  • Perfection!!!

  • No wonder Filipino choirs are feared throughout the world. Two thumbs up! :)

  • The Best interpretation I 've heard so far, just Brilliant Congrats!!! This Choir is from the Philippines.... I am just in awe. .

  • so similar with the version my Ensemble performed last year ! <3 miss it !

  • my school held its annual spaghetti sing today where all of the choir classes sung their song. and the concer choir class sung this today, and this was my first time ever hearing it and it was OUTSTANDING!!!!! this video is even more OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • IN-CRED-IBLE!

    I got chills.

Wow, I hope we're a quarter this good.

  • AMAZING!!!! ABSOLUTELY SPEECHLESS

  • This is such a badass version of Elijah Rock. Awesome.

  • Ahh you guys are so good!

Were singing this in my Highschool Concert Choir and were definitely not as good!

  • blown away, everytime i play this video, thisis the best version...recorded =] hope my choir can pull this off....

  • How funny-- I think the Tabernacle choir is the most dated, syrupy swallowed, self inflated, sloppy ensembles that is safe behind a thiny veiled PC liturgical curtain that no person dares question. Have you heard of the musical version of the Emperor's New Clothes? That many voices don't have to be good to be good. I know people in the ensemble- current and former- and they are deeply mediocre- corporately and individually-- not all but definitely most. Good Mormons- not good singers.

  • @sethalfred

I have heard of ENC, but how does it relate? You didn't answer my questions. And I'm sure those people you claim to know (definitely most?) would love to know that you think they're deeply mediocre. I would love to hear your talent and see how you compare. I'd also love to see you prepare a full concert in 10 or less rehearsals with 350+ voices and 100+ instrumentalists. Until you can provide me with this, and until you truly understand what you're discrediting, please be nice.

  • Philippine choirs are quite simply some of the best in the world. Great rendition, and not just any other rendition. They truly made it their own.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG I REMEMBER WHEN WE SUNG IT I LOVE IT ^.^

  • CHILLS.

  • LOVE IT!

  • @ sycamp they are from the philippines. go ust singers! :D

  • gosh has anybody ever seen something like this before?....I havent!!! damn where have I been all this while??!! awesome!! WHere are they from? accurate tempo, good loudness control, good teamwork...omg....no words..

  • stunningly great sound of all!

  • 3:16 OH MY GOD

  • holy shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. GOOSEBUMPS ALL THROUGH OUT! FREAKIN' AWESOMEEEEEE!!!!

  • I have to say, this was quite impressive! At first, I said 'oh great, they gonna screw this up'. Put my foot in my mouth

  • There's a strong possibility that I'll be doing this in my high school Chamber Choir for our spring concert. Very cool....awesome performance in terms of technique, tone and dynamics. <3

  • This is outstanding, But im sorry, Moses Hogans Choir does it best.

  • @corjorgasm moses hogan choir just happen to be the original, but this group gives a little bit of an edge to this song that is why it sounds more outstanding than the original.

  • yesss!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • holllyyyyYYYY shhhIIITTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

    GREAT JOB!

Im at a loss for words(:

  • wow! great dynamics.. =)

  • The Philippines has crazy singing talent.

  • lol sounds great there expressions are so funny!!!!! hahahha

  • @superpanda817 it might look funny but its not just an expression, its more like a technique both physical and psychological just to achieve the very sound that we all admired, and it pays.

  • According to the nature of this choir, this song is suitable for them.

  • most amazing choral song ive ever heard. so amazing... i wanna do this song so bad :D only one word can describe it, EPIC :D

  • To start off, this is an excellent score. I've heard many different compilations of this song, but very few have the intensity and soul it is yearning for. What is unfortunate is the fact that this choir is composed of all western Asian folks and this is an impeccable performance, yet most groups of african americans who attempt to perform this come up short. Great job to this foreign group taking the reigns and kicking ass. This is BY FAR the best interpretation of Elijah Rock yet.

  • @shawnu2bacc: i totally agree with you... just a tiny correction though... southeastern asians, instead of western asians... UST Singers is one of the most highly respected chorale groups in the Philippines... and in the world....

  • @shawnu2bacc I beg to differ...look up Morgan State choir's version...now THAT'S some soul and feeling...but this choir did an amazing job tho....

  • @ImaniLovezMusik I saw and heard Morgan State, they're good, however, I feel that this Choir's, UST from the island of the Philippines, performance has more intensity and passion. They are both good. Please check out World Choir Competition ar langolen Wales, UST choir 2010 and 1995, the only choir in the world to twin this competition twice in its history with over 400 choirs competing. Seams like you are also a choir connoiseur. Thanx

  • @shawnu2bacc i agree with you

  • @shawnu2bacc That is an assumption. African Americans gave you this art form.

  • Wow...Just...WOW. Amazing.

  • Those women are fire!

  • COMPLETELY SPEECHLESS RIGHT NOW!

  • filipino no doubt world class on all sectors especially on arts and craftsmanship

  • I have goosebumps.

  • I shuffle between this and their "Unusual Way". Love it!

  • @cubic3square2 unusual way! (faints) the talent! the sound! im in love

  • @cubic3square2 yup. Their Unusual Way was just amazing.

  • Intensity really works. Bra vi!!!

  • WOW!

  • Oh my goodness this was PERFECT.

  • I've never been into this kind of music, but this so song is so rediculous I just had to hear it again.

  • 2:26

  • best i've ever heard

  • THIS is GENIUS!!!!! love this version. chills to the bone goodness gracious!

  • This choir sounds amazing!

  • NICE

  • OMG

  • YEEEEEES!

  • goose bumps!!!! Amazing

  • Bravo!

We performed this song in high school, and reading about Elijah brought this song back to my head.

  • Wow...

  • nice!!! galing .. kakilabot.. mga boses .keep it up..UST singers,, you're really a Philippine pride!

  • The best of all that sang this awesome Moses Hogan song! Kudos! Kudos! Truly the world champion. Proud of You!!!

  • Beautiful.

  • Congratulations to UST! CHOIR OF THE WORLD 2010! you did it again guys!!

  • you should hear BHSVocal do it!! bunch of high school students. they graduated

  • I love it! I loved it when we sang it my senior year (2010)... It is/was the best thing ever!

  • so nice and great!

  • ok this was hot!!! We sang that at DBU and I got to say yall got us beat. WOW

  • Wimples17-you are clueless. If I explained how off base you are it would be way over your head, as you obviously know nothing about vocal technique, choral balance,"matching" vowels",ect. By the way-It's "mezzos" and I hear them fine, inperfect balance. Maybe it's your ear,or,more correctly, lack of one, that is the problem there as well?

  • This is one of the best versions I have ever heard of this song. I love acapella music...especially spirituals

  • Jaw dropped!! that was friggin AWESOME!!

  • This is a good video. I enjoyed watching it.

  • this gives me chills everytime!

  • OMG!!! Hahah Its cause theyre all philippino haha :P my choir did this they did good but this is GREAT!! haha.

  • Magnífico!!!!

  • There's only one problem with this. They start in tune, and by 1:26, they're almost a half step sharp. Other than that, this is GREAT.

  • This group has so much convication when they sing this song and the annointing that it brings when they perform. I get teary eyed every time I see this.

  • The best by far....Hands down.... And I've heard the Moses Hogan Chorale!!!!!

  • They need to tune up their vowels. And the altos need to have more power. I can't even ear the metsoes. They need more bass. The high note sucks.

  • truly magical sound

  • amazing!

  • the way UST singer sang elijah rock was fantastic.. the technique was overwhelming.. i just cant help watching this one!!

  • palitan tayo ng piyesa :)

  • hi! just wanna ask. why is it like joan cano is somewhat piss off to the guy beside her? 4:55 . im just wondering.

  • What in the world?!?! This is absolutely the BEST version of this song I have come across. FANTASTIC!!!

  • they are so pro

  • this song is hilarious, I love it

  • really love to hear your version over and over again... we do have our own rendition of elijah rock though our recorded video started at the middle part almost, hope you guys could give our version a fair critique.. we surely would wanna hear some criticism that we could actually focus and work on... thank you guys and God bless..

  • Amazingly done!!! Look at the tenor whos gettin down lol great job cant wait to upload our performance

  • Love it! We did it this way in all region choir. :) Great job!

  • I was at an OMEA choir competition last night. My school was singing and I was in one of the choirs. Our acapella group sang this! To really appreciate this song you have to go see it live. Awesome awesome job!!!!!

  • I really like this version, but I prefer the original version with the "Spirituals"... This is a song of black people, they really are goods. Bye bye.

  • I see so many versions of this song, but I just keep coming back to this one. This is the best one I've ever seen. They have fantastic tone, great expression, and they are SO powerful!!!!

  • @Singingmyheartout3 THEY SUCK THE WEST ANCHORAGE HIGH SCHOOL CHOIR IS BETTER.

  • @weagles17 Post a video of it and I'll watch it. Until then, I'm sticking to my opinion.

  • @weagles17 lol iv seen that choir youve mention and sound like babies. dont compare this professionals to bunch of amateurs

  • @Singingmyheartout3 they are good butno like moses hogan chorale.. and they have a verry good tecnique

  • amazing dynamic!

  • lol it looks like they are dancing.... im singing something similar! and they got really really good voices

  • whats ust mean

  • university of santo tomas in the philippines

  • we sang this way different

  • we dont sing it like this in our choir its a tade bite slower:)

  • WOOWW !

    they're so goooooodd !(:

  • You guys seem to have put a lot of work into this piece. However, your dynamics seemed to be nothing but Forte which gives the piece less exitement, You should also put more emphasis into your cutoffs and blend to make the choir have a more unified appeal. Overall great job.

  • @cameronbbb that's how the piece was written. and their dynamic flow was amazing.

I'm not sure we're watching the same choir.

  • oh wow! my highschool choir is singing this song for our chorus concert and it is insanly difficult. i hope we are as good as you! this was amazing!

  • Amazing.

  • I think what tour hearing is more an expression of their culture and accent-- not technique- they don't sound like a black choir and neither should they-- I think the influence of an Asian developmental experience is kind of cool- You want to start talking swallowed and syrupy-- let's take a long look at the sacred cow called The Mormon Tabernacle- it's because they base membership selection on the holding of musical education-- not vocal quality or sound.

  • @sethalfred

Have you ever been part of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir or auditioned for them? Have you ever sung with them, watched any of their countless rehearsals, or in any way been a part of learning about their vocal technique? Have you ever sat in the Tabernacle and listened to the full seconds of resonating acoustics in that building? Maybe you should not make comments about things you really know nothing about.

  • Guys, your getting a little sharp and I must agree with unclegawy about the sound being in the basses throats.

  • um...look i know everyone's leaving compliments and they are good yes but...basses and baritones are in their throats too much. it's too swallowed of a sound. it needs to be crisp not long and swallowed. and it's too rushed. my Studio Choir has performed this multiple times and our tempo is perfect so...please slow this down. don't get too excited.

  • congratulations to your studio choir...good for you. sounds great, the bass sound is supposed to sound as deep as possible (in other words, deep in their throat). The tempo is a gentle crecendo through the course of the piece, you should try that with your studio choir, seems like your having trouble. sounds great UST, congratulations on an excellent performance

  • I know what you mean, and usually I don't thuroughly enjoy that "Swallowed of a sound" But I think in this one song, there are so many different parts colliding and when you hear sonmething this beautiful, you want to dive right in, and there are so many things to see, but that strong bass line "Elijah Rock" through practically the whole song needs to be strong and keen, so in this paticular song, the deeper and stronger, the better.

  • my HS choir is practicing this song now....i hope to sound this great!!

    this was beautiful..

  • All I have to say is wow! well done!

  • wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ohhhhhhh wow i luvvv tha soprano part amazing

  • congratulations!

  • that . was . CRAAAAZY!!!!!!!

Our choir sounds like a group of babies compared to this one.

  • The young men really brought out the fire in this piece, and did a FANTASTIC job blending their voices. I wonder did this choir know the origin of this song? It seems they would have to in order to pull it off so well.

  • they sing with so much passion and emotion . and that's what makes this soo great. not to mention the musicianship shown in the interpretation of the music and the performing of it

  • i LOVED it!

my choir is practicing this song right now, hope we sound at least HALF AS GOOD! lol

    this was GREAT

  • OMGGGGGG!!! THIS IS OUTSTANDING. I thought our choir did well...but this...wow i give PROPS!

  • this was very very good...the soloist had some problems with pitch but ither than that it was great!

  • This is absolutely astounding!! and puppetgamerguy, I don't know where you got the idea that this choirs interpretation was faulty. I can only come to the conclusion that you know nothing about choral music or competition.

  • Outstanding job!

  • I understand the raves, don't get me wrong, this choir's interpretation had the ability to be intense. For instance, the soloist on "shout" did it with no intensity, so it came across as something equal to a cat crying for life. Plus, the conductor holding out "Hallelujah, lord" was a BIG mistake. I only want to watch it again to get a good laugh. Plus, the uniforms are ridiculous.

  • yes we should take your comments seriously because in a video about choral singing you criticize a group's National Costume which they wished to highlight in an international competition, mentioned in earlier comments

interpretation is all about choices. they sang it a certain way not because they can't sing it another way but that's how they CHOOSE to. just becoz this choir did not pander 2 your every notion as to how the piece should have been sung doesn't make their interpretation worthless.

  • Yes I should take your comments seriously from a person who spells "because" "becoz"

And you're right, my interpretation doesn't matter, however, it's obvious that they needed to pander to the judges preferred notions, not yours or mine.

  • No offense, but if you have nothing good to say about something, you'ld better SHUT UP! Your remarks are unfounded and uncalled for! Very unprofessional!

  • I agree...and just to let you know...the judges gave this group 100% in 4 or 5 categories they participated in and one (1) 99%...the group received the highest scores in this competition's entire history...So yes, I agree that they needed to "pander" to the judges preferred notions and the group delivered!

  • Fortunately, the judges were credible, respected and well known in the field of international choral music. Now...we don't even know what credentials you have to even comment on this group's interpretation of this song...Again, just a suggestion: expand your horizons. Travel to Europe like most of us did and try to experience being in reputable, credible international choral competitions. Perhaps then, your comments can start to "qualify" to "pander" to my preferred notions...

  • you're pretty insecure. haha.

  • Obviously your mind is limited probably because you are not well travelled. These are not just uniforms, this is a variation in the national costumes of the Philippines. I wouldn't see an Irish man funny wearing his national costume nor think that it is ridiculous...it is his heritage, it is part of his culture and tradition. Your comment here showed how IGNORANT you are...my suggestion: travel more, expand your horizon, perhaps then you'll see things differently...

  • very well said...bravo!bravo! Death to the imbiciles!!!bwahahahaha

  • Is there anything by Moses Hogan that isn't absolutely amazing? of course the music is nothing without perfect execution, which is exactly what these singers brought.

  • i hope to pass d entrance exam of ust.. for me to see this guys in person...pray for me...

  • When did the Seneca Valley High School Intermediate Choir win the Llangollen Choir of the World Competition? I must have missed that year.

  • maybe they didnt compete. but they would have blown the asses out of these pathetic excuses as singers

  • Another moron! Profanity shows the lack of intelligence here, as well as your very obtuse critisism of this wonderful group!

  • You must either be a child or an idiot. This group,if you know anything at all about music, which you obviously don't, is excellent!

  • Um. This was perfect. I don't think any high school could top these WORLD RENOWNED singers.

  • Motion is also one way to express one's emotions you know...have you ever heard of what we call "body language"?..i thing the judges wouldn't give them high scores if they didn't deserve it...I trust the judges decisions because they are more credible...

  • YES!!! now THIS is how u sing this amazing song. My gosh its perfect. I've sing this as soprano in my school's choir and goodness ir couldn've have gotte better than this. Beautiful, 5 stars!!! ^__^

  • wHooaaa!!.....excellent!

  • really like it...very strong
