This book was so great because it was so different even when it was trying to discuss issues that were very much present in literature already. And every step of the way, through the narratives, it's almost as if you felt the tone of what was going to happen next but you were not sure exactly how it was going to play out. **Spoiler** For example, when I was reading Maddie and Dylan's parts, I knew the temporary bliss they felt would eventually come to an end.
Best book i read last year .. in italy its translate in "goodmorning La" .. i must read his first book , a "million little pieces" .. will be a different reading but .. James loves u sooo much !
That book was really nice i don't even read a lot of book and i get bored on the first page but when i saw this one i was just like this might be well written (not in punctuation obviously because he had none on purpose) and it was the story was real and gritty.
i completely agree with you AtenRa....what happened with a million little pieces should not be held against him..bright shiny morning should be a fresh start for him.
This book is fucking great. James Frey is fucking great. I LOVE his writing style and the way he writes everything. Fuck oprah who cares. Of course an addict is going to exaggerate a few things. anyway this BOOK RULES hes my hero. and I hate reading.
I agree. The Queen of Television ate him for breakfast, but that's the extent of his justice. He suffered, was humiliated by one of most powerful personalities in the Western world. How much more blood do you need?
MLP has no connection to BSM. It is his second chance with the world, a completely different and openly fictional story. He has apologized and is moving on. BSM should be evaluated fairly.
no disrespect to oprah but everything he "lied" about was minor...and anyways the events he was writing about in a million little pieces occurred more than a decade prior.
i'm so tired of people putting him down...he really beats the whole purpose of him writing the book
This eaves me numb. Publishing is a crock. That is hardly a secret. But the cynacism. That Laura Albert and I are evil monsters who did evil monster deeds. But James Frey is above that because he actually sells books; millions of them. So what's the bottom line. If you sell a million books, the world -- and publishing -- is your oyster. If you don't sell a million books. You're an evil monster. Money talks. Doesn't THE PUBLIC and players like OPRAH have a role as to what constitutes a culture.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This book could be touted by every critic and I would not read it. This man lied, and has still not been completely forthcoming about his, "memoir."
