    The first major black culture movement "Harlem Renaissance" took place during 1917-1935. It was defined as so because it took place solely in Harlem (also was worldwide), and stood for Rebirth of the black race entirely "The New Negro". This movement involved black artist such as literary writers, who expressed their views/thoughts in their writing. This movement gave the freedom of speech to break and outlaw barriers.

  • Very informative. I've always been fascinated by the Harlem Renaissance. My only criticism is that the host keeps mumbling affirmativeely throughout while the two professors speak - it's a bit distracting.
