Valkyrie Review

I went to see this film and I did think that the film should of starred actual German actors. Only one of the actors in the film was actually German and that was Thomas Kretschman. The actor who played Hitler wasn't as good as the one in Downfall, I'd recommend Downfall that's a better film about Hitler.

I'm looking to see if I can get the film in German.

bought the dvd a couple of weeks ago, the movie is fantastic though I was completely disappointed with cruise's performance. It was nearly impossible to look at him and not think of his character in Top Gun. He didn't bring enough passion to the role. Very bland performance. Agree that the rest of the cast is wonderful.

I saw this movie because I love and respect Bryan Singer - talented director. "Valkyrie" was ok but I didn't feel the atmosphere of that period in our history. "Enemy at the Gates" (2001) and "Black Book" (2006) were much better films. I actually enjoyed Tom Cruise's performance but he did not take the lead as strongly as he should have. His non-German accent was not an issue it was the strength that he displayed in his performance that was disappointing to many. The supporting cast was superb

I had the opposite reaction to the film. I had felt for a long time that Hollywood over-glamorized the lifestyle of spies and secret operatives, from 007 to Mr. and Mrs. Smith. It was always too much in the way of gunfights, explosives, and high tech devices. Tension for real secret operatives is more of those quiet moments, when you are not sure if you will get caught, if your plans will succeed, if anyone suspects. Valkyrie succeeds here, more so than most films I have seen.

I totally agree with AnyJmovies review. Brannagh made his worst appearance on film I have ever seen. All this different accents, especially for me as a German were akward to say the least. British actors in a "German movie" will never work. You can not fake Nazis with foreign actors - impossible. People of a nation have very distinctive "features", they walk, talk, speak and behave in a certain way. And we Germans have never been a melting pot until second world war.

The idiot who did this review is a moron this film was great for an English speaking audience he must be a really boreing person i was on the edge of my seat when they were at the wolfs liere it was very tence and its not a really a action war movie its a thriller set in the war with high ranking officers etc and one of the things i found quite funny was that most of the actors in the film were English actors i thought it was great anybody who dosent like this film is a twat im sorry to say.

This is an excellent movie. I watched it with three friends two nights ago and everyone raved about what a fine movie this is. It beautifully and skillfully tells a story that needs to be told.

Until this came out, I did not know that so few knew of this event. I learned about it in detail over 40 years ago. It makes you wonder what is being taught in history classes. Not much, apparently.

I found the movie a disgrace to history, Germany and the audience ! Tom cruse was horrible I mean he had a terrible German accent at the beginning ,it was like he wasn't even trying it was more like his laziest attempt I have ever watched and I am not saying this because of his past ,but it was like all the fire was gone out of him. I have lost any hope for expecting any good movie will ever coming out of Hollywood ever again. This was even worst the b rate movies I wasted my time watching it !

i found that this movie was very slow and only kicked into gear when the assassination attempt happens and from then on i enjoyed it. i found any suspense or emotional involvement i could have with the story or characters killed as we all knew that he lived and they dided. the accents were not really a problem for me however with this great cast and director i thought they could have done something a little better. nice review and keep it up

It is difficult to write an objective view of a movie like this sometimes as it can depend on the mood you're in when you watch it. But I have to agree with the review totally!! I too found it underwhelming and lost interest.

yeah its true about the mood. Juno for excample i had issues with the lingo, but after rewatches those problems have since gone and its now my fave movie of 2007 (USA release date) . thanks for the comment
