Yet the ending i saw was different to both. I seen the ending where Jake and Avi are playing Chess. Avi says check mate and the it cuts to credits.

hmm, there are a bunch of different ending out there i guess. the us version might end the way you just said, playing chess, i personally haven't seen all of it, i just said what a friend told me.

but anyways, if possible, see the uk cut of the film. there's a lot they cut out and altered to make it "easier" for audiences to understand. which wasn't the best thing to do.

Nice adaptation. Yes they seriously muuffed up the US release. It was definitely dummed down into a 1 dimensional story with no essence whatsoever, a slap to the directors face. Can't blame them though.  The government's Department of Education hasn't done much good since its existence.

yeah, they really messed with the US cut of the film...supposedly the UK version was "too smart" for audiences, so they dumbed it down and added tons of new voice over.

I think it's December 7th actually. But yeah, I was pretty excited to find out, but then disappointed it was only going to be a limited release.

I'd really like to see how the re-edit stacks up against the original cut though.

Yeah limited releases suck. The re-edit is apparently 10 minutes shorter and "more complex", looking forward to seeing it though.
