I loved this game when i was a child even though it was too hard for me to finish back then :P Haha and those guillotines always made me jump when they hit me. This game had some kind of horror feeling to it i dont know why.
At 6:00 you can just walk through the pikes and not loose health, simulating CAUTION. Why today games can't do the same ? In Skyrim, if you come close to pikes, even while sneaking, walking on your toes, you loose health.
Anyone tried trick on 02:00, where you can lure the guard to follow you on next screen, at point where you have to climb slope; then on 02:07 climb up and then go lower where guard came out, and run towards the exit gate :)
Agreeing with the guy a few posts lower. By pressing up, you can parry the attacks. Additionally, if you rush into the enemy, you can get to their other side. Thus, you can very often put them at a disadvantage in which you just were... a hole behind your back, or a slashing plate. Push THEM in there! Yeah, I dont know how you survived all those fights, it was a luck based mission. Your platforming was good though.
Didn't you know you could block the upper attacks with your sword?? The vid would have been so much better with some epic sword-fights!! Thanks for the video anyway! :)
This was a superb game. Well quantised controls coupled with great level design using a nice batch of different but really understandable mechanisms, a great difficulty arc introducing new badies with set pieces, and all the charm and audio/visual style it needed to make it stand out from the crowd... not to mention just the right ammount of brutallity to give it a slight feeling of foreboding. Who says games can't be art.
I remember a level which was inverted that didn't show up in this playthrough. Maybe that was on the PC version? Also, I'm remember the fat guard being near impossible to kill. I used to switch places with him and knock him back down the gap.
i played this game over and over as a kid, loved the final fight vs Jaffar and the fight vs your sould in lvl 12, and OMG the fight vs the fat dude at the end of lvl 6, but the most epic battle of all time must be the dickhead at the beginning of lvl 8, dude didn't move an inch unless you did. A real thought-provoker that one
In 1990 I really wanted an Amiga computer. Almost bought an Amiga 500, but instead used the money as a down payment on my first car. Car is long gone now.
Something tells me that the dude playing this doesn't realise that you can push up to block when sword fighting?! He got down to 1 energy bar on a couple of occasions and nearly snuffed it because of his lack of use! Still clocked the game without using it though which is pretty impressive
OMG... I was 12 years old and never able to deal with that shadow thing.. there was no internet to ask people about it ... Today's children are lucky :D
@drcolakoglu1907 Oh man tell me about it haha. Anyone else was scared of the spiky traps and the slashing plates? :( I was always sweating so hard when trying to get past those.
@drcolakoglu1907 I`m not sure. I finished this game with my brother when we was 8 (me) and 10 yrs old and even if it was so hard we had fun and was proud of that no one helped us. Today all is easier, i`m not sure that it is better.
PS in lvl 8 23:12 u should stop and go with shift to not turn ur enemy. I wonder how was u able to survive with out this. I probably never had that lucky.
On level 3 it is actually possible to get the magic life potion X2. once through the timed door all you have to do is commit suicide "HARA KIRI" and then go all the way back through the bottom of the game and get it again, it takes quite a while though.
CLASSIC!!! I used to have a tough time with this as a kid. I could never get past level 4. :( When the PS2 version of PoP came out, I unlock the original version of this game and eventually beat it. :) You actually found extra stuff that I never knew about! Excellent playthrough! Thanks for posting! :D
oh I thought you found extra level lol.because if you watch the intro of the game at the end there is a short video with a level that isn't in the game.
seriously just type in prince of persia games and Im sure ull find it and then u wont have to buy it unless its only the demo version but I cant remember cuz I havent played it in a while
I doubt a Persian prince would have blond hair, but I guess Mechnar, or however you spell that, didn't have the graphics technology we have today when he 8-bit'D his brother...
This game always felt like the sequel to karateka

That's because both were designed by Jordan Mechner.

Unfortunately, I don't have an XBox either.
Again, I wonder if I could find something for the computer. I just recently purchased a gamepad, and I bet that would be fun to play with.
