duuuude....I had nokia phones for years and i wasn't to buy an iphone EVER, but EVER...untill i've tried it for a week, my problem was only that one, the TYPING....and man, after 1 week experiencing the iphone I got the skill to write in it, also if u put your finger in the screen you can slide it from A to Z and when you release your finger from the screen it will select the letter you've chosen, so....don't be that DRAMA QUEEN with the iphone keyboard, you can also put it sideways...peace out!

iPhones kb is not so user friendly. I used to type with thumbs on Nokia E61i but on iPhone thumb typing is just as video shows. I had to learn to use only forefinger. How ever u type I prefer auto correction to set on.

dude its the most easiest thing to type ever would you prefer a screen half the size with a real keyboard on it.

Also have you ever tiered holding the key down for a bit longer and the letter you clicking come up and you just move your finger the tinniest bit to get it to select the letter next to it. And yes it dose take practice but i can type as fast as i can on a full size keyboard. like one error every 20 or so words. and most of the time the smart spell check will fix that.

Just in case nobody has pointed it out to you yet:

If you place your finger on the keyboard and hold it there, you can run it back and forth across the keyboard until the correct letter is selected, and then remove it. I know it's not as fast as you'd like it to be, but... It's better than having to backspace so often. Also, like KonaKoo said, trust the iPhone's ability to correct you. It was built to adjust for people with "fat" fingers, or for people tapping the wrong letters in a rush.

The iPhone is capacitative sensitive which does not allow for a stylus like other pressure sensitive phone. Sorry other posters... I believe that typing very quickly you can type what you want by memorizing and using the nice autocorrect fix feature. The only problem with the featur is that you cannot use IM talk.
