I wonder how history would have turned out if Nintendo had just stuck a load-time-ridden 2X CDROM in there and got on the FMV/pre-rendered/CDA bandwagon. I'm thinking that the N64 would have gotten quite a few more major developers onboard and not lost key ones like Square. N64 was really pretty much a disaster even though it does have some excellent games (thanks to Nintendo itself and Rare mainly).
The video shows a few different HUDs for Mario 64. Some of the POWER meters look like they came straight out of an ATARI manual! Just watch more closely! Man, if nintendo really wants to go way back, why not realease some of those beta versions? There's nothing to hide from us now; It's 2010! I would love to play that beta Zelda game! The graphics are so bad it makes me drool! (and that's a good thing!)
@everett1911 The PS1 IS 32-bits. Just like your computer unles you have a 64-bit pc but they're rarer as they cost a lot more of money. The PS1, NDS and GBA are all 32-bit. But the PS1 and NDS can do a lot more than a GBA. The number of bits means nothing unless it's a number that isn't full colors, like 16 and 8-bit. I bet your computer can do a lot more than a GBA too, right? You see what I mean? Also, the PS1 could do more polygons than the N64, but had trouble placing them on the screen >_>
@ChampionRevilo 64bit pc's are rare, and cost allot more money? Dude, are you caught in a time trap? 64bit PC's are the norm now when you buy a new PC. It's been like that for about 4 years now, especially with the release of Windows 7. Win 7 64bit version can only be run under a 64bit processor. Most people now when buying a new PC, are buying a PC with a 64bit processor. So rare and more expensive? You are completely wrong, 100%.
@ChampionRevilo 64bit is the norm, unless you are buying a crappy netbook, or offlease refurbished PC. I have 4 PC's in my house, all 64bit, neither of which i payed more than $1000 for. The latest that I bought is a refurbished HP that was made in 2006, and it is a 64bit. The next oldest I have is a dell from 2007, it is a dual core 64bit processor. Then I got a desktop pc at the beginning of 2010 with a quad core 64bit processor. Right now, I am using a dual core 64bit processor laptop.
@ChampionRevilo Also, go look at sites like TigerDirect, NewEgg, Dell, all of those sites. They have been selling 64bit computers now for the past few years at decent prices. Even PC's now with 32bit Windows installed on them have 64bit processors.
@aaronfowlowmusic Well, actually, I don't really care. Even if my pc (and yea, it's a netbook) would be 8-bit, I wouldn't care either. I play some 3-d MMOs and my netbook runs them perfectly even with the hightest graphics ^.^
@ChampionRevilo There you go, you are using a Netbook. Netbooks are low powered anyways, and don't usually need a 64bit processor, although really, many of them do have a 64bit processor now. But I suggest getting facts straight before you act like the expert on these things. And you do care somewhat, you argued against my point when you were wrong. It tells me that you had no idea what you were talking about. Being wrong is one thing, but being wrong, proven wrong, but arguing anyways... dumb.
@ChampionRevilo That's besides the point you were trying to make, which didn't work out now did it. The point you were trying to make is that 64bit computers are rare and more expensive. But the fact is, they aren't. And I'm not sure you are really realizing the difference between the processor, and the actual OS. New computers now(not netbooks) are made with 64bit processors. Sometimes however, they come installed with 32bit OS, they are however made to handle 64bit os, as a 64bit processor.
@ChampionRevilo Well, don't always believe what your "friends" tell you. Go to any online computer shopping website, and you will see, all computers(except netbooks) come with 64 bit processors. Not all computers however, come installed with a 64bit OS. Sometimes they come with 32bit OS because it makes it a little cheaper, however they do NOT utilize the full ram potential of a 64bit processor. For instance, sometimes people get a PC with XP Pro, which is usually a 32bit os.
2:02 Mario sounds like he was suffering really bad, thanks god now we have Charles who does an excellent voice acting for the mario bros and the wario bros.
dumb question, if this was a video af 1995 when it was showcased and it was supposed to have gone by ultra 64 at that time, why does the console in the video say nintendo 64 on it?
Glad Zelda didn't turn out like the beta. Mario pretty much looked the same, except the product was more detailed. And can anyone explain what's with the woman at the end?
Am I the only one who is still creeped out by the underwater levels in Mario 64?Jolly Roger Bay,the one with the eel,is the creepiest!I stopped playing the game because of that!LOL.
are they dising the play station in this?

By release them, I mean on virtual console. Why not make a section of VC games completely made up of old betas? REALLY EARLY betas.

Everyone says that the ps1 pwns the N64 but, the N64 is, obviously, a true 64-bit console and the PS1 is only a 32-bit console on steroids.

That's what you fail to interpret, a ''32-bit SNES'' as the Nintendrones like to call the PS1 is EXACTLY what everyone wanted.
