wood bats break more today more then in the past due to the type of wood used. Alot of bats today are lighter wood to get faster bat swings and more homeruns. You swing a bat Bill Madlock used compared to today you can feel the difference. Regardless homeruns are harder to hit with wood.

Its too hard to hit a homerun and B. If your not used to using a wood bat it will break on the first swing.
