  • How much did you mill off the head?

  • Send me an email @ wfofz1@hotmail.com

  • Hey I just wanted to know how much would you charge me for a head job on an 06 R1? I an building an all motor drag bike, No NOS or turbo stuff just a tight motor. I would like to have the ports opened up, milled down flat and valve job. What kind of power gain does this give on the R1?

  • English is OK. I'm careful of piston.

  • the piston will touch the valve ,be careful, sorry my english

  • What are the holes in the side of the exhaust channels ?

  • @michaelovitch they are for the AIS (air injection system) emissions.

  • @wfofz1

    Thanks !

i hope you will make others videos !

  • @michaelovitch Sometime this year I will be building a FZ1. and Thank you!

  • does porting the head make the bike unreliable

  • No, porting should not affect reliability. Except for the fact that you'd be making more power. but modern sportbike motors are built well enough that they can handle quite a bit of power increase.

  • @wfofz1 thanks for your reply

  • how much would that cost to do to an 06 r1...keep in mind its 5 valves

  • very nice. im thinking about doing this soon to my 99R6. trying to find a good how to on here. i got the basics but rather be 100% sure im doing it right.

  • The video would have been a little bit more informative if you had included a shot of each of the tools (cutters and sanders) that you used along the way. Nothing personal ~ but with this video you could have easily been showing someone elses work.

  • it was meant to give people the Idea that head work will produce power, because, these days, most people just put on a slip on & think they're fast. also it was an advertisement & not a "how to". If you want info on how to, I'd be glad to talk with you & will help you (or any one) the best I can.

  • I didnt see any work done to the combustion chamber. Do you ever unshroud the valves and clean up any steps and corners?

  • I unshroud the intakes very lighty by hand because I've found that the compression loss is not worth the flow gains.

P.S. this head did get them unshrouded as part of the valve seat cut, if you look in the nlast scene you can see the big silver circles around all of the valves. I have since changed that practice.

  • I unshroud the valves by hand & only slightly, I've found that the gains in flow don't make up for the loss of compression.

  • 949...isn't that in california heh..... sounds like you guys are local hehe i believe thats around irvine area, laguna nigel

  • what am I supposed to do with that?

I do some stuff with FZ1's as well.....

    let me know!

  • nice job!!! how much would u charge for a 300ex head port?

  • all depends, are you doing all the work & just mailing me the head? where are you located?

  • ya id do all the work getting it out, and just mail it out, i live in Reading, PA.

  • wow how much did u deck off the head the combustion camber it had a step before ??

  • each head is different, obviously, but this one I took 20 thou.

  • Excellent stuff BSR, I'm sure people will find that really interesting to see. You do some top work and you have the numbers to back it up in the past ;o)

  • hey bsr, not bad bro!
