Even though this has a somewhat somber melody, it is timeless and classic Eno. It is without a doubt one of my favorite of all his compositions, and several other favorites on here include Julie with the Open blouse and The Big Ship. Before and After Science was truly one of the most brilliant albums by one of the greatest musical geniuses of our time.
@MasterYumyums This tune was originally released in 1977 on Eno's fifth studio album, "Before and After Science." In the album notes, HJ Rodelius and Dieter Mobius got co-"writer(s)" credits, with Eno, for this song. Rodelius and Mobius played instruments on this album, as well. And this song is included for sale in the "Works" collection, by Rodelius. But, c'mon! Google's "Artist" credit here should be a link to Brian Eno and his work, not Rodelius.
QUESTO PEZZO E' VERAMENTE, VERAMENTE, MA VERAMENTE.... ISPIRATO. Bellissimo!! Il testo poi.... se possibile, è ancora più ISPIRATO. Vibrano corde inusuali e sconosciute in me
"you talk to me as if from a distance, and I reply with impressions chosen from another time..." this is sheer inspiration, pure clarity - it's the spiritual successor to the line "I stand on the beach giving out descriptions different for everyone I see" Brian Eno at his best is profound almost without compare
I've listened to this track hundreds of times now and i still find it fresh and real. My daughter walks in and says "why do you listen to that dad its so sad".... 'but its not" I reply - with impressions chosen from another time, time time time..from another time.
Let me try to tell you the meaning of this song to me..I used to say that I cried so many tears into the Detroit river it should have been salt water by now...A marrigae took place there, a marrige ended there, truths were told there that could have broken the hardest of hearts.."you talk to me as if from a distance, and I reply with impressions chosen from another time, time, time from another time. That river holds secrets..The song is to Steven..who will never forgive me. Kate
The very faint faraway "anvil" sound is so fucking brilliant. . . It places a world around the singer. I've always considered this to be absolute genius.
@AFirmKickInThePants as soothing as as a last ever blowjob while youre on the pillow made of clouds, with a smell of cookies and honey while an angel is playing harp next to you
Majority of Eno's lyrics are improvised or use stream of conciousness, since he would sing nonsense into the mic, play it back and then make words out of it. So they're not usually meant to mean something, but to describe an atmosphere or to fit the song. He builds the lyrics around the song, rather than build the song around the lyrics.
@ZoomZip It is very unusual song, you could feel it different from others so it will mean differently to others...For me, I feel he is in love but he and his lover from different world they stay in their place although the life is moving like a river they stay love each other but Underneath a sky that's ever falling down..Mean with no hope, they stay together all the day as the day has no end, they don’t feel the time, TPC
@ZoomZip , (Waiting here, Always failing to remember why we came, came, came: I wonder why we came) over all the problems still they meet each other no matter why... (You talk to me as if from a distance And I reply With impressions chosen from another time)..That much they are far in their thoughts from each other although their hearts are linked together.....and that is love love love
I first heard it in the movie "Stanza del filgio" (Son's Room). It was 5th or 6th April 2010. I kept listening that song every day, feeling more and more sad... and April 10th the plane with the Polish president and many nice people on board crashed... noone survived.
@Zahnreperatur WHAT!!!? are you serious, what was happening for this song tu be in the famous mexican movie Y tu mama tambien? no manches ima check it out
