for me is absolutely unthinkable to manage to do this pose i fell a big painful stretch at my lower back..which is the equivalnt of lotus pose for stiff, old persons?
I'm determined, and this is an encouraging video that makes it clear that this isn't just some other easy pose. It really completes the fish posture to be able to have the legs involved this way. And it's one that is necessary for yogic flying too...which isn't just the "floating fluff" hehe ;)
Most of the other how to's are "This is how you do lotus position" and then whoosh whoosh they have their legs folded and your left wondering how how the hell did they did it. Cradling the leg as a warm up really helps.
I want to be able to do the full lotus pose, but I have almost not flexibility at all. What are the exercicies that I should practice to make possible using this pose?
Esther, I love your english accent...so good! Do not change it. And your video so nice and down to earth, clear explanation and straight to the point. Accent so lovely, love it to bit. I can't figure it out! polish?
absolutely true about this pose helping with straight spine, sidhasana is still a little lenient with back positioning and you cannot hold it long for meditation, but I have found that padmasana is the best perhaps for meditation ... practice practice practice ...
I can do it without any effort or hands help, probably because I was always sitting very similliar on the floor, but for example I hardly touch knees with head during standing.
i think lotus is hard. i've been stretching it 4 weeks now and i still dont have it full. i did close it twice but thats when i take a long stretching day. but the next day is like i never stretched it. its hard need helpp...
Lol wow, is this difficult? I sit like this everyday, when I'm watching TV etc... never had a yoga lesson in my life, I've just always done it. But then, I can put my legs behind my head, etc...
i overstretched my ankle the first time i tried this (even after warming up a lot)... but thanks to this vid it wont happen again :)

@yakumoklesk Try sitting on your heels. I can remember when that used to feel strenuous, but it has opened the tops of my feet up a lot.
