I was actually going to sign up. I was prepared for the consequences of the training to live my dream. Too bad I had a growth spurt and degradation of my vision at age 17. Suddenly I'm 6'4" and near-sighted and my vision has steadily worsened the last 5 years. Shit sucks man.
@UltimaWeaponDeux but being tall wont keep you from realizing your dream, you dont have to be short to pilot a jet. my dad does it and he is really really tall
@NagaseAluro Well, I could fly transport or support craft. I could also fly privately or commercially, but you can't fly a fighter craft if you can't fit into it. The vision is the biggest thing though. You can't even have corrective surgery and fly in the military last I checked.
@UltimaWeaponDeux Even worse than that everything is going to drones. I'm fresh out of public school in a few months and the planes I have aspired to fly since I was seven are being replaced by drones that can easily be captured undamaged by IRANIANS, FML! This is the stuff my dreams were made of the one and only thing I lived for(no joke). Is this the future, a bunch of programmers sitting in chairs fighting wars. They get ptsd from a screen?!no offense.Give me a belt a I'll show them real ptsd.
@scoped98k Don't be an idiot. There will still be a need for manned aircraft for a good time yet. That RQ-170 that Iran supposedly took down with it's electronic warfare likely crashed due to some sort of mechanical issue or another. The placement of the flags in front of it suggest that they could be covering up damage to the bottom from a crash.
@PvtMartin78 It's still in great condition for the accident it is said to have had. Drones are easy very expensive targets kind of like bombers and piston planes vs the Me262 in WWII. Personally I think making the majority of aircraft being drones is a dumb idea just like the F4 Phantoms that had no machinegun. It makes me wonder why the crash was so professionally smooth and the wings didn't get torn off and engulfed in flames if it did go down on rough terrain in the worst possible conditions
Yesterday, which was exactly one year ago, First Lieutenant Alvin H. Davenport died on mission "Journey Home". He will always be remembered as one of the greatest wingmen ever to fly the skies. R.I.P chopper, you are missed
@FITHRI1000, you sound like a older brother tome even though i don't have a brother. How old are you.. Hope someday i could fly a F-22 Raptor there in U.S. even though i'm the Philippines. The number one ally of U.S. Hope you could pray for all of us (including me) brothers here who want to be in the plain blue sky someday. Goodluck and God Bless us and our country!! :D I'll pray for your success too!
This game goes hard. I got it back in 2004 and it will always hold a special place in my heart. The only reason I still have my old PS2 is for this game (and Shadow of The Colossus).
Whenever I hear this song I feel like crying. I absolutely love this game and its soundtrack. I will never forget all the awesome experiences playing this game. RIP Captain Alvin H. Davenport. Live on Razgriz forever and may I carry it on by becoming a Marine Corps fighter pilot....OOORRAAH!!!
To all the people who wish to become fighter pilots: Good luck and stay safe, and never forget that you are there primarily not to fight in wars but act as the peacekeepers of the world. Remember to follow your morals and do what's best for humanity, protect the world from tyrants and act as role models for the rest of us as humans who have taken on responsibility, duty and honour.
one of my favorite games ever and a beautiful song. Reminds me of my favorite scene where the war is coming to a close but the fighting is not quite over and planes from both sides start to fall in with you and sing this song.
@Nekito16 you are right not all of us will be on the same side but that does not mean anything we all may live in different countries but we all are brothers not by blood but earned in blood remember this in order to become the best you have to have a reason to fight a reason to fly or else you won't survive your first battle my reason will be to protect my home, my country because everyone and everything that i love is there.
Hmm.. I bless you all to be fighter pilots. Pray for me becoming a soldier in in Army so I can see you flying over me in a future battle. Just be safe future fighter pilots, and May god look over you all! ^,..,^
@Fangthewhitewolf4 what if we end up in different sides? after all we all have different dreams and bealiefs, and we all will follow different paths. but no matter what lies ahead, we all are brothers, maybe not in blood, but we all share the struggle to survive and move on. I will look over you, be it as a friend or as an enemy.
To everyone out there who wants to become a fighter pilot I call you brother when the time of war comes i hope all of you will answer the call of duty I pray none of us have to fight each other in the sky s or on the ground i only ask you to remember this there are three types of aces the mercenary, the soldier, and the knight which one will you become
I wish you will become a fighter pilot too I hope that i also will become one to as soon as i graduate from college i will apply to become a US fighter pilot
good luck to all you pilots out their and new ones, for the new pilots look for a marien named jesse bishop (me) cuse im going to create the razgriz squadren and a battle fleet and the main aircraft careyer is the kestral.
when I was a kid, from when i could first remember until i was 12 years old, all i wanted out of life was to become a fighter pilot. Nothing else mattered, nothing else crossed my mind, nothing else mattered, because nothing else comes close to the grace and beauty of those angles danceing across the sky that captivated me when I was younger...i still havent found an ambition to shoot for that could take its place.....
The freedom of flight, from the beach at kitty hawk to the cockpit of the latest fighter out of the skunkworks. Any pilot can tell you, its as close to heaven as you can get.
@soulknight89 I'm sure there were Belkans who opposed being involved with war after the Belkan War. Probably even before that. Belka is supposedly an allegory to Nazi Germany, after all. But man, imagine the country's attitude after losing not only the Belkan War, detonating tac nukes on their own soil, but then being stripped prideless, powerless, and hopeless at the end of the Circum-Pacific War too. Pretty humbling...
hey i love this song but there a way to have it while the 2 side unit whit you to attack the facility core so the sattelite can't lauch the nuke weapon?
@FITHRI1000 Fellow dreamer, for my dream is to fly and I know no one will ever stop me.

@Dtt4 dont worry , i will pray to anyone who pray for me ... what we must do now is study hard , train hard ... and be the hero ... who knows maybe we will meet in the sky ? maybe we allies and maybe foe .. however , we're all brothers ..
@FITHRI1000 There's prayer and then there's practical advice. Not to diss the power of wishing well...have you heard of Microsoft Flight Simulator and the like? A good way to prepare yourself I'd say.
@Hupuable Exactly, and that's what most people do not understand. Warriors know that they are tools of war and are used to carry out these duties, people on the outside cannot and do not realize the true fact that war is hell for those who fight. Warriors don't come home in one piece part of us stays oversea's in the battlegrounds we have fought in.
@shotgun922 "Soldiers like us are too stupid to think for ourselves. That's why we have to sit down and wait for our orders." ~ Captain Jack Bartlette
i think when a game touches this many people in this sort of way it has achieved the pinnacle of game perfection. we only see a few games like this one roll around maybe every 5 or 6 years.
@brokenbones199 there was another one that came out. i don't remember what it was called, but all the comments that were about it had something to do with being sad at what happened in the game
I love this song so much, the words really cut deep into your heart. I was able to meet Mary Elizabeth McGlynn at a convention a few years ago and commented to her how great this song was. Most people know her as a voice actress, but she is also a fantastic beautiful singer.
this song greatly matches with the story of Razgriz if you understanded the story and closed the game on Ace theres a high chance you may cry i can say because i did that this is the better game on Ace Combat series the song really makes you think about a good future i hope Namco make a great game like this again the feeling of hearing it after you cleared the game on ace is soo conforting and really calms you down its just awesome to hear it i cant describe it other way
1. Making the Russians the bad guys yet again. Lame. I'm sick of fighting Russians in every single war game that comes out.
2. Having it set in the real world instead of the fictional world like the other games. -Lame.
3. Having a mission where the player is a door gunner on a helicopter... This is Ace Combat, not Call of Duty. Next I suppose we'll be driving tanks and shit.
4. The "Close Range Assault System" thing looks stupid.
@stuartKIM457 That is just terrible of you to say. How can anyone be so ignorant and hate-filled that they would claim to enjoy slaughtering innocent men and women? What is it that sets people like you apart from Al Qaeda? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. You are blinded by an irrational hatred for a people, and in my eyes, you are every bit as terrible as someone in Al Qaeda. It is people like you that fill this world with hatred and terror, and we would be better off without people like you.
@reeper147 Now you, I like. One of the things I've loved most from ace combat is that they never fight for war, they fight for peace. Flying is about peace. If it were up to me planes would never be used as a weapons. It breaks my heart.
@BiTTjl Well, the A-10C is able to take out entire tank columns with a well placed cluster bomb. The Air Force, in an era without a clearly defined bad guy (back in the Cold War, good and evil were very clearly laid out), is our deterrent; you tick a country off, air power is gonna tell you otherwise. Without aircraft as weapons, WWII would be just as bad as WWI was. Not to mention the fact Pearl Harbor and the Battle of Britain would not have been possible if we hadn't weaponized aircraft.
@BiTTjl That does make sense, but I stand by my previous argument. Without any defined bad guys, we MUST rely on aircraft for deterrence. The key deciding factor of both Gulf Wars and Afghanistan was our air power, ONLY BECAUSE they brought our combined fury on themselves.
@BiTTjl Handley Page converted his 0/400 WWI bomber into the world's first air transit. Next time you see a cargo or passenger jet, think of Handley Page and his 0/400.
@Digolgrin Air power is really a thing to be feared, but in context with Ace Combat it's distorted. The game is nothing like a flight simulator, so in real life air support is not the omnipotent and unstoppable fairy tale they write it out to be. The game doesn't explain where the fuel comes from, or how much it costs to maintain the planes.
In real life air power is very expensive. It's proportionate to how strong they are.
@BiTTjl I agree with you one-hundred percent. I've always been in love with the "Golden Age of Aviation," after wartime when people were flying for recreation, or to set records. I know shitloads about aeronautics, and to this day I am amazed by that fact that we can fly. I'm not especially anti-war, but I hate that something so wonderful has to be related to something so awful.
@F14ace I sort of agree because all the trailers so far lack the feeling of a real story. Looks like it's all action at the moment but I can't wait until it comes out though. I really do hope I'm wrong about it JUST being action
"This is missile destroyer Gumrak of the glorious Yuktobanian Navy. We cannot follow a Fleet Commander willing to sink one of his own ships. We will protect Prime Minister Nikanor. All ships who are with us, change course and follow us."
Yes, not in "Journey Home", but I always associate this song with the naval battle, because there I can actually understand it.
@kampfmesser2000 the radio like music is that song playing because if you listen well in the cinematic where the carrier get sunk it say the captain was the kind of guy to play this music during boat battle well you know what i mean
@Fangthedragonwolf4 Sukhoi is a company that makes several prolific aircraft such as the Su-27 Flanker, Su-33 Super Flanker, Yellow Squadron's Su-37 Terminator and, my signature aircraft, the Su-47 Berkut.
All planes in the games are characterized by old fashioned weapons (Rocket pods instead of XAGMs) and a name for extreme maneuverability. They're far better most American/European planes because of this, but that's just my play style.
I practaly cried when Chopper died, and got goosebumps pn the last mission i mean this is the best japanese seires that iknow of! (on offense final fantasy fans)
I am just plain amazed how Namco could come up with something original. The graphics are unbelievable sometimes and the game is more like a movie sometimes because of the extremely complex plot. Bravo, Namco, Bravo. This is one team-up (Namco & Northrop Grumman) that couldn't have gotten much better. This is a definite thumbs-up. Another song featured in this game is called "Blurry" and it's by a group called "Puddle of Mudd".
I, as a fond player of this game, belive that the creators did an excellent job sculpting the story line. They did a great job of making you feel at one with Edge (Nagase), Archer (Grim), and the lost but not forgotten Chopper (Davenport). The emotions that you feel while playing this game can't be beat by anyother game. So I congratulate all the people who have crafted such a game and I also congradulate all the people who have played and completed this wonderful game.
Oh, and I got goosebumps when near the end of the game, every pilot that was flying along-side you started singing the song. I really hope Ace Combat 7(NOT assault Horizon) carried on what this series had going. 6 was ok, but never had the emotion 5 had.
@roosterflu77 Dude Your Fuking Kidding Me! I feel the same exact way and then the planes started to disapear and Im like WAHT and I thought it was gonna be epic. Dude Im getting chills just thinking about it right now.
@boNcree AC5 was really emotional, but I think the Metal Gear series had some really moving moments. Much of MGS4, and the ending of MGS3, are tearjerkers. Seriously recommend playing them if you haven't before.
I just finished this game again like five minutes ago. I couldn't help but leave the controller on the table, close my eyes and listen to this. So beautiful.
This game has the best soundtrack ever. Fucking period.
@videohenryk Dude I feel the same way Before I was like I Really wanna be in the airforce and once I finished this game Im like "That's What Im Gonna Be Me Up There Leading the Ghost of Ragriz!"
@videohenryk best of luck to you bro, hope you achieve your dream. being a fighter pilot was also my dream but i was strucked by the realities of life and its impossible for me now to be one, but thanks to this game because even if its for only a short time it made me felt like i am one. This is more than just a game to me..
The only "bad" things about this game were the foul language, the plane selection in the beginning, and the locked special weapons. Otherwise, this is a great game.
no game series in history has ever been able to make me cheer, laugh, cry, despair, and actually FEEL like a hero...except Ace Combat..

@brokenbones199 there was another one that came out. i don't remember what it was called, but all the comments that were about it had something to do with being sad at what happened in the game
wolfking164 7 months ago
@wolfking164 thats not really specific XD

I love this song so much, the words really cut deep into your heart. I was able to meet Mary Elizabeth McGlynn at a convention a few years ago and commented to her how great this song was. Most people know her as a voice actress, but she is also a fantastic beautiful singer.

This was back when Ace Combat still kicked ass. The new game getting ready to come out looks retarded.

@F14ace How it Looks Retarded?
SPARTS3000 9 months ago
@SPARTS3000
F14ace 9 months ago
@F14ace But, I wanna kill more Russians since Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Oh, My favorite mission is "No Russian" from Modern Warfare 2. :D

It is people like you that fill this world with hatred and terror, and we would be better off without people like you.
reeper147 7 months ago
@reeper147 Now you, I like. One of the things I've loved most from ace combat is that they never fight for war, they fight for peace. Flying is about peace. If it were up to me planes would never be used as a weapons. It breaks my heart.
BiTTjl 7 months ago
@BiTTjl Well, the A-10C is able to take out entire tank columns with a well placed cluster bomb. The Air Force, in an era without a clearly defined bad guy (back in the Cold War, good and evil were very clearly laid out), is our deterrent; you tick a country off, air power is gonna tell you otherwise. Without aircraft as weapons, WWII would be just as bad as WWI was. Not to mention the fact Pearl Harbor and the Battle of Britain would not have been possible if we hadn't weaponized aircraft.
Digolgrin 6 months ago
@Digolgrin They do make it easier. But it's terrible that such a symbol of peace should be used for war. Just like the Arkbird from AC5.
BiTTjl 6 months ago
@BiTTjl That does make sense, but I stand by my previous argument. Without any defined bad guys, we MUST rely on aircraft for deterrence. The key deciding factor of both Gulf Wars and Afghanistan was our air power, ONLY BECAUSE they brought our combined fury on themselves.
Digolgrin 6 months ago
@Digolgrin I agree planes make great weapons. I just wish they didn't have to be.
BiTTjl 6 months ago 60
@BiTTjl Handley Page converted his 0/400 WWI bomber into the world's first air transit. Next time you see a cargo or passenger jet, think of Handley Page and his 0/400.
shashoni109 1 month ago
@BiTTjl they just want to fly :)
ZillaMech 1 week ago
@Digolgrin Air power is really a thing to be feared, but in context with Ace Combat it's distorted. The game is nothing like a flight simulator, so in real life air support is not the omnipotent and unstoppable fairy tale they write it out to be. The game doesn't explain where the fuel comes from, or how much it costs to maintain the planes.
In real life air power is very expensive. It's proportionate to how strong they are.
Dageki 5 months ago

Yes, not in "Journey Home", but I always associate this song with the naval battle, because there I can actually understand it.
kampfmesser2000 9 months ago
@kampfmesser2000 the radio like music is that song playing because if you listen well in the cinematic where the carrier get sunk it say the captain was the kind of guy to play this music during boat battle well you know what i mean

@Fangthedragonwolf4 And furthermore, why diss the country that makes Sukhois and MiGs?!
RevonZZ 10 months ago
@RevonZZ Sukhois? What kind of plane is that? If its an awesome plane, I'll take back what i said
Fangthedragonwolf4 9 months ago
@Fangthedragonwolf4 Sukhoi is a company that makes several prolific aircraft such as the Su-27 Flanker, Su-33 Super Flanker, Yellow Squadron's Su-37 Terminator and, my signature aircraft, the Su-47 Berkut.
All planes in the games are characterized by old fashioned weapons (Rocket pods instead of XAGMs) and a name for extreme maneuverability. They're far better most American/European planes because of this, but that's just my play style.
RevonZZ 9 months ago
@RevonZZ Su-37 Terminator was made in Russia? I Take back what I said about the 8 people who dis like this song. Thanks for clearing that up for me!

Another song featured in this game is called "Blurry" and it's by a group called "Puddle of Mudd".
dominationves 10 months ago
I, as a fond player of this game, belive that the creators did an excellent job sculpting the story line. They did a great job of making you feel at one with Edge (Nagase), Archer (Grim), and the lost but not forgotten Chopper (Davenport). The emotions that you feel while playing this game can't be beat by anyother game. So I congratulate all the people who have crafted such a game and I also congradulate all the people who have played and completed this wonderful game.

Amist the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of chang shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon.
Behold the Razgriz, it's wings of black sheath.
A demon through dark skies
Fear and death trial its shadow beneath.
Until men united wield a hallowed sabre
In the final reckoning, the beast is slain.
