  • Play the solo from "Born" by Nevermore

  • what's whit the hairband on the first fret ?

  • @vlmcross not sure but it could he could be using it to mute all strings except the ones he's playing thus making it sound clearer. Pretty clever

  • I dont want to be "That guy" but Ive listened to this solo a billion times and never heard the chromatic infusions during Dave's part...so I dont think it's correct(of course music is not set in stone), but if this is supposed to teach, it should be accurate

  • @PATRIOTxx3 the notes are good , the speed is a bit slower

  • 0:22 lol!!!!!!!!!!! his face!!!!

  • anyone from those who pressed dislike : seriously, what is in this amazing video that u didnt like ?

  • LOL @ concentration face.

  • andys movements look so easy and perfect..but when i try to play fast it looks like i am breaking my fingers or whatever...

  • make a cover of in my darkness hour solo!!!!!!!

  • what is the purple thing wrapped around the neck next to the nut?

  • @TheWardonovan he uses a hair tie to reduce vibration or ringing or something

  • dave murray makes it sooo easy ... smiling and looking at the fans...

I think this guy terrorrises me x)

  • Damn, I want to play like that... he is aweesome

  • Perfeito !

  • @Ruantherock perfecto xDD

  • great

  • What gauge strings, and what sting make does he use please?

  • I used to play like this, then i took an arrow to the knee..

  • @TheVideoGameMan2 Get the fuck out of here

  • Hey Danny ! Is it possible that Lick Library could do a George Lynch lesson it would be awesome !

  • muito loko véi

  • Do you have any for Megadeth other than S O D?

  • Do you have any for Megadeth?

  • My fav Maiden solo man, solid! \m/

  • Everything is perfect until you get to Murray's solo. at 0:24. You do play it note for note, but it instead of the legato technique you're picking every single note and it sounds like Dimebag.

  • Good, but can he play smoke on the water? and will it blend?

  • Do you have any songs by Protest The hero?

  • hi mate, are your lessons free?

  • Andy James is my religion!

  • what strings do you use???

  • @shanecarroll92 Andy uses 10/11 gauge elixer strings!

  • 0:20 - 0:24 epic face shake :DD:D::D!

  • Sa sert a quoi le truc sur la 1ere frette s'il vous plaît ?

  • @Lemkil07 Pour éviter de faire sonner les cordes à vide.

  • you make it look so easy xD

  • Sounds better than the original lol

  • Sorry i had to thumb this down and flag for innapropriate sexual material

  • whats the blue thing on the first fret?!

  • @bigbuba16 its to dampen the sound of the strings so it doesn't sound all choppy when you play

  • @bigbuba16 i think it helps keep strings from buzzing on their own. i think. i do know for sure that it keeps the tone cleaner for recording purposes

  • @licklibrary Have you got a lesson for Living Bad Dreams - Judas Priest ???

  • 0:20 - Funny face!

  • not feeling

  • you are the best andy tks for that

  • This was an absolutely amazing performance! BUT!

I don't actually think it's a good way of teaching people. Andy often injects a lot of his own style and flair into these solos, rather than copying them exactly. That's cool as a performance, but I think for tutorial purposes people will wanna be taught Iron Maiden's version (or whichever artist) as it was originally played, then they have the freedom to choice whether to inject their own style into it or not.

  • Rock n roll!

  • MORE VIDEO OF IRON MAIDEN!!!!!!!!!

  • andres segovia asturias 2 Rimsky-Korsakov bumble bee 3 paginini 5th caprice 4 pachelbel canon ( rock version )

  • So much slowly

  • When Did Dave Murray Cut His Hair?? O.O

  • Have any for Hallowed be thy name?

  • @iSawTheUnseen Hi there, yes we have a single Web Lesson for Hallowed Be Thy Name. We will send you the link to the sample on our website to your YouTube Inbox. Hope that helps.

  • Andy James is plain sick ! what a cool guy !

  • this is my favorite guitar solo, could u guys please tell me what amp your using to get this tone thanks :)

  • how the fuck do u make those bends so clean and awesome :/ mine sound like shit and its super hard to bend

  • @lubiewowa that's because you suck and Andy is such an epic guitarist

  • Can you teach me how to play like this guy?

  • Can you guys make a video on Michael Angelo's "No Boundaries"? xD

  • @Hokylolme Michael Angelo himself made a DVD on how to play it.

  • gotta love his face at 0:21

  • Is it just me or is this slower than the original solo.?!

  • O O O OOOOOOOOOOOh O O O OOOOOOOOOOOOh

  • the solo it's too hard : (

  • Can somebody tell me if i do something wrong because when I use that hair band I somehow do not really benefit form it. It doesnt block the noice

  • en que afinacion esta esa guitarra

  • hye d0 you have s0l0 f0r sweet child 0f mine-GnR??

  • @applepieayung Hi yes we do, its taught by Danny Gill, we will post the link to your youtube inbox. Hope it helps.

  • @applepieayung Do you really have enough spare time to type like that? seriously.

  • @musicvidsgalor his "o" key is probably broken lol i had to do that once.

  • some people said that iron maiden metal is, what kind of metal is that, and wich song sounds the most like a real hard metalsong?

    btw awesome guitar^^

  • @kaas499 ofc iron maiden metal, their called classic metal i guess like judas preist and stuff. I guess if u wanted 2 find modern bands with a similair sound some power metal bands have rlly strong maiden influences. If u want really hard metal look up some early napalm death, deicide or maybe some early cannibal corpse

  • this is one of the most beautiful and melodic solos ever! the best part for me: 0:24-0:33

  • what brand is strings?

  • What kind a strings you use ?? (I wanna know what stuff you got !!!)

  • beautiful solo, well played

  • FLAWLESS VICTORY.

  • this guy plays and makes it look so easy. hahaha. he's awesome. anyway, any idea what kind of strings he's using?

  • Question, is that a regular hair band or a scrunchy over fret one? if so I will try one from my girlfriend.

  • @liedjaeger Hi there, yep just a regular one nothing special about it. :)

  • @licklibrary-

What if you have an Ibanez and a regular hairband is too looase because you have a Wizard III Neck? What can I use instead?

  • @TriggerHappy971 Experiment - Danny Gill one of our other Tutors has occasionally used a Rubber band. Hope that helps.

  • @liedjaeger dude for sitting at home with no one watching you can just tie a sock round the top fret

  • That was like cutting a piece of cake and not making any crumbs! Great job. Slower than the recording but hey it was a breeze to figure out the notes.

  • oh my good god,....sweet jesus!!!

  • do u do an iron maiden dvd doing the song, hallowed be thy name ??

  • @surferboy14lp Hi there - were sending you a message to your inbox...hope it helps!

  • @surferboy14lp Nice looking strings you guys got there... Any chance of getting an inbox to where I can find them? Thanks

  • this is slower than the original

  • Pretty badass , but Dave does it 2x faster :P

  • impressive not sucky at all!!

  • whats that rubber band on the neck of the guitar on the 1. fret.. what does it do ?

  • @Djsukyy it reduces unwanted open strings vibrations which create unwanted noise

  • OMFG this guy is awesome :OOOOOO

  • I would love to buy this, but $28 is too steep considering I already know half the songs ....

  • @Deere55 Yeh if you already know the songs - why not head over to our web lessons section on our site and see if any of the other Iron Maiden songs are available for single lesson purchase?

  • Es impresionante lo bien que toca este hombre... Congratulations! I like your perfomance a lot!

  • WHAT IS THAT BLUE THING?

  • @lolcrixlol The blue 'thing' is the 'THING' that cancels out the strings to ring if it gets touched while soloing. Many artists use that in the studio recording.

  • the lesson talk about the distortion ? or something like that?

  • Damn, that was clean

  • 0:26 - 0:33

    O.O

  • he does not use his 4th finger often

  • ïf i buy the DVD , will i get all the lessons or just this solo? or will i get like metallica ,zakk wylde lesson and everything else?

  • @joinmyteam Hi there with this DVD you will get lessons on 5 Iron Maiden Songs note for note all the chords / solos note for note and up close. the songs which are taught are: Two Minutes To Midnight, Moonchild, Fear Of The Dark, Aces High

Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son. Hope that helps. Any further questions just gives us an email!

  • The second solo is very hard

  • the compass of your edition is lower, huh?

  • nice

  • until now wich song has been the most challenging?

  • is to me or is he playing it just a tiny bit too slow?

  • @PANNOGROSSO Its just the drums, i think

  • this guy fucking owns?

  • Awesome but a bit too slow.

  • perfect!

  • is it just me, or does shit just look waaaay more difficult when Andy james plays it? give me a thumbs up if you agree.

  • try move the finger like that!! impossible

  • he can actually play every song

  • hey...can u put a lesson video for this solo??

  • Bomb, thats all I can say...

  • haha..e a borracha na mao??..

    nao consegue tocar limpo??..

    tecnica mascarada!

  • whoever said that the solos of "Stairway to Heaven" and "Comfortably Numb" are better than Iron Maiden solos like this really don't know what they are talking about.

  • @ERICROJO156 In all truth, i dont think there is a "better" solo than another solo, more complex yes but its all about conveying how the artist feels and sounding cool of course :)

  • just perfect :|

  • hey what strings does he use.. ill buy the dvd but i think i need strings like those 1st

  • @AvengedTimes no u dont.-...

  • @gfgranja He now uses ESP Guitars, however you're right this was with the Music Man

  • What is the hair band for on the first fret...

I see lots of people doing it.

Only thing i can think of is to reduce buzz from hitting open strings accidentally?

  • @HaiiTommRoxx If you go to our channel and view the Andy James Q&A series he answers that in there!

  • @licklibrary i cant find it

  • @HaiiTommRoxx It is so that you don't hit the open strings by accident because they are muted from the hair band

  • @HaiiTommRoxx

its too mute strings if you accidently hit an open note and dont want it to ring out.

    it's for sissy ass cheaters.

  • @HaiiTommRoxx its to mute the strings he don't want to play ^^

  • @HaiiTommRoxx stops strings from ringing out as much when tapping etc.....

  • @HaiiTommRoxx thats exactly what its for

  • @HaiiTommRoxx it's for that reason's

  • @HaiiTommRoxx hmm it is to dampen the natural harmonics..greetings from india...

  • @HaiiTommRoxx You Sir saved my life :D I was just pissed off about my new amp to be too strong and buzzing strings ruin the whole song. I will drink to you!

  • @HaiiTommRoxx when you're playing a fast solo you can pick strings you don't want to strike, if you put the band on the fretboard it mutes the strings.

  • I just had an eargasm.

  • really great solo

  • heyy! can u upload a video lesson on this solo lick???thx

  • @Langston10000 You can get the lesson by purchasing the DVD - the link is in the description.

  • what guitar do you use :)

  • @TheGreatGuitarist1 Andy uses an ESP

  • @licklibrary 0:25 onwards in the second solo....he's wrong....its a bit more melodic...

  • @TheGreatGuitarist1

Except that in this video he uses a music man...

  • solo IS flawless, great, and very clean...

BUT, 1st. it's not up to tempo original solo is around 115 bmp this is more like 100 bpm.. 2nd that is not original solo, there's a part he changed, probably cause it's too hard to play, dave has this crazy trills that only few guitarist can do.

  • @Chupoklon duuude dave isnt that good... this guys prolly better than him

  • @wannabeserpento99 dave is much more interesting to hear but the best guitarist in the world is SLASH

  • @trickybasket HAHAHHA. You made me laught really hard

  • @Chupoklon That is up to tempo the solo takes 37 seconds which is how long the song takes. The people tab the guitar parts themselves so there may be few wrong notes but i assure that it is not because the solo is too hard, this is relatively easy for this guy

  • @Chupoklon If I could play the second solo after playing guitar 2 years or so I'm pretty sure one of the best guitar players in britain any james can. The point is he doesn't have to a) remember it note for note and b) he has made a similar sounding solo to it adding his own bits but keeping it in the style of dave murray. To be that makes it sound infinitely better than just copying what dave wrote.

  • My mind is now on the wall behind me.

  • nice preference but sounds like something is missing

  • his playing is so clean! the legato for dave murrays solo is flawless

  • his playing is so clean! that legato for dave murrays solo sounds perfect

  • unbelievably played

  • Shit thats crazy:D!!

  • awesome!!

  • great!!! why is it that everyone when they are playing the put such funny faces unconsiously? XD

  • @dinkyemg - playing with emotion much?

  • Great playing

  • nailed it, but slower than the original

  • sounds good but not authentic

  • No, the Jannick Gers bit was totally wrong!

Did he even play along with the song before recording this?

  • @evilotto77cheese No but he also didn't spend hours learning it note for note and proves he can play it since he makes a solo just as good through improv.

  • hey... is that a petrucci signature?

  • Yes, it's a Music Man John Petrucci standard.

  • why is the ribbon on his guitar's neck????

  • so if he messes up and hit an open string, it doesn't ring out and sound awful...

  • it prevents open string noise *!!

  • @kukurbiralo It's to damp any dead notes so the solo sounds alot cleaner

  • @kukurbiralo For da stringssss

  • Very well played, but I hate to see instructional sites encourage such sloppy technique. He neglects his fourth finger for the most of the solo (especially the faster runs in the second half), and what's up with that band at the top to mute his strings for him? Also, it's slower than it should be.

The sound is excellent though, and why wouldn't it be with the amazing JP signature guitar.

  • man your talking about Andy Frickin James, hes one of the cleanest players in the world.

yeah so what if he only uses three fingers most of the time, he still smokes every other guitar player Ive seen, and Ive been playing professional lead Guitar for 20 years. Andy Is frickin the man.
