I have an iTouch 2G 8GB, i had updated it to 4.1, Then i decided to jailbreak it but i couldnt with 4.1, so i simply downloaded the stock 4.0 firmware and i changed the HOSTS file properly as it says to, and i put the itouch in recovery mode, itunes found it, i shift restored it to the 4.0 file, it completed with NO ERRORS, and i found that my itouch started right up to the stock 4.0 screen as if it were new. I did NOT have to do anything else, not even use irecovery or ireb or anything.
