts taking away the durability of motors. but either way is a killer motor.
If Ford Was smart they would also make this engine available for the Ford Ranger and Keep the Ranger in Its line up, I know I would sure as hell grab a 3.5L Twin Turbo'd Ranger!
@raydulce You can turn off the traction-control, you normally turn it off for heavy snow or mud driving (with it on you wont go anywhere) but you can also turn it off to do smoke shows and get your tire dealer all worked up.
@bsharporbflat I believe "Brake Over Accelerator" is separate from traction and stability control. You can disable traction and stability (Advancetrac), but there is no way to disable the brake vs accelerator battle...
@raydulce The brake over accelerator is disabled when you disable de traction control but anyway I own a 2011 Ecoboost and I don't have BOA , this feature was available only on 6.7 diesel F250 this year, so this guy doesn't have it either.
Anyone else ever notice that ford is making ecoboost motors to increase gas mileage on their cars yet everyone drives them like they stole them? Therefore killing all their hard work to achieve higher mpg's lol.
@getalife04 Now that you say that, I got passed the other day by a guy driving a Prius doing about 90 mph. Just shook my head thinking, dude, your not getting it!
@91slownotch Yep see, and I bet that dude wasn't getting shit for mileage driving that fast. Electric car or not the faster you go the more fuel/charge you use. It's just that simple lol.
@petorian1 The Ford EcoBoost has 360 hp, and 420 ft-lb torque at a very low 2500 rpm. The 5.3 Vortec V8 provides only 326 hp, and 348 ft-lb torque at 4400 rpm. For the same fuel economy, the Ford motor has a lot more twist available at much lower engine speed.
@1999z71silverado that's like saying anything 2 wheel drive is pointless. some people want the luxury items of an fx4 but they don't need or cant afford the four wheel drive.
@bezzle67 well 4x4s can be used in 2wd, u never know when ur gonna need 4wd and if u cant afford 4wd thts ok but ur probably not getting an ecoboost offroad package truck
@1999z71silverado why not? same power, more torque all across the rpm range, lighter, more fuel efficient... sounds better to me. That all that torque will help especially.
@bezzle67 what im saying is if u cant afford a 4x4 ecoboost then ur probably not going to get and ecoboost offroad package. ur most likely just going to by a 2wd drive truck with the ecoboost in it.
@1999z71silverado so then you get the fx2, making it not pointless. Near identical looks to an fx4 but with 2 wheel drive. Also, the first sentence of ur last comment is redundant. If you can't afford a 4x4 ecoboost XL, you clearly can't afford an ecoboost FX4. Another thing is that some people want a truck but also good fuel economy. i.e. ecoboost 4x2 = 22 hwy mpg while ecoboost 4x4 ~19 hwy mpg. BAM! mind, blown.
@adamberg666 The current ones are limited to something like 6 psi by the computer. No need for new turbos just chip it. Chipping the ecoboost motor should have the same effect as when someone chips their turbodiesel truck - like adding another motor.
@xterrasesc we have a 2010 5.4 and it actually puts out alot. It will smoke a chevy or dodge but yeah the ecoboost is way better. Don't underestimate the 5.4 though
@Stickman53fe its rumored that the harley-davidson edition sometime in the future may have a 5.0L "road runner" using the same twin turbo concept as the ecoboost, but not officially an ecoboost engine as it does not feature direct injection.
@motocrosser59 this 5.0 ecoboost is sposed to be a 5.0 "road-runner" Codenamed Road Runner, it is rumored to be a 500 hp engine to be used in the 2012 Shelby GT500 and F-150 Harley-Davidson edition pickups. but is not to be shared in the eco-boost family because it doesnt have direct injection. they made a bobcat 5.0 dual fuel in 2010 but have not released anything
what is the average fuel economy on the 2011 3.5 liter eco boost...and has anyone drove this truck yet..if so what do u think about it im gonna go test drive me one of em when in get a chance...i want to know what to expect from it so far i love this truck!!!
@rangeranger91 16/22. I got to drive one about a month ago and the truck is a beast! You barely need to touch the gas pedal at all. The six speed tranny also let it "breeze" down the highway at about 70 MPH no problem.
The twin turbos in the eco boost models all do the same thing, one turbo is for lower rpms and the other picks up where it leaves off with some kind of waste gate.
@scizot12 This YT channel is a media outlet, not an EcoBoost owner. It's a similar engine as used in the Taurus SHO so there's plenty of info about it already. @pfun41 the new f150s are getting really really good fuel economy ccause of fords new engine designs, my '11 6.2 lariat is geting 24.6mpg under normal driving, aka not when my foot is stuck to the floor which is very tempting with the power of the truck
@Ls7colorado you are just not used to it being so quite. I had to watch it again..It was spinning out the whole way. And I am sure they aren't going to slam the throttle, rather ease into it.
Nah its your reasoning thats flawed. I said exhaust note, you can throw engine noise in there too. But removing sound deadening would only open you up to wind and tire noise and drone. Are you telling me you don't know anyone who just likes the way their car sounds and bought it with that being a factor? Cause I know a whole crapload of people who do. All you're talking about is poseurs, and you aren't much better than them if you write off everyone with a louder car as one.
@BloodyNeighbor And the 6.2L managed better mileage when towing. And the 5.0L was within a mile per gallon of the 3.5L Ecoboost highway. But instead of debating which is better I'm just glad that Ford has some gas engines in the F-150 that now put them ahead of all the competition. They have not beating their competition this bad since the mid 1990s.
@BloodyNeighbor Not necessarily. And I'm not disagreeing with you just to disagree. But now that some road tests has gotten out has done one of the first real drives with all 4 of Fords new engines. And when towing the Ecoboost only managed 8-9 mpg, And was only a few tenths of a second faster than the 5.0L and 6.2L to 60mph I will post the times up so you can see them.
@BloodyNeighbor So you're both a doctor and a statistician who's had enough experience treating ED to create a distribution that suggests that having an engine in a truck that sounds like something means you have ED? Course you aren't, you just like worn out cliches.
Anyway if you think just having an exhaust note is the mark of someone trying to showoff, you've got your own issues to work out.
not a big fan of fords and any trucks but I have to say the the the F-150 is very good but the best truck i have ever seen is the F-350, that thing is just a monster.
Ford needs to use the ecoboost technology on a v8 and put it in a car that would be bad ass

@Ls7colorado you are just not used to it being so quite. I had to watch it again..It was spinning out the whole way. And I am sure they aren't going to slam the throttle, rather ease into it.

@BloodyNeighbor

@BloodyNeighbor Hey I want exhaust sound to. And that's what the new 5.0L and 6.2L V8's are for. You don't HAVE to buy an Ecoboost.
