  • wow!! thats a blast !! I worked at Revival from about '85 to '88 barbacking/bartending. Youth from Killing Joke in the booth with DJ Danny all the time. Augustus Pablo coming down from Trenton and sitting in the back of the 1st floor live room and not talking to anyone all night. Sonic Youth making the trip from NY and just hanging out because they were tired of the NY scene . Decadence galore. Good times indeed.

  • That's when kids knew how to have fun. We would do the vagabond party n party @ the bank then go over to revival. Who remembers miss Phoenix the hottest drag queen n Brian the doorman/bouncer. Club kids rock........

  • bluboi27 has made a comment on Revival After-Hours Club, Philadelphia:

This seems to be around '92-93. That last song is Bizarre, Inc's "Ascension" I think? Anyway, such a great club. I lived in Philly from '88-94, the peak of the house/techno scene. Remember Trocadero? So many great memories. I really miss those days. And look...no one is texting!!! :)

  • Aaaah! LOVED Revival...We HOUNDED the DJ to play XTC one night and he yelled SHUT THE FUCK UP!!! and then played them...LOL!!!

  • Yeah I went there back when it was mostly goth, new wave and post punk (late 80's early 90's). Fun Times.

  • Judging from the music playing, I'd say this was well after '86. In '86-'87 Revival played dark music, post punk, and experimental dance like Joy Division, Love and Rockets, Dead or Alive, New Order, Medium Medium, etc... I lived in that place back then!

  • I always felt at home at Revival. It always seemed open and accepting, even of boring uncool persons like myself.

  • spent a lot of time on that dance floor

  • I have REALLY good footage from revival.. its a few years after this one.its on VHS though so i dont know how i would get it up.. i have a break dance circle and i think some rennie harris dancers as well.. i may have some video from the troc as well i will need to look through them..

  • Brilliant!! I can't believe I found this... thanks soooo much for posting it. I lived there almost '87-'88 !!! Like so many others here- remeber it very fondly... Ahh, Jerry the doorman- Jo and remeber Maria as well, bartending?? anyone remeber the raid???

  • I remember the raid! And Jerry was my friends boyfriend so he always let us in. This video seems so lame but it was awesome there.

  • Loved it here, and of course the Bank too...and the Trocadero!

  • I loved Revival. The Strand, Black Banana, the Biaritz ..so many memories. Just Awesome!

  • Coed bathrooms, revival shots, Jerry the Doorman, and Jo and Beth, the hottest barmaids on the Planet.

  • I am researching 80's night clubs and was a regular here: 86 - 87. Great club!!! Fun, intense times, a little on the edge. This video, however is disappointing, oh how I wish you could SEE a little more. But again, back then, we weren't taping every blessed thing. Back then, there was an "underground" that was avant-guarde in a unique way (different than NYC). Well, I'm glad something was captured. It's still in my 40-something memory bank for now.

  • What a flashback! I LOVED Revival (and even saved my membership card from there) Lived in Philly from 1982 to 1998 - such great memories! Does anyone remember The East Side Club? I think it was on Chestnut Street...

  • YES, i remember the East Side Club - this was around 1983 when i was in college in Philly. I loved the live shows and 'house' music dance tracks...ok, how about The Kennel Club?? This place was great - and it probably became the best club after ESC and before Revival opened. The Kennel Club was on around 11th St and was by far one ofmy fav clubs, along with Revival.

  • remember the guy at the door always wore a tank top and a very large phro, what was his name, and also movie night, jimmy joe jesus the bartender

  • Ahhh the REAL philly - before HIPSTERS and transplant YUPPIES ruined it!!! there are NO clubs in philly today, simply POSER LONGES where morans from wisconsion pretend they are in Paris

Philly in the 90s was the BEST- with the best people - now its just FAKE ASS POSERS!

    Man what happened!

  • 80's got the 90's beat

  • Revival, the Bank, Black Banana, it was all good...being a stay at home Mom w/kids is not fun!

  • This club was the best! This brings back so many great memories of staying out till 4am. I went to the Revival from 87-93 religiously. I drove an hour from the deadzone of Atlantic City, NJ every weekend. The people in the Phila undergroud scene were so cool back then. Used to sell my fanzine and take photos of punk and goth girls all the time. Saw many cool bands at the Revival too.

In 94 I moved to LA and tried to find a club like the Revival but it just wasn't the same.

  • Count me in! I had the best time of my life..

  • in my head, i still re-live some of the greatest nights of life from revival. to this day i say i wish i could have onr more night. please somehow someone put it together! i still have several live tapes from tripp's nights there. bitch, im 'a turn this mother f*****r OUT!

  • I was searching for The Bank (best club ever) or Asylum footage and came across this, wow what a gift.. I sure miss Philly!

  • Yes...the Bank was fab, especially downstairs in the vault with the Viking Movies. But Asylum simply was from another world...I remember seeing Lycia there and communing with spirits.

    Sigh...

  • I was actually searching for Bank or Asylum footage and came across this, I love it and miss it so much, sure brings back memories!

  • Wow! This brings back memories! I loved Revival! Was just talking with friends about all the places we used to go to - Bank, Vagabonds, Revival, and even the Trocadero where I used to bartend at. Oh, those were the days....!

  • Yes! I know quite a few closet Revival alums who would def love that! (I see myself in the video too!)

  • Aaah, the 90s. I miss Club Revival too. And I remember Jerry the Doorman all too well... ;)

  • Revival was a great dance club, lounge and bar - several stories -in an old restored 'Seamans Church' in Olde City area. I remember it well! Many nights spent there! Even remember the opening night party! THanks for bringing back some fine memories!

  • Yes, I remeber Revival very well...and I really miss it (the original Revival, that is). Though I used to live an hour away, I would go pretty often on the weekends with friends. I remember Jerry the doorman and cute Jo at the bar, and some very interesting people, music, and videos. Sighh...
