Bruce lee invented full contacted mma fighting and was the first person to introduce head , leg and hand protection so people could spar a lot heaver than the points based martial arts at the time. He was a real world fighter and would have poked eyes out or kicked to the balls to win.
When they filmed this movie Robert wall was a heavy weight champ in Karate & the Japanese guy was an Okinawan Karate champ in his weight class. Both friends of Bruce.
@Garvielok ya he got it too bruce is the man, i used to have his book and he had take downs and jjj submissions in it two, as well as a full boxing section of the book. bruce lee was mma way before it was called mma.
i give credit to some mma fighters but by saying that bruce lee would not last is blasphemy. ignorance at its finest. you cant compare someone who trained his whole life to someone who trained for a few years.
@darksoulfighter so true. he never stopped training he was always in shape and im sure he had more condition than all mma fighters nowadays. the thing is people underestimate him all because he didnt have much weight.
My opinion, the best fight scene ever. Simple correographed fight scene, yet with so much complexity to it. Bruce is the only martial artist I've seen on film that is able to use his legs and feet as he would his arms and hands. His kicks were as fast as his punches.
People who dispute his abilities are just blind. Dude is faster than Roy Jones Jr. and Manny, and just as powerful, but more versatile. How can you say he could not whup most MMA and martial artists of today.
at about :39, the kick that knocks his opponent over, does he kick his hand out of the way and then kick him in the face ? it's so fast i can't make it out lol
@okee9 He does both. He's just extremely fast.. I've learned similar kicks in tae kwon do, but not nearly as good as bruce lee could do it.. Lift his leg, and instead of kicking with his whole leg from the thigh, its more like a swinging hinge from the knee. One kick low at the hand, and in the same movement without putting that foot down he swings his lower leg back in and back out for a high kick to the head. PERFECT technique w/ crazy speed by bruce lee. Watch it again, its a 1-2 kick.
I love how people actually walk around in kimonos for no reason, and how somehow no one ever uses fire arms. But guess that would have punched a hole in the logic of these films. Wait, what logic?!
You know what's funny? The things in the description are just like Chuck Norris facts...the only difference is with Bruce Lee those facts are actually true.
you heard right about Bob got hurt, but that was in "Enter the dragon" in the fight against O´Hara(Bob Wall). In the rehearse scene when O´Hara attacks Lee with the broken bottles,Lee got real hurt after punching in the glass. He was a little angry because it was Bob´s fault in his opinion. In the following side kick scene,he kicked as hard as he could. And Bob got hurt. But I dont know whether you see this kick in the film or a new recorded one.
@jens17676 Yeah and if you watch the scene you can see Bruce try to hide the blood from the view of the camera. He had to get stitches I think because of it.
Lesson Number One:If You See Bruce Lee coming from a distance, run for you life

At 1:40 I'm pretty sure the guy is speaking Japanese, but doesn't it also sound like he's asking "All Mighty One Tang LungaaH?" Or am I slipping?

I slowed it down to 20% speed, he brings his knee up to knoeck the guys hand back and then in the same movement kicks him in the face.
