Anything that I think will make a good basis for a song. It could be him, or it could be someone else or no one at all. Either way, it isn't anyone's place to judge anyone. it's a sad song, it's real, and it cuts deep.

Most times kids who grow up with a single parent usually are going to feel like they were a mistakes children usually blame themselves when something goes wrong with their parents. And than when he says maybe one day youll know my name, because the kid will not know that he's his real father. And he knows she is having his kid but he has to sit on the side lines. They had an affair but when he went back to his regular life and so did she, he knew they couldnt have a future mothering and fathering.
He says in an interview that it`s about a girl he dated who got pregant and he didn't want to be with her any more but she told him he couldn't be part of the kids life if they weren't together. He doesn't even know if it's his for sure, but he's offered every type of support to be in the kids life.
this song is actually about his ex girlfriend and how she became pregnant with his child, and got a abortion. when it said "scared by the thoughts of your father" he's talking about how her father made her give up the child and how the girl was scared by her own father, with what he might do. and do you think that "and who knows, maybe one day, you will know my name" is from his childhood? have a good day, though. :)

In my opinion it sounds like he had an affair with someone and she got pregnant with his kid. But since she was in a relationship he had to lie and say that the kid wasn't his. And than when he says maybe one day youll know my name, because the kid will not know that he's his real father. And he knows she is having his kid but he has to sit on the side lines. They had an affair but when he went back to his regular life and so did she, he knew they couldnt have a future mothering and fathering.

He says in an interview that it`s about a girl he dated who got pregant and he didn't want to be with her any more but she told him he couldn't be part of the kids life if they weren't together. He doesn't even know if it's his for sure, but he's offered every type of support to be in the kids life.

this song is actually about his ex girlfriend and how she became pregnant with his child, and got a abortion. when it said "scared by the thoughts of your father" he's talking about how her father made her give up the child and how the girl was scared by her own father, with what he might do. and do you think that "and who knows, maybe one day, you will know my name" is from his childhood? have a good day, though. :)

@xXVAlUREEXx it's not that he didn't want the baby.. he offered to help take care of the baby and do his part as the father..but she didn't even know if it was his. and she said if he left, he would have no part in the child's life. and when he says "and maybe one day she will know my name." he is refering to the baby.

@1992kbreezy there's a video here on youtube, probably more than one, of him talking about this song. It has to do with a now ex girlfriend of his who told him she was pregnant and that he wouldn't be able to see the baby at all if he were to leave her.
