this makes me remember my days in school where reading was boring for me but the only book i picked up and enjoyed was Goal, i remember i would read it in secretsy because growing up in the U.S your considered not cool and a wetback mexican if you liked or played football best book i ever read and dont think ill ever feel as much emotion for anther game as i do for futbol..
i remeber when i was 11 futbol was coming new to me, every body doughted me it was a holible feeling but after a few days i asked my self "why arent i as good as my teamates??.....
from their on i woke up early in the moring to increse my stamina and a small soccer field by my house my coaches and my teamate saw a major differece now im the leed socorer and captin of my team -"Imposible is nothing"-
This commercial (and others as well - Messi's and Kaka's) really shows just how human huge players like David Beckham is. The persona implied in presses and tabloids is sometimes over the top - and with his status as a superstar, it's no wonder people don't step back and see that they're just like us emotionally.
you have no idea. what that card can do. i remember my first red card, having to leave the field, and the sorrow and regret you feel as you step foot off that field. It felt like i never finished what i was supposed to finish
@metalicsteel98 it was a red card in a world cup quarter final and we lost the game because of it, and everyone hated beckham for it, people even tryed to kill him
I understand, even as an American, how HUGE soccer/football/futbol is to the rest of the world. But getting death threats, having effigies of him hanging and saying he let down his family....damn...that's when you know a country is a little too obsessed with a sport. He is a human being...I feel bad for athletes sometimes...people expect too much out of them.
i have admired beckham since his 16 year old debut in manchester united.
an excellent player, good heart, great skills.
his red card was tragic, he didnt want to get it, all national players want to do their best for their country. How many times has he set up england for good passes and goals and freekicks himself.he captained england so many times, has a hell of alot of caps.
People also told me i couldnt do it but i proved them wrong by working 2wards my dream of becoming a footballer nad now im on the top and got scouted 2 a pro tema nevER GIVE UP ON YUR DREMAS IMPOSSIBLWE IS NOTHING!
He doesn't deserve to be treated like crap. Its happened all too often and now he's having to pay in order to play for his own bloody country. He's an amazing footballer and genuinely nice guy. Britian and most particularly England should be more proud of him.
"My name is David Beckham, after that unfortunate incident I had when I was born, people would tell me that I couldn't grow up to be a total douche bag, mediocre footballer and with a gay Soho hairdresser appearance. I felt that my life was over, but after a bit of guidance on how to be talentless from Victoria and learning to wear girls underpants, eventual I started to manage to realize my dreams. England of course loves me now because there's no decent players.
impossible is nothing because im gonna play right halfback for USA soccer. i dont practice but im gonna train now andprove my friends and family wrong.
my team's older under 16 devision laughed and pushed me away when i told them i wanted to play pro. that was 5 months ago. now i've improved my play big time. and i'm just 14, who knowz what could happen in the future. IMPOSSIBLE IS NOTHING!!!!!!
Yeah, me too. When I was 8 I also had a growth problem. I wasn`t a midget, but I was small. Then, my mom & dad put me in a soccer team cause I was always watching soccer. Then, when I was in the team, my teammates never passed it, NEVER. I was alone all the time in the front. But one time, the ball came to me, I got passed 3 defenders, and I shot, scored. Now, those `teammates` that I had, don`t play anymore because they didn`t get accepted in the team. But I did. So yeah. Impossible is NOTHING.

The funny thing is people think hes god.....trust me there players out there now (Ronaldinho,Zidane and C.Ronaldo) and in the past (Maradonna, Pele and R.Baggio) that are better than him.
Awareness for what? It is a shame because he could've stayed at Real Madrid next season and help them possibly win the Champions League instead of coming here, and deal with the fuckers that don't want to do anything with the sport.
The problem is people like you putting down soccer in America. Or maybe people are scared that America will one day get good at soccer? I think thats the real reason. But I'd like to see New York Red Bulls, or the the LA Galaxy in a few months time, play Sparta Moscow, or Dynamo Moscow, or Loko. I dont think those teams are that good. Moscow is a great city, but soccer there sucks.
beckham's arrival will get the average joe in america to get interested in soccer (at least when becks visits) and that is just the kind of publicity boost the MLS can use to boost the new higher quality product it's rolling out.
so that sounds like a pretty good reason to come to america. becks will be more respected here than he ever was in spain.
