Why is it that people always have to point out the obvious glitches in the videos rather than just accept that the vocals are out of sync? I mean, really. It is amazing that we have this Youtube to see performances that so many remember from our youth. You can find just about anything (I mean, I found Bobby Sherman singing "Seattle..which I remember from when I was 3!) so why not just appreciate that rather than be so cynical about the little stuff, choreography, syncing, etc? Grow up, please!?
I was lucky enough to see Mack and Mabel at the Drury Lane Theater in London in 1988. WHht a show--Georgia Brown, George Hearn, Tommy Tune, and Stubby Kaye--and Jerry Herman in person. Great musical score--Herman's favorite, too.
I saw this mid nineties revival in London and the more recent "bare bones" revival , also in London...the music is always wonderfull..so the book isn 't 100 %...mmm..I've seen MUCH worse books on so-called golden age classics(ever seen the pajama game ?what a stinker)..so it's all in the euye of the beholder I guess..i have the feeling a:lot of people are parroting what they've read in all those broadway books and rely less on their own experience
i love jerry herman to death,but...let's face, the books are not really very good-the elisions(and character collapsing) in 'mame' take it to the brink of disaster.even without lucille ball!
Love Mack and Mabel.. My school is doing a play on mack and mabel and it takes the piss to rehearse. i know because im mabel in it and my feet and throut are killing:( worth it though this musical is great!!
My school did this a month ago, and I got to be in the pit orchestra. Man, if there's anything better than watching the play directly, it's BEING A PART OF IT!!! Mack and Mabel IS AWESOME.
Totally agree about Kathryn Evans - Years ago I saw her play Evita brilliantly in the West End. She's playing Norma Desmond in Sunset Boulevard at the Watermill in Newbury this summer. Should be good!
I saw this when it opened at The Haymarket in Leicester. It might have been 1995 or 1996 but I have been in love with Caroline O'Connor ever since!!!!
This production of Mack and Mabel was the first West End showing. Others have followed.
This one had a wonderful musical director and was solid musically. Great score and always a pleasure to see and hear.

I would love to see footage of the original version with Bernadette Peters... Does anyone know if that even exists?

Great score but what a crappy book. Everyone tries to resuscitate this show but the book is just awful. I hope they get it right one day.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This is a woman? Looks like a drag queen. But pretty good singing. But the best version of Wherever He Ain't???Chita Rivera in Jerry's Girls.

Kathryn Evans excels in the Tap Your Troubles Away. What a star this girl is!

This is good, but they should have sung "Hit 'Em On The Head"- that's the best song in it.
