I think I watched this video when I first went natural a couple of years ago. I thought I had my dryness under control until lately. Thank you for the video to help me understand what's really going on with my hair. It's funny, I always get compliments on my hair, I think simply because it is what people would consider long...yet I have the hardest time keeping it moisturized, which means it's not healthy. We need to get out of the mindset that length = health.
actually.... if ur black and your hair is dry... PUT SOME GREASE IN IT CAUSE IF U DONT YOUR HAIR BREAKS OFF AND IF U GO SWIMMING AND U HAVE CLORINE IN YOUR HAIR AND U DONT WASH IT DIRECTLY AFTER U GO HOME YOUR HAIR BREAKS OFF!! god damn its called common sense
@Dixzallicx good for u for thinking that and lots of black people or ppl with dry hair have to put grease in there hair thank u very much or it will brake miss trying to make ppl feel bad but doesnt know shit
@HelloPreety123 You sounds like a crusty, ass chicken head. Also, go back to school. You don't know grammar and spelling for shit. You're the low life that gives Black people a bad name.
There is still movement of water into and out of the hair cuticle. Oils, etc only lessen this movement they do not stop it all together. Learned from Natural Haven (check out her blog it's awesome!)
Once you add acidity back to your hair like the yogurt you were talking about you can't rinse it or else you raising the ph of your hair again! (remeber water has a ph of 7) so when you add something to bring the acidity back down to 4.5 it needs to not be rinsed out but I loved the video your super cute and very informative
Thank you very much for explaining the 2 differences that our hair my be dry. I am porous and lactose intolerance. What can I do to keep my hair moistured instead of spraying it with water every 3-4 hours. Its becoming aggravating. Please help, thanks.
What a good video, I learned so much from that as I recently became aware that my hair is porous. It amazed me that people bothered to note things such as your nail varnish when you're spitting good knowlege. Keep up the knowledge young lady well done to you!

Thanks. I've been transitioning for about 4 months, and one of the main problem I've had is retaining moisture in my hair between washes. Your video really made clear why I might be having such a problem. Keep us posted about your natural haircare line!
you've got a nice way to explain that! Thx you did well!! Never tried yoghurt in my hair and am excited to see the result. My hair looks more shiny when I iron it. I think the cuticel will close then??? But on the other hand it dries out as well, doesn't it?
THIS IS AWESOME!!! Thank you so much! kimmaytube talks about it but your demonstration made perfect sense to me. My hair is very much like you hair. Sometimes it appears dry when it isn't and vs versa. It is tightly tightly coiled (4c+) and is hard to retain moisture. ACV i find dries it out sometimes. Any other products you suggest? What is a good PH level? the higher the better or the lower the better? You mentioned yogurt how do you apply?
Wow I really needed this. I've had so much heartache and I mean it with my hair looking dry. It's been so frustrating and I was looking for that shin I used to get with relaxed hair but now I understand thanks so much!
This video is very informative and I will be sure to look at porosity controlling products. As I'm transitioning, I have been experiencing extremely dry hair. I mean it soaks up moisture within minutes after I've moisturized. So I will definitely try the apple cider vinegar or more acidic products.
You mentioned dry and brittle hair. There can be many reasons why a person's hair is dry and brittle. For example, the person may have a vitamin deficiency, illness, or using the wrong products. I learned that I cannot use products with a lot of synthetic ingredients b/c it dries my hair out. Also, I had allergic reactions to products with colors in them (yellow, blue, red). Learn your hair.
Luvved the vid. Was on the porosity trail too as I find it difficult to retain moisture with my hair as well. I am 'hiding' at the moment - got a weave on and am trying to keep it in for a coupla months. Then will start again with porosity. Tired of dry tangly hair and yes, I do feel sometimes like my hair is not growing.
i concur w/ some other ppl's compliments, but i needed to say especially good job on noting the various points in the video where you covered different topics. that's something i would do (if i posted vids) :-)
good video. i dry my hair all the time. I hate wet hair and i know it's bad. my hair isn't dry all the time only when I don't drink enough water. i only wash it once a month tho, i'm gonna get some yogurt. thanks for posting
maybe your hair feels "too clean" because of the shampoo that ur are using....check in the ingridient list if it has any sulfates...that would most likely be the reason that u get that feeling...also ALWAYS deep condition...atleast once a week.....and a good shampoo i would recommend to try that doesnt have any sulfates in it is elasta QP creme conditioning shampoo...trust me, i have it and it makes my hair feel sooooo soft!!
wow. that was great! The time is so appropriate too! with this winter weather it is hard to keep hair that feels moisturized without wetting it everyday!... i will defintiely try the industrial acidic products you mentioned! thanks!! can't wait till you line is out!
Good vid! i always do a apple cider vinegar rinse when my hair is dry. I've gotten away from doing it every week but i think ill start back up again. Thank for the reminder.
Great vid! I have the same problem that my hair feels dry and I try everything. I have a good length, but feel I've hit a growth rut. Please do more vids!
i agree. no matter how much i moisturize it still look dry and sometimes feels dry after a few days. but my hair gets greasy if i moisturize it twice a day every day
that was great. Very well explained. A lot of people do those 'acidic' treatments without truly overstanding the benefit. They just do it, cos they may of seen 'that-person-with-nice-hair' do it lol, but you've really laid it down in a way that is logical and understandable : ) Proper! hehe
Excellent!!!!! You really made it plain and simple for me.. this is my exact problem. Even when i had a relaxer, My hair would drink you oil, oil sheen. Thank you so much!!! Great Job!!!!
I think you made some excellent points and you explained in the best manner. Alot of times when people explain dry hair & porosity it can get a bit confusing but you did such a great job!
IMO, which is also supported by science, coconut oil is actually better than EVOO because Coconut Oil protects the hair from losing protein and it seals the hair better than EVOO and it actually has moisturizing properties. Hope that helps some.
Is the Porosity Control product safe to use on natural hair that has never been chemically treated? I just did a Google search and it is advertised for those with chemically treated hair (color, perm, bleach, relaxer).

Hi lady,
Great vid!
At the last part: Can you use apple cider vinegar and or yogurt?
After washing me hair feels clean and makes a 'polished' sound.
Is that because of the dryness????
