I like Jack Johnson, fisrt time I ever heard this song. But speaking about the water, It has FLOURIDE in it. Flouride is a poision, even the toothpaste tube tells you not to swallow it. @shortwingn I had to put on my earphones and listen to this to try and give you a better answer. Although it does sound like he is referring to a near drowning incident, there is also a deeper meaning. Basically in life you can just go along with everyone else, hence drink the water drink it down and make no sound. But be careful what you ride because you just might find that you're out of time to swim ashore. I believe meaning getting in too deep, leading to destruction of ones life.Make sense?

It sounds to me like he is referring to a girl that uses her looks to get what she wants and possibly deceive and hurt people, but in the end she ends up burning her bridges and reaping what she has sewn. Also, when he says unlike plastic, easier to see through, he is most likely saying he can see through her act, and knows that inside there is a girl that is hurting or possibly very insecure with herself. Just an opinion here, feel free to elaborate on yours.

That one is most difficult to try and figure out, I think it could mean a thousand different things. My advice is to get out of it whatever you can. So in short I would have to agree with what you say, I think it definitely identifies with society and what people do to fit in and try to be accepted. Here's a song for you, Cookie Jar. One of my favorites, just learned it on guitar recently :) Tell me what you think it's about, shouldn't be too hard, the lyrics are awesome.

This song is about a time when jack Johnson was 17 and he got into a surf accident during a competition that almost cost his life. Jack says the reason he crashed was because he was afraid and didn't believe in himself. its shows how cant be afraid when you do things or else your doomed to fail.
